You know the best water I ever had was meltwater from the rockies that came down the canal of my friend's family property. Unfiltered, live (bacteria) water, with all the minerals. It tasted so damn good, cold as cold could be especially on a hot Colorado day. I lapped that stuff up like a happy puppy. That fresh mountain air, the water, the whole valley full of organic food and free range and hunted meat, eggs....all that sun light. I musta lost 40 pounds in 4 months.

He didn't answer your questions so I'll answer. I eat whenever I'm hungry which is basically two meals a day between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. I will drink a couple of cups of coffee in the morning with heavy cream. Then I eat my first meal sometime between 10 a.m. and noon. I eat my second meal sometime between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. I primarily eat beef but I eat other animal products such as pork lamb chicken turkey eggs and butter and cheese. I do eat nuts although some carnivores don't. I like almonds cashews walnuts pistachios and peanuts but if they are roasted I make sure that there was no vegetable or seed oil used in that process. The key is to omit carbohydrates and sugars including fruit. Read the labels on everything that you buy because they put sugar in so many foods including your peanut butter so buy the natural peanut butter. The meat fully satisfies you for many hours so you don't feel hungry again until your second meal or until your first meal the next day. Eat until you're comfortably full. After doing this for a few months all excess body fat burned off of my body. Now I can see my abdominal muscles which I haven't seen in decades. I don't understand how this works because it seems that if I'm eating red meat with saturated fats that I would get fatter but the opposite happened to me. I'm not going to argue with it because the results told me that it works on me. I listened to these people on KZbin and then I did the experiment on myself and it worked. I don't have to believe what anybody else says because I just try it and see if it works. I don't believe anybody but myself.

Thank you! As a chemistry teacher, this is a topic that causes a lot of confusion to students. The concepts (and the difference between) concentration and pH of acid or base are used interchangeably and incorrectly in society. Thank you again for the scientific/common sense approach to all of your topics!
@OnlyTruthLove
@OnlyTruthLove Жыл бұрын
the whole stomach ph argument is just not accurate. Yes your stomach acids are extremely low in ph, but that does not mean that it doesn't matter what ph you keep putting into your body. See, your stomach has to create that very low ph in your stomach, and to create that very low ph, it changes your overall body ph. There have been plenty of tests showing that an over consumption of acidic (low ph) foods have negative impacts on the body. High ph water requires your body to produce more acid to neutralize the high ph, and so that in turn decreases your overall body acidity. Yes the water and food ph is neutralized, but because they are neutralized, your body had to reduce its overall acidity to do so. This is something that most people and by most I mean 99.9% get wrong. PH absolutely does matter. Just because your stomach acids neutralize it, does not mean it has no effect on your overall body ph. Hope someone found this info useful. I personally drink filtered ionized water with a ph of 9.0, to counter all the acidic food I consume. (most food is overly acidic).

@XxchristianxX17 please provide a peer reviewed paper stating that what I said is literal bs. Is this how you talk to everyone? We don't think that way, and we don't communicate in this way. Just because there isn't a research paper on some specific thing, does not mean something isn't true. There is common practice, and that was the guiding factor for the majority of human history. Most research papers are funded by for profit organizations and are biased. Who will spend millions of dollars researching something that doesn't make money when they can spend that money to research something that does make money. You have too much confidence in this "research". Hope you didn't get the 5 boosters.

Thank You... For taking the time to put this very important information out there. I have been an Exercise Therapist and Holistic Nutritionist for nearly 30 years, and I still find it quite sad how many people have practically no interest in their true health, and then constantly complain about 'getting old' and having all kinds of pains and ailments. So many people will join a gym and start doing a little bit of exercise, which is definitely a good start, but they will not get serious about their food and water intake. And even more people have no understanding of the value of quality massage therapy and proper stretching, as well as very simple meditation practices. I do my best, one client at time, to help educate those who are willing to listen. And it's very satisfying when I get a client who actually listens and continues to ask questions. Good luck to all of you looking to improve your health.

