Does the ALL NEW 2021 Kia K5 disappoint?

Kia has done it again with the 2021 K5. Following on the success of the Telluride they decided to redesign the Optima and change the name. Under the hood of the K5 is a 1.6L turbocharged inline-4 that is producing 180HP & mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The K5 is longer, wider, and lower. On the outside you will find the K5's signature "heartbeat" DRL, and provocative styling. On the inside you will find more interior room because of its longer wheelbase, wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto. Does the ALL NEW 2021 Kia K5 disappoint?

Shocked & kinda blown away, When they REALLY weren't popular or thought of (other than to laught at, insult or consider them junk cheap-o cars) the unheard of at the time warranty & price-point way back when, left me looking at... & ending up getting a 1999 Hyundai Tiburon. Manual & absolutely LOVED it. So much, that a couple yrs later & w/ intro of... traded it in for the new 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe. Loved that even more & never ha any issues w/ either. Lots of options, reliable, inexpensive, new & looked good.. they were both great cars for different reasons. This one above, wow. Agree w/ ya, would give either a shot & would be happy driving either. :) Stay safe & be well.

banstaman I run 18s on my car, I shop around for tires, 235/40/18. Most recent tires ran me $500 Canadian for Cooper Zeon tires. My previous were Pirelli PZeros Y-rated tires. I got for $700 Canadian. I have never paid more for tires.

Yes it is at dealerships and i am very disappointed. It makes me appreciate the 3rd and 4th generation Optima. The K5 is a disappointment. They always say pictures can be deceiving, which is a true statement with the K5. It is really missing that WOW turn heads factor in it. They have cut a lot of exterior cost of the vehicle. I recently saw the EX version and it doesn't compare to the 20 Optima Ex version at all. It has no expose tips, turn signal indicators on the mirror, no fog lights, lacking reasonable amount of chrome finish, and the fuel door is now push no button.....smh. Hopefully, the GT version will be nicely equipped. I let you decide for yourself and you tell me what you think.

@@keliarose6942 It was the GT-Line version you've test drove.The GT version hasn't hit showrooms yet. I would like to see expose exhaust tailpipes on all trims. In my opinion, that whats make a car sporty in the rear. It just missing a lot of exterior features that the 2020 Optima EX version offers. The overall design of the car is very well thought, but they do have a lot cost cutting areas within the car. Plus, i personally like a car with more chrome than the K5 debuts. Now see chrome is eye catching.

@@ronf7388 The dealership in my town has a GT. With tail pipes that work and aren't for show. I was gonna do trade up til I realized it's just the same as my 2020 but with turbo and the last thing my lead foot needs is turbo anything. 😂 And I do agree it needs more chrome exterior but those changing colors on the interior kinda makes up for it. And that feature almost had me...almost. Who wouldn't like already installed mood lights that go with the beat? 😆

Man, I absolutely love Hyundai / Kia / Genesis. I've owned 2 Kia's and a Hyundai all from 2006+ and genuinely enjoyed every single one of them. My last daily was a 2009 Spectra5 SX and even being a decade old it was great. Sport tuned suspension handled like a champ. It unfortunately recently had issues that didn't make sense fixing investment wise so I ended up getting an MK7 Jetta and although I love the Jetta the handling on the Kia was so much more dynamic and engaging. The Jetta is currently getting it's yearly ceramic coating / rustproof done and the dealer lent me a 2020 Optima LXS and it's great for the price. Just such a great deal. Once I'm done with the loan on the Jetta my next car will definently be another H / K / G. I was gonna go with a Forte GT but there were no GT2 package examples and I needed a car quick.

Short answer, No. I absolutely love this redesign!!! They hot a lot of great points with the redesign here and look....hydraulic struts!!!! On a base trim...Kia!!! Bruh... they out here showing up all other companies that stay doing prop rods!!! That interior is fire!!! Wish we got a few more of the Korea spec goodies though🤨🤨🤨 but overall great package!!! No CVT!!! Driiiive moooodes??!!! AWD optional!!! And look at that truuuunk!!! Kinda feel like it should've been made a lift back though, especially with that tasteful chrome trim🤨🤨🧐🤔🤔🤔Maaaaaaaaan.... I like both this and the Sonata. Other than this is named K5. I was surprised by how many people didnt like the Sonata. I'm in love with its chrome line that goes into the headlights. I have always been very impressed with Kia’s design, quality and craftsmanship, especially on their most recent cars. I was waiting for the 2021 Optima “K5,” but I had to trade in my VW Passat right away. I got a Honda Accord and it has also exceeded my expectations. I’m still getting used to CVT though. It definitely has tons of power and torque. My zonk is the 16” wheels on the K5 entry levels.
