I've gotten so much respect for game designers from watching your videos. They really have to account for all sorts of nonsense from their playerbase, while still giving someone the idea they're doing good. Which they seem to be pulling off. So that's incredible really. Well done designers.

How does he not know about the secret next event that happens if you get a certain number of those cards in your deck?!” and then went, “Oh. Right. It’s secret.”

@@Revenger373 both cards get an upgrade added to them when you move to the next ring if yu have 4 or more of them. spikedriver colonies get +20 attackk and remove the duplicate on extinguish effect, Automatic Railspikes get +10 magic power and consume, and remove the duplicate on slay effect. because the cards change by getting an upgrade added to them, its best to try and get magic shop or steel shop upgrades before you duplicate to 4 in your deck, so it can overstack the upgrades.

We felt that much of the balance changes they were making were going in the incorrect direction, and that they were putting focus on the wrong things to make an evergreen game. There are still easily fixable niggles that exist in the game from launch, and none of the things that would make content creators go crazy over it was ever implemented.

I think MT is truly an improvement on STS, despite its flaws. MT kind of distills what STS does into (usually) shorter runs, with more available win conditions per run, more overall combinations, and a still difficult play style that remains fair. I'm pretty sure every run of MT is winnable in a way that simply isn't as convoluted as STS (although, I believe STS actually does have unwinnable seeds). Arguably STS has a higher skill ceiling, but at a certain point the level of understanding becomes absurd or impossible to decipher. Even the best STS players (Baalor and crew) can't CONSISTENTLY win every run, or even every other run. Multiple people have 100+ MT win streaks, and they're not always "easy" runs. I value the ability to be that consistent within the game, and find that level of reproducible outcome from high-skill to be testament to its superior design.

18:44 not really an useless card, you probably want to Increase the burnout on the Armor dude to actually get armor here and there as its not giving any armor dying at end of turn. 26:40 your relic causes damage when you use a consume (1 time use) card. 31:22 battle order is Top to bottom, center to outer. So your units dies after the resolve process. 54:30 So the extra damage got you, but I think you could have still won, I think if you let hero tank some damage turn 1, and let the other units on the back to kill, you could have had it a bit under control, but ofc game plays differently and maybe still is a lose. Also when playing this class the heal + burnout is a nice premium card, that heal is super good.

Game is good and could be great if it got a couple of final balance passes, but there are some characters/decks that are shockingly terrible (umbra, for ex) and some that are shockingly easy (imp queen for ex), for no explicable reason other than either laziness or lack or QA. There are mods that fix this, but balance "mods" always kind of leave a certain less-than-pleasant taste in my mouth. It wouldn't kill the actual devs to simply do a balance patch to make some of the more horrible builds and cards actually playable...
@shemsuhor87635 ай бұрын
And yeah, STS has some "bad cards" but nothing is as unplayable bad as, say, mine collapse. You can win A20 runs with a clash build if the stars align. Nothing in MT makes a card like mine collapse playable ever, it's just always bad.

@@shemsuhor8763mine collapse is good. Can clear backline, gives you energy, goes well with emberdrain, a lot of upgrades are good on it (-1, +10, +20 consume, +10 piercing or +30 let you play it for free)
@shemsuhor8763Ай бұрын
@@MrTrixton in the niche scenario where your draw order lines up and you have a viable kill target for mine collapse on a turn when you start with zero energy without having other cards that already solve this (like a holdover or multiple copies of the perils of production which is probably the culprit causing you to have emberdrain to begin with), then yes, mine collapse is playable (assuming it has a +damage added to it so that it actually does something on 0 cost play, meaning you're at least past ring 1 to have invested in your mine collapse). Consider mine collapse compared to, say, glimmer with a +damage buff which can simultaneously heal and clear half or more of a floor for only the cost of a 10 and pierce. But mine collapse was maybe a poor example. How about something like Ice Tornado or Enflame with their ridiculous costs of 3 and 2 energy. I can admit "unplayable" is hyperbole, but the point still stands that some of these cards are wildly just horrible for their costs. There's a school of thought where "they have to have horrible cards in the game to balance the game" but that just seems silly considering they could have added extra dead draws or extra train stewards to the starting deck or something instead of creating purposefully energy-deficient cards and purposefully energy-efficient cards. It doesn't make sense to design this way. If there are cards that exist only to bait the player or make the deck or selection pools worse, surely there was a better way to achieve the same outcome without the creation of "unplayable" or terrible cards? Perhaps a better example of this would be Enflame, Rage Serum, and Fortify. Rage Serum costs 0 but consumes and only adds 3 rage (6,4,2 damage without modifiers [+10 total damage over 3 turns]) to a single card. The only purpose for such a card is a free play on Diligence or removing it from your deck (which eats a precious vortex slot or costs gold). There's almost no scenario where you playing a rage serum to eat the consume will uniquely matter more than any other option you could've played. At the same time, there's a +5 armor card that also costs zero and does NOT have consume. Then, in the same deck, we get Enflame, which has 1 more rage than Rage Serum and the same armor output as Fortify, does not consume, but costs TWO energy? The value of these cards makes no sense. Sure, any of them is individually "playable" but there's no coherence here in what they are valuing to justify card cost. 3 rage with consume is, apparently, worth zero energy. 5 armor is worth 0 energy. +1draw (combing the cards) and +1 rage without consume suddenly makes the card cost TWO energy? But Engraft is energy neutral with no modifications and draws a card as well as providing a heal option (which is more useful for triggering unit procs than for its heal, but just like mine collapse you could, if you needed to, make it a useful heal as well). Engraft provides comically higher value than Enflame, Rage Serum, or Fortify. Or, maybe Hoarfrost Effigy is an even better example. A universally acknowledged terrible card in MT - and not even because it has incoherent cost issues (although it does), but because it's nearly impossible to ever use it effectively. What's the ideal use case for this card? Somehow if a player found themselves in a turn with 3 energy where they managed to apply a bunch of frost bite on floor 1 or 2 to a miniboss or really tanky unit that also didn't kill the other enemies on the floor, you could, for THREE energy, take that frost off of the enemies that initially survived it (meaning they live and advance to the next floor) and transfer it to the miniboss, and then double it. This card is unbelievably convoluted and terrible. Even at 0 cost finding opportunities to use it would be rare. But at 3 cost it only exists to troll the player and dilute the reward pool.

@bjoernpagaming24855 ай бұрын
The dlc makes runs more complex. It introduces pact shards, which is a mechanic that lets you get some great upgrades at the cost of giving enemies buffs too. In my opinion, it is very much worth buying if you like the base game :)
@diegomastro56815 ай бұрын
The dlc adds a lot, but you should be at least familiar with the game to appreciate it. If you can win basic runs then yes, absolutely. It has a mechanic where you can make your cards BUSTED but you pay for it with increased difficulty for the rest of the run, there's a new clan, new events and relics, and a new final boss
