The mycoprotein study he mentions at the end is interesting. I see more products using mycoprotein these days and curious to see more research on it.

BUT.... If you eat, say 10 x your daily required protein but don't move a muscle ... You will lose it right? isn't muscle growth more dependant on using them and far less about diet??
@mikafoxx27177 ай бұрын
Yeah, this. Overall average energy balance also matters a lot. In a deficit you lose muscle much easier since it's an expensive tissue and the body doesn't want to starve. During excess, we put on some muscle at the same muscle use. You can put on muscle in a deficit if you ask the muscles hard enough, though.

however, the ecological arguments for veganism are overwhelming. i recently re-watched a video by Gil where he showed a study that said that if the world went vegan, that would cut global ghg emissions by 28%! that's massive. unfortunately the world won't go vegan any time soon, but at the very least we should all avoid red meat, as that is the worst food for the environment (unless it's lab-grown i guess).

You should only get diet advice from a real Ph.D in nutritional biochemistry with awards and honors and or a Nobel Prize with a long term track record of being right such as Roger J. Williams, Frederick Gowland Hopkins, Fred Kummerow, George H. Whipple, William Parry Murphy, Edward Adelbert Doisy. All 6 would say the same that Linus Pauling said that meat, poultry, fish and eggs are good for you in moderation and that dairy is ok in small amounts if you like it and are not allergic to it. Gil Carvalho at this time has zero + zero = zero.

For me remaining 72% shows that we may need to focus on different targets like clean energy. Being vegan you need to watch your diet to get all that you need and mqy have problem with b1w, Being vegetarian is safer and bei g omnivorous easiest.

Absolutely but it’s not about plant vs animal. Soy and plant protein blends with mostly pea are comparable vs animal protein. If they were your only or main sources you would need a similar amount as an animal protein eater. However if your sources are grains and other legumes you need a lot more. Instead of maximising growth with 1.6 you would probable need closer to 2.5g per kg if you were plant based and zero soy and isolated plant protein
@David-e4l4o7 ай бұрын
Not agree you coul eat seitan, Lentil and black bean. Seitan is super high protein. But love soy :adadame, tempeh, soy milk. I dont know where you get your 2.5.... But one famous protein specialist said that a meal with more 45 gram doesn't matter ehat type of protein
@knockingseeker7 ай бұрын
@@David-e4l4o True Seitan is an isolated plant protein 45g would prob be enough. Lentil and other grains legumes are not. The reason you would need more is the lower leucine content and lower digestibility. More research is needed but A new study showed that a quinoa and bean meal with oer 45g of protein elevated protein synthesis around 60% of an animal protein meal. They were pretty old but basically it’s not as simple as plant protein bs animal. Some plant foods have a lower digestibility and not all the amino seem to be absorbed into the bloodstream. This does not mean that they are not healthier than animal protein they are but to get the full growth effects you need much more protein. Could be 45g could be up to 80g from some foods

Was the 6g EAA plus 6g of whey protein outperforming a 18g dose of whey protein supposed to be 6g EAA + 6g of SOY protein or was he just referring to the benefit of using EAA?

I like some of your nutrition interviews, but I wish you would concentrate a lot more on the most important thing, metabolic health. Like your best interview ever with INIGO SAN MILLAN. That was gold and diamonds!!! They are now figuring out that metabolic health, is the entire foundation and nutrition is more like icing on the cake in comparison, not the foundation. *Please do a ton more ultra deep dive interviews with the best sports scientists (experts in bioenergetics) in the world who are actually doing the scientific testing on maximum mitochondrial expression and metabolic health. I’ve watched your interview with Inigo more times than I can count now.

Can we extrapolate these findings to women as well as men or were the subjects mostly men as often is the case?

Afraid those two avoid anyone that doesn't echo back their message. Paul Saladino seems to be one of the only one that chats up people that he doesn't agree with. I used to be part of the keto cult but their arguments are a facade and fall apart with any scientific scrutiny. If you think Ancel Keys was a fraud, well, he lived to 100. His other colleagues from the study lived to 102 and another is currently 97 and healthy. What are the chances of that, if their diet is bogus? Changed my mind.

Whey protein for the win..🏆 Calories per protein+all amino acid I don’t understand why you keep pushing that soy or pea protein will be better Button line if you eat enough of it, you will be fine no ?

I think the argument also needs to invovle gmo. As gmo anything has very bad effects. Personally i still think it depends on individuals but for me meat protien if clean and not loaded with chemicals and additives is absolutely the best. Can not turn iron into gold. Well fed organic and nautural meat with optimal options and verity, happy lives produces the best possible protien. But this is expensive and rare animals are given clean water and food most try and do it as cheap as possible.

I don't know how it affects men, but drinking organic soy milk, two glasses a day, raised my cup size from a B cup to DD cup in about 8 months.

I think that may be the issue for men with soy milk as well.
