When I was going through severe Benzodiazepine withdrawal (brain and CNS damage) one of the doctors I went to for help tole me I wasn't going through withdrawal.. He said I had suddenly became manic depressive and wanted to put me on MORE medication. After about 3 years of hell on earth withdrawal from the benzo's...I am 100% back to normal ... NOT BIPOLAR!!!

Same here, after 1 year off. Fortunately I've read enough that I know now it's probably benzo withdrawal after tapering too fast. Good to hear you are doing fine.

Same Here. I was on klonopin for 10 years and went off of it cold turkey with only 7 days of phenobarbital to manage the symptoms. A few weeks later life got stressful and I didn't sleep for a week. I felt suicidal and ended up driving myself to the hospital. Biggest mistake of my life. They put me on depakote and risperidone and now I'm not sure if I'll ever be the same again. You are extremely lucky you made it through and were able to avoid being put on bipolar meds.

Here's a hot take, but nonetheless what I believe to be the truth. Mania can be caused by a number of factors, and will resolve completely with time if stressors are removed and the person is able to sleep. When given antipsychotics like risperidone, after a month or so it will induce a chemical depression that is literally brain damage. It happens like a switch and is very frightening. The doctors will tell you that this change is the result of an organic brain illness. In bipolar it is called the depressive phase, in schizophrenia it is called negative symptoms. Bipolar and schizophrenia are the only conditions said to be neurodegenerative illnesses. Bipolar and schizophrenia are the only two that are typically treated with antipsychotics. See a pattern here? It is my theory that this mental atrophy is the result of brain damage from the drugs, not an underlying condition. That being said, I have no way of proving this (aside from the countless testimony of survivors who claim these changes happened only after being put on the medication). It'd be interesting to give 6 months of depakote and risperidone to test subjects that are in good health and see what happens. If you're reading this and everything is starting to make sense, please be warned: withdrawing from the medications abruptly will just cause more brain damage. Please find an expert who can guide your taper. As for pediatric bipolar, children who have behavior problems and are sleeping normally every night are not experiencing mania. This is preposterous. The child most certainly has emotional issues if they are presenting as irritable. The irritability that presents in bipolar disorder is 90% a result of the medications. The side effects of many mood stabilizers list "new or worsening irritability". What modern medicine has come to know as bipolar disorder is a combination of life stressors, drug side effects, and drug injury. Psychiatry has progressed from false principles leading what they believe to be true to be incorrect. I know this might sound unbelievable to someone who hasn't lived through this, or even to someone who has, but please keep an open mind here. This is worth investigating. This never has to happen to anyone ever again.

And Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD)! It often gets misdiagnosed as Bipolar Disorder. It can start from first menstruation (menarche) or even a few months before (as hormones start fluctuating) for some people! IAPMD (International Association of Premenstrual Disorders) has great resources on it.

False dichotomy. What has transpired that led to these events is not capitalism since the medical industry has been lobbying for decades, which is antithetical to the idea of pure capitalism; yet it is scapegoated as the root of the problems, when the real issue is that it is publicly seen as capitalism when the definition of it is obfuscated and deliberately sabotaged by those who want to seize power democratically by controlling the language of the public zeitgeist on the systems that permit functioning societies to run with minimal abrasions. Any other system at this point would mean that none of us receive consistent replenishment of necessary resources to live in comfy modern lives that allow you to watch and comment on KZbin.

Maybe the parents who drag their children to a shrink should get a mental health check, too? Narcissism, covert and overt, as well as munchhausen by proxy aren't that rare, and the victims of it usually waste years of their lives figuring out, what's wrong. Narcissism is a delusional disorder as well and the problem with this disorder is, it's not the sick person that suffers but the one who has to deal with this, like children and they start to act out and/or have symptoms as a reaction to the mental/emotional or even physical abuse. The medical system is overused by covert narcissistic mothers who thrive on the mental illness of their children, because they get narcissistic supply and admiration out of it. (Because they are sooo caring.) I'm not speaking for all, but quite a large number of mothers exhibits this type of behavior. And I'm pretty sure, this problem is mentioned just as a sidenote, if at all, in a psychiatrist's education.