My wife and I only drink water, nothing else. We also eat very clean organic foods & workout 3-4 times a week. We installed a reverse osmosis filter and after 2 months we both ended up barely being able to function. We were constantly fatigued, feeling depressed, and lethargic. We had no idea what was happening. We dissected our entire lifestyle trying to figure it out. About month 4 we realized that the only thing we changed was to ro water. We immediately switched to spring water and came back to life after a few days. My point is, for most, ro is never a problem. However, for those who drink only water and nothing else (no coffee no juice no caffeine etc), this can be a very very real problem. Previous to my own experience I would have agreed with you and said it’s all in their heads. Not the case for some. Hope this helps. Thank you

Glacier is probably as good a source as any but don't trust a product name. know the source. Glacier as a brand means nothing. Fluoride is often misunderstood. Swallowing fluoride does not help teeth, bones or the body in any way. To help the teeth, fluoride must be applied to the outside of the teeth (topical). Swallowing fluoride is not good for people which is why we're told not to swallow toothpaste & mouthwash, and why you can't buy fluoride supplements. It's wild that they put fluoride into drinking water, but it's not concentrated enough to help teeth, plus how often do you hold the water in your mouth prior to Swallowing. We normally just drink it,so very little teeth contact. Yet a who knows what a lifetime of drinking low levels of Fluoride will do. It slow thyroid function, so I've gotta wonder if it's shy so many people are on thyroid medicine now.

@katrinalinder978 3 жыл бұрын
Since you’d likely be sweating out a significant amount of your electrolytes while working in the sun, your body will require a higher concentration of minerals/same electrolytes lost while sweating to rehydrate. It’s likely that distilled water does not contain enough minerals/electrolytes to hydrate you properly when compared to “normal water” such as municipal water. There is even more of a difference when comparing tap/municipal water to mineral water which contains increased amounts of the same electrolytes lost during sweating. As a result, consuming distilled water following sweating leaves you fatigued and nauseous because you are still dehydrated. Mineral water cures this feeling due to its proper offering of electrolytes. Hope this helps!

@@Jennifurdawn You might not be getting enough water soluble minerals in your diet. Doctors can do blood tests to determine that. Most get enough from their diet but it can also indicate other health problems do please see a doctor and have him test you. Low sodium or low potassium in your blood serum can be a serious issue. Also other ones as well. As a group we have been so sodium conscious for the last few decades that low levels of these minerals can be as bad as high levels anymore.
@markpashia7067
@markpashia7067 3 жыл бұрын
@@katrinalinder978 exactly. It is not the water that is the issue, but that you also need to replace the electrolytes as well. Back in they day we had "salt tablets" next to the water jug for that reason. They were really mineral tablets with sodium, magnesium and others. They stopped that due to most folks having too high a level of those minerals in their diet, but if you eat "heathy" today you have the right amount instead of the excess we had back then. Remember the folks who put half a salt shaker on one order of french fries??? We do not do that anymore so in high sweat situations you must supplement the water soluble minerals as well. Mineral water likely helps but might still be insufficient. Consult a doctor or pharmacist. Gatorade will also help but has other issues so I do not do that.

A side note about fluoride - I was diagnosed with perioral dermatitis. The only helpful advice I got from the dermatologist was use fluoride-free toothpaste. That was about 7/8 yrs ago. I don’t think it was fluoride alone causing it. I think the fluoride aggravated it. My whole immune system must’ve been overloaded, due to many issues while consuming the SAD. I still do not use flourish toothpaste on a daily basis. Over these last 7 yrs, every once in a while I would use regular toothpaste and the dermatitis would come back. Interestingly enough, in the last 6 months, I’ve gone low carb, very low grains (I’m working on eliminating) and even after a few days of fluoride toothpaste the dermatitis hasn’t come back!

Last I checked no one was required to test for Round Up (Glyphosphate?) and some do not require testing for arsenic. Just a thought. No testing for most agriculture or industrial chemicals either. City tap water and well water is not generally tested for pharmaceuticals either. Happy dose of Prozac with your water? Or a nice shot of estrogen? Any and all of it can end up in the main water table of a deep well too. Sad but true. We must start demanding more at that state level who controls the testing.

Hello Dr. Berry! I found your video about "The Dangers and Benefits of Alkaline Water" very interesting and educational. One thing I try to do is take care of my health. I have Epilepsy Seizures which was hereditary from my father's side of the family in which I have both petit mal and grand mal seizures. Also, I have stomach ulcer, acid reflux, and high triglycerides. I take prescription medications for all of these specific conditions. I used to work in a warehouse and ended up having a seizure on the job. My previous neurologist/epileptologist mentioned to me that I was drinking the wrong type of water. This is what was offered at my old job at the time in the warehouse. They either would provide the brands of Dasani, Aquafina, and/or Crystal Geyser. I lived in a different state at the time when my seizure occurred. He told me that a person with Epilepsy Seizures is supposed to drink Alkaline Water or PH balanced water. I moved to a different state back in 2022 and currently do a remote job sitting down as an ESL Teacher and Academic Tutor. I do walk everywhere by exercising just to let you know. I was informed by a medical professional the following things: "Alkaline Water can raise your blood pressure due to it having sodium in it." Some questions I have for you are as follows: Is it true that Alkaline Water has sodium in it? Is it true that Alkaline Water can raise your blood pressure? What do you think is the best type of water for me to drink due to my health condition? The only reason I switched to drinking alkaline water was so that way my seizures would stay under control, have enough electrolytes in my body, and I would stay hydrated. Many times when I have drunk Drinking Water, Purified Drinking Water, or Mountain Spring Water this hasn't kept me hydrated enough. All the seizures I have had previously were mostly because of either me already being dehydrated, having dehydration beforehand, or due to stress. What are your suggestions and recommendations?

