NASCAR needs all the “fans” to shut the hell up,sit back, and appreciate the hours of entertainment that these teams and drivers provide. It’s as enjoyable to watch now as it was 30 years ago when I started following.

Setting aside their off track adversity and upbringings (which some fans still admire more than race results), on-track Adversity during the heyday of 90-00s superstars mentioned gave us fans a window into their driving talent and mental makeup that we won't get today due to safety advancements and the huge gap in racing tech. Historically NASCAR was more unpredictable, raw, grimey and gritty, from pit crews to drivers, that was entertainment magic. We want to keep safety advancements, but I think NASCAR needs to purposefully set back some tech advancements and let teams tinker more with a few things. Now.. idk what those are exactly, but I'm 100% sure it'd add ulcers to the folks drawing up team budgets, and a more exciting product!! Tires is low hanging fruit after yesterday's Bristol race. Reducing hardness of tires is logical because it brings all the skills of any given team onto the screen. Perhaps our woefully missed entertainment magic isn't gone forever if NASCAR makes this tough decision to go away from tires that never fail. Teams won't like it because it's less predictable and adds costs and risks, but it may also bring desperately wanted attention that pays the bills a little better and attracts fans to sponsors in a more visceral way.
