I think that road course racing is a good thing for Nascar for a few reasons 1: The current cars do drive slightly like sportscars (according to McDowell) 2: It allows for more areas of North America to be reached as many international markets primarily have road courses 3: It can bring in international intrest even if there are series' in Europe and Canada 4: International drivers can now enter more races since they are used to road courses, we can even widen it to GT, Formula E, and Brazilian Stock Cars 5: If some tracks don't work, there are other options, tracks like Texas are highly disliked nowadays and if Nascar wants to keep racing in certain states/provinces, they can use road courses

I'm all for having more road course races, especially now with the current cars that are more suited for road courses than before. HOWEVER they must get rid of the stages when they are at road courses. You simply cannot have pre-determined cautions in road course racing, that's idiotic. So I've been watching NASCAR seriously for 21 years. In 2001, the first true year I got into it, and before the Daytona 500 started, I put together a fantasy schedule for a fantasy series I wrote (including my middle school peers as drivers) and, given how it was influenced by NASCAR 2001 (which had more than 5 road courses), I initially included 8 road courses in a 32-race schedule: WG, Sonoma, and six fantasy courses including a season-finale street course at New York (which I scrapped because I was 12 and sensitive to the 9/11 attacks). But ever since then, I've remained convinced that a third or a quarter of the schedule is what road courses should occupy. Outside of that, the previous generations of cars made it hard to justify the bevy of 1.5-milers when Watkins Glen and even Sonoma at times slowly developed into must-watch races. If there's anything I'd add, it's that each road course needs to feel different from the other. COTA feels like its own thing. Indy RC is a great course (watch the 2020 Xfinity race and tell me I'm wrong), but Charlotte already owns the ROVAL card. Road America is awesome and it rolls through a forest, but Watkins Glen already does that (and has more memorable turns like the inner-loop and the penultimate Turn 10). A street course would be a wonderful-looking addition, but once the road courses become too samey, then you run into the same problem you created with the rise of the 1.5-mile tri-oval.

One of the reasons why I love stock cars is their ability to run on many types of circuits. They can run on road courses, short tracks, superspeedways and they still can put on a good show. The increase in road courses was nice with the gen6 car, as it meant we didn’t have to suffer through as many 550hp 1.5 milers. With the NextGen, the 1.5 milers have produced great racing (outside of Texas), so I don’t want to lose any more of them. Also, I’d rather have a few more short track races than road courses. Honestly, I’d rather get rid of Sonoma and just stick with Watkins Glen, COTA, Road America, and the Charlotte Roval, while also giving Charlotte 2 oval dates

This sounds similar to how indycar fans were bitching about having too many oval races in the 2000s

There’s no too many road courses as long as it produces good racing

I think this is perfect amount, maybe take off 1 or 2 in favor of short tracks like you said. I've always liked road courses, but I don't understand the street course hype. They just about always suck in open wheel racing. People want close, hard racing where you can pass, and street courses don't do that. And we saw how bad the Pro Invitational race was, nothing happened except lap 1 And Johnson actually didn't need the win there to advance, he just wanted to break the longest winless streak of his career (that continued 😭) iirc and first full-time season without a win

I think they have the perfect number now. Look how many mile-and-a-half races that the cup series used to have…….. I never used to like road courses, but once they added the Roval, my views on them totally changed.

I am a rare case of an older Nascar fan (50 years old) who is embracing many of the new changes to the sport. I like the playoffs, I even like stage racing, and I'm loving more than 2 road courses a year. I'm not advocating for a ton of them, but I would like to see the cup series at other courses. Don't do the same 6 or 7 every year to open opportunities for others like Laguna Seca or Sebring to host a NASCAR weekend. I would love to see what happens when you get four or five cup cars close enough to throw a blanket over headed into Laguna Seca's infamous corkscrew, or see who has the nerve to brake later headed into one of Sebring's hairpins at the end of a long straightaway. Is Road Atlanta still in operation?

i think they need to have a set number of slots for them, 3 of them guaranteed for Sonoma, The Glen and The Roval, and then rotate the rest every year depending on how many slots you want to alot , you get the staples and then showcase other road courses around the country

They could get rid of a few, but I really enjoy some of the road courses. And I have gotten several of my friends into watching NASCAR by showing them the road courses. They assumed NASCAR was only ovals. I never could have got them into the sport by showing them a short oval track.

Years ago I was against the Roval and all of this. I am now for it but they need to bring back the Indianapolis motor Speedway oval for the Brickyard 400 and Chicagoland. Don’t my losing one or twoFor those to come back

If anything, I'd maybe like to see them run the oval at Indy again. But other than that, I think we have a good amount of Road Courses. Street Course would be cool!

Nascar should do 4 to 5 road course. This assuming they cut down the schedule to 30

I love the road courses on the circuit I think it gives the drivers a better opportunity to show their talent. Same this the dirt race (except it definitely shouldn't be at Bristol). Also yeah stage cautions shouldn't happen at road courses

NASCAR should go for a 50/50 split between road courses and ovals. But they need to stop the stage racing AT LEAST for road courses.

I'd like to see Road Atlanta instead of Sonoma, maybe VIR instead of the Charlotte "roval", and well, then, a total removal of short tracks, that's what Nascar needs to do more than anything...
