I don’t have a race requirement for dating but I’d say that the person having a developed racial identity (meaning they’ve reflected and processed their own racial identity and have a strong self awareness about it personally and on a societal level) is something that would be important to me. Also, inherently valuing and respecting each others perspectives and cultures and having a positive curiosity toward each other’s points of views is valuable too.
@Senii2100 Жыл бұрын
That first thing applies when dating a person from the USA. There are countries where we don’t have to worry about racial awareness, we just identify with nacionality and culture.

Americans are truelly sick people, wtf a developed racial identity? that's having similar values to nazis who not coincidentally based their views on race on the views that were present in the U.S., and sadly believed to be normal and even viewed as something positive . Americans aren't even able to tell me what race i am but believe it's rational to build their identity on it. racial identity in the US issen't based on reality, my family has more african in it than half of people in the US who believe to be black racially when they clearly aren't, if a white lady can act as the black head of an organisation fighting for her people, it's maybe time to start questioning the rationality of how people are viewed.

I'm Irish living in Ireland so I didn't rly grow up focusing on race unlike Americans. My mum does not like a lot of ethnicities. But I know she doesn't like them for cultural reasons instead of "race" reasons. Her most hated ethnicity is the Irish travellers. They're very similar to gypsies in terms of culture. I honestly think if I brought home a traveller she would ring them up on the side and pay them not to date me. However, if I brought home a traveller who was educated and didn't practice the majority of traveller culture, she'd have a huge amount of respect for them and probablythink they were too good for me. Some of the people she admires most are travellers who are no longer travellers. Same goes for 90% of immigrants. She looks down on them unless they fully practice Irish culture. It can look like racism on the outside, but I know it's cultural discrimination since she would be happy to accept black people as long as they're Irish (and educated). Anyway. Its very hard to deal with my mum when she makes you feel like crap for having non-Irish friends. I definitely subconsciously choose partners she'd approve of. This affects what races I date since most Irish people are white. Fun fact: My mum doesn't discriminate against mixed kids (where one parent practices an Irish culture she approves of) because she knows the Irish parent will make sure their kid knows Irish culture. Second of all, she accepts some cultures like British, Indian, Estonian and pacific islanders. (Sorry to the Americans who thought they'd make this list, but my mum will immediately judge you negatively)

@thelonercoder5816 Жыл бұрын
As a black man who has dated pretty much all races, race both does/doesn't matter. When it comes to attraction, if you're generally conventionally attractive, you'll have no issue attracting women of any race. I actually attract more white women than I do women my own race and they make more of an effort to date me... However, the issue comes in when stereotypes and "culture" comes in. I personally do not ascribe race with culture. But there are soo many people who do. Like you'll have girls who see me and push cultural stereotypes on me, while others do not. And for the ones who do assume stereotypes, they may lose interest when it doesn't match reality. But for the most part, dating has been fine for me since i'm considered "conventionally attractive".

@@thelonercoder5816 I'm genuinely curious as to why a woman exclusively dating black men bothers you? There are several women who aren't white that exclusively date white men. I've never heard a white man be turned off or even remotely bothered by that. I've even seen white men that prefer that. What's the issue in your case?
@thelonercoder5816 Жыл бұрын
@@ATheMansa because it's obvious that it's a fetish and it usually comes with stereotypes around blackness/afrocentrism. Like, for example, last year I went on a date with a white woman who seemed pretty chill. Super relaxed, etc. Never mentioned anything about race. This was until we got onto the topic of past relationships. I subtly asked her if she dated outside her race often and she laughed and said "ofc, I only date black guys". I thought she was joking at first but I probed and she revealed to me that eventhough she literally grew up around majority white people, she specifically went for black men lmao! Then she started to generalize all white guys saying how she hated how "corny" they were and like how assertive/masculine black guys were. How could I not feel fetishized after hearing this? IDK man. It just rubs me the wrong way when women specifically go after black men like me. It just feels like they don't appreciate me for my individuality/personality and only want me based on stereotypes thinking i'm "packing" down there or am some super macho athletic black dude. Dont even get me started on the amount of times I get "BBC" jokes/questions from white women..

@@regal222 What do you mean by "race" exactly? When I think of "race" I simply think of the physically distinguishable traits of different native populations (of course, there are no actual races among humans, just different phenotypes). Running on this definition, then your race (physical phenotype) absolutely does NOT define your culture - what defines your culture is your place of upbringing, not your physical appearance. While we observe that physical phenotypes and cultures tend to be closely intertwined geographically, that doesn't mean that one is necessarily dependent on the other. Because you can have people being born and growing up outside of their ancestral native population. Enculturation is a social process, not biological. So your physical appearance has nothing to do with your beliefs, opinions, values, traditions, prejudices... your culture. Your culture is the result of the "collective mind" in which you were raised from a young age.

People connect based on how they think, believe, and experience things in life, not just on melanin. I know Black women I vibe with and others I have ABSOLUTELY nothing in common with. Same for white women, Mexican women, Asian women, even Persian women (my late father's widow is Iranian). I let people live though...this is in one way great to see, but in another, exhausting.
