Thank you for the video mate, I’m in the gold coast and both of our showers have had cracked grout lines and two or three cracked tiles, Unfortunately our showers have had existing leaks from years upon years of use but fortunately a couple of your videos have given me reassurance in what to do and how to go about it till we can afford a full bathroom renovation.

Hi Tane, im in Gold Coast as well, and we are on the same boat. There are crack on tiles and leaking to the lower storey. Have you tried the method above ?

@@sangpham9685 hi yes I am currently waiting one more day for my regrout to cure then I’ll be sealing it. I my second shower is also leaking with cracked tiles, I’m going to be replacing those cracked tiles and reflecting the entire shower floor and repeating the sealing process in there also. It’s not recommended but I also retrofitted a puddle flange under the shower where the shower drain comes out, it’s not done properly or to building code but it will do for now till we can do a full renovation on the bathrooms. I’d recommended you replace any and all cracked tiles, remove them from the shower floor and let the floor dry out a little bit. If you’re gonna do it yourself, Remove the wet shower base screed and old grout dry it out with a heat gun, and do a coat of Bondcrete in that area then re screed those effected areas and re tile the area with suitable tile and thinset, regrout the entire shower floor and make sure to allow the new thinset, screed and grout suitable time to dry out(I’d give it at least a week for each step as it’s cold weather currently)

Wipe off with a wet cloth, damp, or dry?
@milamou93523 жыл бұрын
When you are wiping the walls down after applying the sealant, doesn't this remove some of the product from the grout? Pardon me if this seems like a stupid question.
@InspireDIY3 жыл бұрын
Hey Mila, great question.. Penetrating or impregnating sealers work differently to a surface sealer, once applied any remaining sealer that has not soaked into the pores of the grout or stone should be wiped away (within 20 mins) so it doesn't leave a hazy, sticky or greasy residue. I hope this answers your Q. best of luck mate, Kent

If you use epoxy grout do you need to waterproof it after?
@InspireDIY Жыл бұрын
Hey Rebel, the installers of this epoxy grout claim that it is a waterproofing fix for a shower. to be fair - it is when its first installed, but with any settling house, any building movement, timber floor etc, which all leaky showers seem to be in then as soon as the epoxy grout separates from the tile then it's not waterproof any more. it wouldn't be my pick as a fix! best of luck mate, Kent

Hey c l, yeah I would👍 scratch back the old grout a few millimeters, then reapply a new layer of grout over the whole lot. Then it’s a personal preference to seal, if you are worried about leaks I would seal as grout is porous like a sponge. Let me know how you get on🤙Kent
