I can testify to the lightweight of carbon rims, game changer stuff. Shocking difference to see a scale showing the numbers. This was cool, can only imagine the Ti Laird...
@mikejoned71483 жыл бұрын
I have heard nothing but bad things and seen a Laird frame in 2 PC after one run through a decent size trail line. There are a few guys who ride those frames and soft landings and no landings like Scotty and his clip pedals. I know he got worked and super cool that he is ok. Knowing him when the cameras not on him not the best homie kinda a asshole who spends more money then he brings in . he is not as a rad guy as most think. Reason why big boy said piece I know the whole story the truth from a very reliable source .
@nomdeguerre133 жыл бұрын
@@mikejoned7148 good to know Mike, appreciate the feedback. I have a steel frame waiting to be made, so hopefully that is "better". Not surprised on the not so nice guy stuff off camera, many celeb people are like this, sort of a bummer, but so it goes.
@bmxriderforlife1234 Жыл бұрын
@@mikejoned7148 most guys go far too light on their ti frames. It's 40 percent lighter than 4130. But most frames are heat treated these days. So it's less. Most dudes cut like close to a 3rd of weight off a frame some get close to that 40 percent number. You really don't want anything lighter than 3.5 pounds and that'd be for a weenie design. And most ti frames are design like chromo frames. You need alot more control of the tubes for ti frames. And most people wouldn't like what you'd have to do. Tapered steerer tubes larger tube diameters. You'd need hydroformed tubes. Stays would have to be squared off. Flared sections all over. Weld quality is also an issue. And given we have steels that can beat ti strength to weight. For less money it's not really worth it anymore. Unless you're trying to hit 14 pounds like my planned ti build. That said I'm using semi production ti parts to save alot of money. Eastern ti reaper. The new ones and the early ones don't have the bad weld problems. Ti eastern bars. Ti laird forks. Rnc ti cranks. Eclat carbon rims. Butted or ti spokes. Tree rear cassette hub ti center axle and bolts 7p75 or ti driver. Lighter than a profile and should hold uo to street. Bsd planetary coaster same dealio to bits wise. Race stem. Fly brakes. Lots of little details. Khe 2.3 front and a 1.95 rear that's lighter than a khe. Should hold up fine to average daily riding. The og eastern video by vital on the original ti reaper show cases what they can handle if done properly. Big stuff sure still sketchy sometimes. But that's also like 2006 or 7. And a properly designed ti frame would hold up even better. It's likely the laird frame you say was either designed with tubes that weren't ideal. Or a bsd weld happened and laird usually will weld them back up for you if they can be saved. Cory from scottys channel show cases what happens with bad tube sets even without a Crack. He bulged his frame. Realistically even with ti. If you wanted properly designed. Like 16 or 17 pounds is the lightest you can go. 24mm spindles cranks. Ti arms. Tapered headtube and steerer tube. Oversized bars that don't taper down to 22.2mm till after the final bends. Likely have to move up a seat tube diameter. Snd would require some externally machined sections Hydro formed ti tube sets. And like ultrasonic Cleaning processes. Snd really top notch welding machines or welders.

For now maybe. Tree rear hub to center axle ti driver or 7075 driver. Far east cycles front hub alloy shell ti internals. Bsd version of the planetary coaster. Ti axle shemale modded. Ti axle bolt 7075 axle nut. 7075 driver or titanium. Butted ti or berd spokes. Alloy nipples. Hubs save me like a good few ounces of weight. Alloy rims can beat the carbons in some regards. But even heavier carbons can equal out. Tire choice also matters snd most people run khe for weenie purposes but you can beat them for a rear tire. You can also technically beat tubolitos.

Quick question for Phu… why do bike shops sell e-bikes but when it comes for repair or tune-up for it , they wont touch it even if its just a quick fix?? im from the bay area, and these bike shops sell e-bikes but wont repair anything even if its a small fix(flat,brake pads,bleeding brake oil. etc…)

Probably cuz it'll void the warranty if anyone but the actual factory does the tinkering.

@@nomdeguerre13we weighed Supercross carbon fiber hoops and they weighed more than the Al Alienation wheels. However I believe the carbon fiber hoops are stiffer, which in a racing application, I'd think you'd want. I also only know how much that brand weighed.

Well look at who's bike that was and it shows his real personality that he hides when the cameras are rolling . he is a absolutely not as cool as you think. Seems like he started his own frame company I would say that those are high end Taiwanese built frames and actually the Taiwanese frames are not as bad as what people think they are what I ride one would I ride one no I only ride American made fbm no longer in business or S&M or a few single frame builders. I was lucky enough to get a custom FBM built before crand man put a end to it . I also have a FIT HARTBRAKER that is a solid shred sled if your into trails