Brita doesn't do much more than add charcoal to disguise the chlorine smell. It can remove some metals, but the inside of most plumbing is caked in sediment. When you boil water without distilling the boiled water, you're changing the chemical composition of chemicals that haven't been removed from the tap water. So it can potentially be worse than not boiling at all.

I almost went blind from a sudden eye ulcerating condition after drinking distilled water solely for 30+ days straight. I also found out soda pop machines use distilled water. Making me question the connection to diabetes and vision loss. What I've come to conclude is that water needs some mineral content as we drink it. It took me a lot of time to remineralize and realkalize my body by personal(albeit subjective) experience, after this event. One day I used canning salt in water to "turn myself back on" from an unusual level of sleepiness like a light bulb. Alkaline water also did notably help ease my pain, especially my eye pain, the more I consumed it over time. I felt extremely light while drinking the distilled water in particular too, and just after a few days. Something had reduced my overall weighted feeling, not sure if it was from demineralization, but I just can't think of anything else that that level of weightlessness could've been from, aside from some amount of weighted mass(minerals?) being leached at an unusual rate. I at least am personally definitively decided against distilled water for my personal consumption since this experience. Maybe my experience was unique, but I'm not going to be taking any further chances. Distilled water tastes awful anyway, there was nothing thirst quenching about it, so I now consider the taste as playing a part in the actual quality of the water.

Wouldn't a well rounded diet with fruits and vegetables easily replenish your body's mineral content? How do you know if it wasn't just your diet being too low in sodium and essential minerals?
@Gio-sx7kt
@Gio-sx7kt Жыл бұрын
@@MichaelMerritt I was a health nut. I was eating all kinds of fruits, veggies, mineral dense seaweed products, superfoods. The only thing different in my diet was experimenting with the distilled water and having been on it for about a solid month. Now though I'm starting to wonder if there was also an Oxalate connection, and it I maybe had eaten too many of the wrong fruits and veggies. Too high of Oxalates in the diet can apparently wipe out ones dietary mineral levels. Also think there may have been an extra smart meter installation in our house at the time as we got Solar panels put in maybe around that time. I've heard high oxalates in the system can also make someone more sensitive to wireless radiation. Wireless radiation also increases blood sugar, as does high oxalates. So I think that maybe it was a concert of things. Drinking alkaline water did help ease the inflammation in my eye condition, but also since then I've found that going Keto Carnivore for a week was the only thing that seems to diet wise, appear to, effectively reverse the condition. And this was based on my opthamologists observations of my eyes. The week I went Keto Carnivore he was thorough impressed that the blood veins in my eyes had reduced to single file blood cell flow, and he said to keep doing whatever I was doing! The next week I went back to some carbs and it got worse again. I wasn't aware of an Oxalate connection, but after learning more about oxalates I'm realizing that was the lowest oxalate diet that I have ever tried with success. Oxalates are supposedly very damaging to the eyes, and I was doing a lot of things high in them like almonds, cashews, various leafy green mixes with spinach and chard. miso, chocolate, potatoes, sweet potatoes. I think that my body has been above it's oxalate load capacity and that is what may have contribute to my blood sugar, and then the the acidity of distilled water over an extended period just took me more quickly over that edge. If my body was low in oxalates maybe I could've handled it. But I've now come to conclude that the veggies and "superfoods" were also actually part of my mistake. Following with my eye symptoms there does seem a connection with flare ups and things like chocolate consumption for example. I can handle cacao butter without issue, but I feel oddly sensitive to Cocao, darker chocolates and even ilk chocolates, I had been limiting them instinctively off and on, but now I realize that is a high oxalate food, so this appear to maybe an actual key to reversing it, perhaps even better then just shooting in the dark. I can actually sort which veggies and other foods to eat any may even correct my myopia. I've felt close before, but not understanding what was actually going on was holding me back a lot. Curing my myopia would be an extra bonus, because I haven't been allowed to wear my glasses or contacts since contracting this inflammatory eye condition. Would be fantastic if this works and to cure two birds with one stone!

