Absolutely brilliant move to make this video. I own the plastic Harry Potter Wizard chess set but love that they use the Isle of Lewis set in the the match between Ron and Harry in the Great Hall! H.P. was my original inspiration to learn how to play chess even though my parents never bought me a chess set. The dream is to own an Isle of Lewis set one day, it's the most captivating set in the world in my opinion. Thanks for sharing! Magnus is our King.

Title is misleading. The position isn't shown in the movie. At least in a way it's near to impossible to recognise the position because the pieces are in shambles on the board and it's hard to tell which is what. The Scandi opening is shown in the movie and a pawn capture on c3. After that Ron and Harry describe the ending sequence: Knight (Ron) h3 check, Queen takes h3, Bishop (Harry) c5#. The correct position and sequence of movies was designed by Jeremy Sillman and also involved a clearance sacrifice prior to the knight check (which isn't shown in the movie). Agadmator has a full analysis of the position on his channel. I would guess Magnus vaguely recognises the pattern (knight sac, bishop checkmate) and guessed of all movies made which encorporated chess position it had to be this one.

That's what they thought when the world found Morphy, when they found Capablanca, when they found Tal, When they found Alkhine, when they found Kasparov and now Carlsen. Really I'm having hope in Dubov next. The kids a genius. Anyways ye there will never be another Magnus, maybe someone better with a different playing style. @@shauryaahlawat5142 lmao there's no debate already. It's basically already the truth that Magnus is the best chess player alive. Not only is his rating the highest compared any human that was ever alive, he is also a natural prodigy like Fischer. Fischer had potential so we will never know how strong of a player he could have been but as of reality, Carlsen *is* the best out there and there ain't an argument
@svenniepennie4237
@svenniepennie4237 3 жыл бұрын
@@arnaudsebastienblaze8333 It's silly to say that the GOAT is the person who achieved the highest level regardless of the era though. Naturally, modern players will be better than historic players. They have more knowledge to work with and more tools at their disposal. Carlsen, for example, had engines to study with and he was coached by Kasparov. In the future, some kid will be coached by Carlsen and that kid will have even more chess knowledge to work with. That kid might become a stronger player than Carlsen ever was, but that does not mean that they're greater than Carlsen. Greatness comes from achievement and as it stands, Carlsen's achievements are still overshadowed by several world champions who came before him.
