It used to be the standard placement for the power connector for many years going as far back as to when they had Molex connections. However in the last decade or so having them on top have become common. I’m guessing because cards have become so long and cases thicker that it makes more sense.

I got a Innosilicon Fantasy No.2, it came in a plain brown box. 😅 It's interesting that MTT is more focused on Windows, with their PES software, where with Innosilicon Windows is a second thought. They are more focused on Domestic Linux Distributions. Fantasy No.2 is more.like your MTT S30. My Fantasy No.2 only has DDR4 also.
