I've been using the CLEAR2O ADVANCED WATER FILTRATION PITCHER - CWS100 for years. It uses solid carbon filtration which prevents channeling. What makes the Clear2O unique is that it attaches directly to the faucet tap and fills the pitcher with water in seconds, which is convenient, but I can't tell whether or not the filter has a chance to work appropriately. Brian comes through again, delivering this video as promised. Very interesting finding, re: cobalt. My only wish was that your pre-filtration control sample had more contaminants so we could really put this filter through its paces and see if it really delivers as promised! I very much like my Clearly Filtered pitcher's performance, though the physical pitcher itself leaves a little to be desired. I don't like the flow of water through the pour spout. I find it to be too wide a stream of water and prone to splashing and making a mess. I also don't care for how half of the lid needs removed in order to fill the reservoir. I'd prefer a flip open lid with a hinge. Otherwise though, I think it's a good pitcher filter, and I haven't any regrets about switching to Clearly Filtered after Pur dropped lead removal from their filters. Thanks, Brian, good stuff here.
@waterfilterguru8 ай бұрын
Since our testing projects aim to put systems through real-life testing, we unfortunately don't have control over the contaminants present in the unfiltered sample at the time of testing. I had hope for the same, especially since the source used for this project had lead detected previously. Anyway I appreciate your comment, feedback and input! Thank you!

Thanks for these videos. In many ways this seems like the best pitcher. I'm a little concerned about the added levels of cobalt, though. Amongst some of the other contaminants that Modern Castle found in their test. I'm just curious if you've seen their results and had any thoughts about why it performed worse? Also given your background, what are your thoughts on why cobalt and others are being added? Is it coming from the filter itself, or does it have anything to do with ratios changing within the amount of water. More cobalt per ml based on the fact that it's not filtering any cobalt out? I'd appreciate any thoughts you have on this.Thanks!
@waterfilterguru4 ай бұрын
My hypothesis is that the cobalt is coming from the filter media itself. But with limited, real-life testing, it's hard to say for sure. We'd need multiple rounds of experiments to validate this. There was no cobalt detected in the unfiltered raw water, which is why I hypothesize it came from the filter

@waterfilterguru7 ай бұрын
The Clearly Filtered pitcher does hold a few certifications now, actually. Its certified by the WQA to: NSF/ANSI 42 (chlorine, taste and odor) find.wqa.org/find-products/ctl/detail/mid/1054/cid/clearly_filtered_inc/sid/1 NSF/ANSI 53 (for PFOA & PFOS) find.wqa.org/find-products/ctl/detail/mid/1054/cid/clearly_filtered_inc/sid/3? NSF/ANSI 372 (materials safety) find.wqa.org/find-products/ctl/detail/mid/1054/cid/clearly_filtered_inc/sid/29 That said, I'd love to see them obtain more performance certifications for additional contaminants they claim to reduce. Our testing is conducted in real-world conditions, so there is no way every single contaminant a company claims to reduce will be present in our water we use for testing. We do not intentionally add contaminants for the sake of testing, but rather test products as a regular user would use them at home. I hope this helps, please let me know if you have any other questions.

Just received mine in the mail. I'm happy the filter is so effective at removing contaminants, I will say, the actually pitcher is poorly made. The plastic is thin and bends easily and the lid doesn't fit well and has sharp edges. The plastic release door was broken and finally the priming bag disc doesn't fit snuggly on the filter so when I squeeze the bag to prime the filter, it separates and water shoots out the side. For a product whose pitcher is the most expensive on the market, they blew it.

Hey thanks for sharing. Have you had any experience with any other water filter pitchers? The CF is actually one of the most sturdy I've tested, along with the LARQ. All the others were much more thin and flimsy.

I agree and I will add that after a light use of 2 weeks, the filter quality downgraded significantly

In Australia they call 1.1 ppm Fluoride "healthy". These people are insane.
@waterfilterguru6 ай бұрын
Proponents of community water fluoridation tout its public health and economic benefits for dental hygiene. But there are risks of long term consumption of elevated levels of fluoride, including potential neurological problems. Research is still ongoing.

Has anyone else had any issues with your Clearly Filtered filter slowing down to a single drip, even after repeated priming?
@dcheard27 ай бұрын
I've been using it for 1.5 years.. never had that issue. I live in Texas.. maybe it has something to do with the water?

Yep, this indicates the filter is nearing capacity and it's about time to replace it. Quality of the water being filtered will have a direct impact

Yes. They tried to blame it on my pitcher and recommended a 90 dollar new 1. They wouldn't even begin to investigate my claim until I submitted a video. Horrible experience. Run. Run as fast as you can

@waterfilterguru not true. Happened to me with a brand new 1

@@6Toe Funny you replied to this today. I finally used the replacement filter that I had to haggle with them over for weeks. It started clogging again today after less than 2 months. I think it would be cheaper to drink spring water from mountain top glaciers in France packaged in glass bottles and shipped to USA by airplane than to get on their filter replacement program

The performance data sheet claims >99.92% of Estrone, but these contaminants were not detected in our water during testing, so we do not have any firsthand data on this.

Yes but what are the water filters that actually leave the good stuff in there? Nobody wants stripped down water they want water like it was made to be given by God Do we know what that looks like? If we were to take good water out of a deep well?

Untreated well water can contain some of the most dangerous, naturally occurring contaminants like pathogens, arsenic and uranium

@@waterfilterguru I've lived on a homestead where we had a very deep well and the water was amazing nothing was treated The ground and the creation that God gave us treats it. First off I want to say I have a well because I live in the country, so I was thinking about buying one of these pitchers to make my coffee and tea with filtered water thinking it would improve the taste. But if using one of these pitchers adds impurities too your water what's the point of using one then??? @waterfilterguru
@waterfilterguru5 ай бұрын
Please keep in mind, as is mentioned in the video, this was just one test and the results are neither comprehensive nor conclusive. We plan to re-test in the future to see if we get similar results. Additionally, especially since you are on well water, it's highly recommended to test your water before purchasing any treatment equipment. Depending on the contaminants present, a pitcher may or may not be sufficient.