You are 100% correct on all accounts and thank you for speaking out. As a child of 2 different types of narcissistic-borderline parents, I had to take various drugs and medications my entire life just to cope with their presence and the personality disordered traits, depression and anxiety that they inflicted on me. It wasn't until I got into a relationship with a full blown malignant narcissist at age 42 that I really got a grasp on the understanding that most people diagnosed as bipolar were actually just narcissists cycling. I worked for a psychiatrist all through college and had many diagnoses and took a lot of medication until I reached my breaking point and everyone will, eventually. These medications contain toxic heavy metals which are the culprits behind any true diagnosis. I've also studied NPD in depth for 6 years, now. Sam Vaknin is the most informative expert but i follow many. There is a massive confusion and crossover that very few people are aware of if you don't have vast experience in both worlds of psychiatry and narcissism. I'd love to connect with you and work to get this message out. What's really sick is that big pharma profits most off of perpetuating narcissism. Another worthy note is that alcoholism and narcissism go hand in hand. They are almost interchangeable with denial of reality being the most damaging and prominent trait of both . If you live in an area that was ravaged by alcohol during prohibition, the alcoholism continues through the generations, the population of your town could be ravaged with alcoholism and narcissism. In such cases, these parents want to blame anyone else but themselves, so of course they will jump on a diagnosis and pills to control their child so they don't have to do the work themselves or take any responsibility. Its so tragic.

@@ATeitter When it comes to narcissism, you are directly at the root cause of evil in society. Vaknin is a great source for infos about narcissism. There are a lot of parallels to psychiatry. What happens in those therapy sessions are those narcissistic "snapshots", the framing and projection based on the diagnose and the splitting between "professional" and "patient" which leads to more projection. Next to it is, that the patient isn't seen as a person within a family/work/society system, but isolated, therefore, the context and the interplay between action/reaction is completely neglected. When it comes to alcohol, same goes for psych drugs, they create brain damage and along with it the so called anosognosia or lack of self awareness, which causes that the drugged up person just sees the reactions of the reciever and blames the reciever who gets labeled as mentally ill. Narcissists usually are aware of what they are doing. As a child on the recieving end it doesn't matter, because the result stays the same. The guilt/shame about their alcoholism contributes to narcissism, so there's definetely a correlation. Malignant narcs... yep, those are... are those people? It's unbelieveable what amount of damage they can do. I hope you got out of this situation? People wouldn't believe that those kind of folks exist until they have encountered one. Psychiatry also has its roots in eugenics and the third reich. I can also draw a lot of parallels to the holocaust and why it happened. And mk ultra's goals was, to control what people think, how they feel and how they behave. I don't think they failed. Quick test: tell people you are diagnosed with a serious mental illness and refuse to get "help"... Society is perfectly trained. 🤡 Also the language that we learned to use is full of devaluation. Narcissistic abuse quite normalized in society and I totally agree with you, that those issues cause a lot of mental distress as well as physical issues like blood pressure, autoimmune diseases, partly cancer. We have created a sick society. And also (social) media is fully supportive of narcissism. The social interactions that are portrait in tv are also harmful with normalizing shitty behavior like gossiping, cheating, betraying. If you think about it, it's not only psychiatry, this is everywhere, and if you have a problem with it: go, see a mental health expert and continue the bullcrap on another level. And now that you have a diagnosis: you're the problem, no matter what, and everyone else has a "get out of jail for free" card. Works great for the parent and also the health system. We created a lot of systems that don't work. It doesn't even work for the narcs in the long run... maybe we just created too much damaged brains by drugs, fast foods, porn, misinformation. I guess all those things play a role.

Very strange... I just wrote u a long comment on a condition I had suffered from and the comment vanished!!!!! Because of the controversial condition I'm sure!! So let me write s shorter version. I am an advocate of PANDAS. And I try to spread awareness about it..especially to parents who have children who seemingly develop psychiatric symptoms overnight ,especially OCD, anxiety, I described mine like a brain hiccup. At age 10 I developed OCD overnight... I couldn't stop running, food rituals, cleaning repeatedly, it was horrible I felt like my brain was hiccuping and could not stop.
