Mario Party 9, I've played it. I understand why some might hate it. But it's got some cool minigames and has its own charm to it

I played it as a kid and obviously it was fun as a kid but if I wanted to play a mario party now I would not choose the one where you barely have any control over what you're doing. The rng factor of the car goes through the roof because you're not just relying on your dice roll but all of the other players dice rolls to put you in the right position on the map. Alot of the minigames are also pre rng to where you'd get bored of playing the game after one session.

I also like any Mario Party that has a "story mode" because I was definitely one of those lonely kids. I think people didn't like 9 because it was different but we can now understand that it was fine actually. Also in my opinion Bowser Party is fun in theory but in execution.... either Bowser catches you super fast and you struggle the whole game and get wiped, or he never catches you and the whole thing feels pointless.

9 is way better than 10. Its way more chill and relaxing and had even better side modes than just “play as Bowser” and it has an awesome side quest in the form of constellations. I remember spending hours and hours just to complete them all and learning new stuff about every constellation and I never got bored. In 10 you only got “play as Bowser” and thats it and that gets boring really quickly💀. But, both have awesome minigames and I 100% think that they should add back more minigames from these games to the newer titles

Mario Party 9 actually can be really good if you play 1v1s (this was the first game to allow true 1v1s on boards iirc). 1v1s allow the car mechanic to be played around much better than with 4 players, and the lack of minigames becomes less important since you have much more control over planing out how to set yourself up to get the ministars on the map, land on lucky spaces, and get the captain events for the advantage. Because 9's dice rolling is consistent and can be timed similar to DS, you can turn what was once luck based garbage into skill based strategy (including the Bowser Jr fight). Yes I played this game more than I should have as a kid.

For my birthday I played Mario Party 9 with my friends. We did the boss rush and I specifically remember it took us a solid ten minutes to play the bomb boss fight because we all kept yelling “IM GOING +!!!” Or “IM GOING A!!” And we kept tricking each other and losing points. Lots of fun. The Thwomp one is fun to get mad at with peers. I, also being a veteran of the game, kicked all of their asses simultaneously on the King Boo boss. I got 80+ points. To this day I have never lost a game of any version of Mario Party so take with that what you will.

before the talk, I played 3 mp series.(mario party 8, mario party 9, super mario party.) In my opinion, this video shows mp9's bad parts clearly. 1. the story mode problem. We have to co-op and defeat shy guy and kamek during the game, but cpu don't co-op with us. and let the bad guys win. 2. * Too Much RNG* When your luck is bad, it means No item, No good advantage, no mimigame to earn ministar. If a good luck, than game goes very easy, and everything is opposite with the bad luck part. except these two worst things, it is fun to play. (also good themes) anyway, if this rule come to next party, hope to relate the rng part.

I was 11 when this game came out, and even then, as an easy to please preteen, I didn't enjoy this game much. I think I played each map once before giving up on it and going back to 8. I didn't like the ministar system, every single map being linear was very boring, the minigames were forgettable at best, and the car system felt boring when you weren't playing and unfair when something bad happened or out of your control if you missed out on something. It's not necessarily a BAD game, but it's just not fun to play.

I'll agree on the party mode having too much RNG, but the reason I disagree with your final verdict is because of the side modes. For people that like the minigames and hate the car mechanic they give you the best of both worlds. Too many MP9 detractors say it's the worst because of party mode while completely ignoring the rest of the game, and it's not fair to say the whole game is bad when you didn't even play the whole game.

​@@GamingAllday-tm4ltbasically, all the previous Mario Parties had boards where each player moves on their own and chooses wich path wants to take (also the map wasn't a straight line), this allowed players to make their own strategies and allowing the existence of other mechanics (like: dice/items shops, traps, items than trigger when you pass by other player...). But, since in MP9 all the players go together; a lot of these mechanics were removed, alogside most of the player's control and planning. In short, they removed a lot of mechanics that were part of the identity of the game, making the "parties" more random and more restritive. Don't take me worng, I also like Mario Party 9 overall and had much fun with it, but most of the playerbase (including myself) didn't like those changes

The worst is MP 8, Litterally once in the final lvl of solo mode, that works that wins who gets 5 stars starting from 3 and I was first, then shy guy used an object that let you go for half of the map and they let you steal stars and me and a cpu both were in the path, so shy guy won.

Imo, no. I’m a big fan of both 9 and 10. I grew up watching gameplay videos of both, and grew really fond of modes like Boss Rush and Bowser Mode, even really enjoyed the car mechanic tbh. Still really enjoyed the games when I played them for myself years later. I was born in the late 2000s so I didn’t get the chance to play the ones that came before them, so that may be a contributing factor to my love for both lmao 😭 But yeah in general, to me, they’re really overhated and can genuinely be a lot of fun depending on your history with the series.

mario party 9, the game that LOVES halving your shit and thus invalidating all your skill with 1 event space. thats why i hate mp9. everything is rng and even if you have luck with ministars you just hit a "halve mini stars" space and you lose and the boss fights where the player whose turn it was gets unearned bonus stars. 2nd place sets them equal to 1st, in the boss games where your skill also sometimes gets invalidated cause "hahahaha he got the last hit he shits score and wins now"
