the difference is so slight its not worth worrying about imo. the thicker strings sound slightly bassier but that almost dissapears when you turn the distortion on

Nice one James! I could hear a slight difference e between the gauges on your guitar, orbeit a very small one. I think string gauges is very important for what kind of music you're playing and how you want your strings to feel. For standard tuning I like 9 gauge because I like the strings to be flexible. For Drop C I have a hybrid set, it starts at 10 and ends at 58 I think. It gives me the low end but also the flexibility on the top strings 😁🤘🏻🤘🏻

Agreed, they’re more for the player. I play 11s most of the time on electric because I play lots of acoustic and classical guitar. I just like how 11s feel, plus I play exclusively finger style which feels nicer with thicker strings.
