My mother is exactly the same. She hit me, she watched her boyfriend and my brother hit me, she lied and told everyone lies about me, she manipulated me into thinking i was bad, she pulled my hair and lifted me by the hair and threw me across the room and sat on me and hold my mouth and nose so i couldnt breath and chased me and threatend me and pushed me and shoved me into corners screaming at me and forced herself into my room, she scratched me, i remeber having marks of her nails on my arms for most of my childhood. she used to throw herself on the floor, like a complete mad man, just throw herself backwards on the floor, screaming, then when my brother and her boyfriend came running she pointed at me and was shaking and said she hit me she hit me, but i had done NOTHING, we just arguing and she threw herself on the ground out of nowhere. BUT she still thinks it wasnt that bad and she is maybe not perfect but absolutly not abusive. its sad.

@@audhumbla6927 "Not perfect but ..." Is the most common deflection ever. "Not perfect" excuses the little things they did wrong and gathers sympathy. Claiming their childhood was horrific is another Also "that didn't happen" or "You're remembering wrong" are others Know the truth and refuse to be further abused just because they are family or blood is thicker than water. They didn't protect you as a child, protect yourself now. Physically, emotionally ... Every way possible

But she has been verbally abusive, gaslighting, dominating, undermining my self-esteem completely and to this day she keep inflicting emotional wounds that takes forever to heal. And yet she claims she was a great mom, because "your grandmother hit me with a clog every day and I've never even spanked you!!"
