Great quote from Rich Williams on this video, "Now I understand the wonder of what I get to do every night." That is a fantastic attitude and I am going to hold onto it as I finally age into my gratitude for a life well lived. Bravo, my friend.

Seen Kansas many time - my all time favorite though was at the Catholic Church carnival in St. Augustine on a hot saturday afternoon. The band came out and started crankin' a kick ass version of Fight Fire with Fire. A minute in, the stage went silent, Steve Walsh was instantly frustrated because the electric breaker tripped. Road crew couldn't figure it out. Finally, about 45 minutes later, they ran one of those huge carnival electric cables from the Tilt-a-Whirl and got the show back up. Unforgettable. Rich stayed after to talk with fans - I've got photos with all the band.

Hey wait, I’m one of those retired old fart bag accountants. Lol, love the music. Keep it going. I can’t play golf worth shit anyway so I might as well see some shows. The band sounds great these days and I appreciate the new music. Life long Kansas fan and I admire your tenacity to keep going despite all the changes in personnel. I hope to see a show very soon.

The best part of seeing kansas for the first time was at ghramcentral station in glendale az was shaking Richard's hand after the show I was a younger then it was a early birthday present ftom my dad the show was general admission I made it to the front row behind the PA speakers so it was not too loud but getting to shake one of my favorite guitarist hand and Steve walshes hands were the best part of the concert thank you Richard for taking the time to shake my hand sir

I've been watching some old Kansas clips and concerts on youtube. Such a great band and its that persistence that most impresses me. They kept on going despite the trends. Didn't stop and are still going and playing better than ever. And I love the gratitude that emanates from Rich as he talks about this long career. He must also get a sense of being a real stalwart. So many of the flashier players in the band have come and gone and yet he is still there and just getting better and better. Same with Phil. Thanks for this interview Jon!

As a 40 year plus fan of Kansas it pleases me to hear they've decided there's music to be made, and touring to do still, no retirement date in mind. I realize Steve Walsh has stepped away from the band, and Kerry & Dave have their own things going on, but it pretty darn special when they take time to come out & set in with the band & play a song or two occasionally.

Rich you live in Mts of NC. Where some good old boys play guitar and banjo and fiddle. Bet that would be fun to play a Kansas tune with them. Bluegrass Kansas. Call up Phil and say listen to this.

strange... Not being known at all, I ask myself as others have asked; when is the end? When do you stop making music... ? And I remember 7 or 8 months before my dad died and I asked if he would play the piano and he said that he really didnt want to and after talking for a while he admitted that he never really enjoyed playing the piano and he only did it to accompany his singing... When he was young... back in 1936, he was offered a scholarship to Julliard... in either voice or piano..... and he turned it down because his twin brother was sick and he couldnt bear to be away from his twin.... Dad.... couldnt sing like he used to... and so he really had no use for the piano any longer... Of course we didnt realize we wouldnmt have him much longer.... So.... I wont stop until I find no enjoyment any longer.... I am 66 years old and my brother and I are talking about figuring out some way top play live again somewhere..

Having the maturity to continue the practice, the writing, keeping things tight, is not a given. Sadly some from the 70's and 80's think they can rest on their laurels, which ends up being a mediocre at best show. Respecting the fans by delivering is a hallmark of a great band.

As far as I was concerned, Kansas🤩 should have retired when Walsh🤩 left the 2nd time. What they could have done was get John Elefonte back for another album/recording 🤔!! The singer they replaced Walsh with was a lousy singer, still is !!👎. RIP Kansas!!
