@@silverhill377 agreed the bike is extremely versatile and one of the few bikes that can really do it all based on this platform. I’m gonna do a couple fuel range tests this week, one on Hwy at “above Hwy speeds” then one on fire roads and mixed in two track. I haven’t really tracked the mpg yet but it just seems to go through the fuel faster on a same route as other bikes I’ve had in the past. Always a trade off, more fuel, more range but more weight bulkier bike etc The bike is definitely fun to ride which is the root concept of owning a bike in the first place…

The tenere is a really good adv bike, probably one of the best available in this cubic range. Currently owning the tenere extreme edition… only fools or newbies would dare to say this bike sucks. There is a few bikes i didn’t like, that’s not a reason for saying they suck. I will just add one exemple why some people like me will be « trigger happy» about your video : you say the skid plate sucks, while you are doing offroad with pirelli rally str, fyi « str » stands for street. Makes no sense since your bike is not even properly setteld. And to add up, my 701 enduro 2023 had a stock plastic skid plate. Ps. The extreme edition has the chain guide, a better rally seat and better fork and shock. Also the range is good… i can sometimes reach 400 kms with 15 liters wich gives approx something like 60mpg, in my experience this is a great range for a 700cc. My 701 was way above in fuel consumption.

@@jrhaines30 your spot on, and realistically yeah the more we ask of the motor the more it gets thirsty! Most of the manufactures will list it on the brochure “55 MPG in BOLD” print then right below “on closed course going 50 mph” in the fine print, but yeah i think everyone wants the ability to go further, get off-road deeper and fuel consumption will hinder that at times. Off-road you don’t have to be going fast, wheel spin with loss of traction or the wrong tires can and will emulate that at slower speeds and still burn up that fuel. I've been riding different bikes for the last 20 years (including 7 on F800Gs and 3 on 850GS, recently sold my 701 Enduro) and in my opinion T7 would be an awesome machine, practically perfect, if they would: 1. fix that subframe with exhaust hanger that ruins swingarm after a minor drop and 2. Make it less top heavy. I very rarely drop bikes, but this one surprised me with how top heavy it was... and I dropped it on the dealers parking lot 😂 the rest are minor things. Most of that stuff works, but suck? i don't know it gets you by for 10 grand. Fun to mod bikes even KTMs anyway. Also what fuel milage are you getting? I'm getting 55-60mpg. If I'm just tooling around.

Agreed the bike will most likely get a lot of people by in stock trim but i have about a $3000 list of "fancy stuff" i'm going to want for setting up to my riding style and liking. Great platform though and i think Yamaha really nailed a consumer needed price point even though it has a few parts that kind of "suck" right out of the box ..... Im gonna pay attention to fuel milage next couple weeks doing a long slab only trip on these stock tires, then gonna do a few sections of the AZ BDR route out by me and track off-road milage. I might be getting over 50-55 but just seems to go fast similar to other adv bikes i have had over the years, i get fuel anxiety, and have definitely run out of fuel more than once out on adventures! I will probably do gas bladders for BDR routes and just a small msr metal fuel cell for local stuff, im not a big fan of the acerbis oversized tank but that is probably the best solution for extended range without strapping some extra stuff to the bike etc

@@swiftlyvexing6669 well I have never personally owned a KLR 650 and I’m pretty sure the KLR and tenere are aprox $4000 apart on msrp depending on the models etc so for the $6500 range considering they haven’t changed much to my knowledge on the base of the klr platform over last several years the klr is pretty much the perfect example of a price point bike. Im not a huge personal fan of the klr specs from what I have seen over the years however I will say the klr and drzs are a great and very capable platform to do just about anything on and priced very affordable with a very deep aftermarket support offering to make them your own etc. I have owned a couple of the drz 400 super Moto platforms back when they first became available and they were definitely limited in stock trim but very fun to ride around town. Side note: Travis Pastrana actually raced a Suzuki drz 400 in the Super-Moto class at one of the first XGames that offered the super Moto class and we had that bike on display in the lobby at our Suzuki race headquarters in chino for awhile and although it was heavily modified from stock it was a drz.