Thank you Dr. Berry for dispelling myths generated by " experts". What we put in our bodies can have a profound effect but we must get smart and real from whom/where we get our information! Thank heaven for the internet and caring people like you! It took me TEN miserable years and much of my own research, to find out I am gluten sensitive! Gluten free diet was considered a fad back in the early 2000s! My symptoms were treated but never the cause! Not one Dr. I went to ever asked me about what I was eating. But in all fairness I didnt make the connection either until I had to go to ER the symptoms got so severe. Three bites of high gluten pizza crust put me in the hospital! The gut wrenching pain is indescribable, the n/v is incapicating, the headaches excruciating, etc, etc. The effects of gluten sensitivity are so numerous I won't even list them all here. The culprit is inflammation throughout the body caused by gluten ingestion. When an opthamologist diagnosed Tallosa Hunt Syndrome ( inflammation of cranial nerve 6 and 4, eye movement control nerves ) It started me on the research road to wellness and a gluten free diet, and now keto diet for weight control. I proved to myself gluten is the culprit by elimination and reintroduction diet control. A gluten free diet can be very carb dense and one tends to gain weight! I'm 81 years and most days I feel better than I did when I was 61 years! Told my Dr. I need a health advocate not a " boss" and he respects my health efforts and also believes me when I tell him what gluten does to my body! And I'm down to just one med for my persistent high blood pressure. Sorry about length of this post. Gluten sensitivity is NOT a myth or a fad, it is very real.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! You're the first doctor that has said this. You just confirmed something that I've been saying for years - chlorine and fluoride in tap water can block absorption of iodine; also bromine (preservative in grain products). Just look at a periodic table. We couldn't put an reverse osmosis system in our house - cost and family trust stuff. So, what I do is to put tap water into my 1 gallon glass jars, add cilantro, basil or parsley, cover with a cloth, and let sit overnight. When I get up in the morning, I remove the plant matter and put it into compost can (it absorbed the fluoride) and stir to break up any bubbles on the side of the jars (chlorine gas is unstable and will evaporate out of water after a few hours, some may form bubbles on the side of glass or jar). Put the lids on and use them for cooking and drinking (1 goes into the fridge). Easy peasy. Thanks for all of your hard work researching and making the videos that share this much needed info.

I'm the only one in my friend group that hasnt been on any medications of any kind. Last time I got sick was back mid-2000's (with the common flu). I havent used any fluoride product at all since I was 22, and I still have all my teeth and I havent had any cavities or dental issues at all in more than 20 years. In fact when I was young whenever I used more toothpaste (with fluoride) I would get more and more cavities and it always got worse.

Hi Dr. Berry, this video is 4 yrs old , so I was wondering if you still have the same filtration system now in 2023 or if others have come out that you like better since then. Also, what do you think of pitcher filters? Thank you!

We have hard water here, it has chlorine but no flouride, hopefully never does. We've used a Brita filter for ages, it's also stopped the scum on our tea & coffee, tastes so much better too. It also saves your Kettle & Clothes Iron from all the limescale buildups & thus it's lifespan. Thanks so much for sharing this important information. Take care, & Happy Easter Sunday to you, yours, & everybody here. 🥚🐣🐥❤🙂🐶

I saw a research that in Singapore the tap water had less bacteria (both good and bad) than filtered water in homes because of bacteria growth in the filters, even changing cartridges at the recommended intervals didn't do much if bacteria had already grown in them. I buy bottled water and plan to switch to a filter system but I worry I might add a potentcial source of contamination with a filter system.

I've heard of something called "living water"... What I know is this: What is meant by "living water" is to drink water from a stream, river or spring. "dead water" means stagnant water in a bottle or carboy. I developed a simple method : I take two empty bottles. I fill one of the bottles with water. Then I transfer the water from the bottle to the empty bottle. I fill the water by pouring it from high to the other bottle. I repeat this water filling and draining process at least five times. So I turn water into "living water". I drink this water I get right away. Here is the result I noticed: Well-functioning kidneys and well-functioning intestines. I could be wrong.I'm just reasoning. I wouldn't be able to write these without google translate.

@@someguy43210 I've been continuously using my Berkey for going on 5 years and have changed my filter once. You do need to clean them every so often, with a soft bristle brush under running water. I pre-filter my rain water through a sediment filter before putting it in the Berkey, that helps a lot.

Good information, but I believe buying a distiller is a better choice because for every gallon of pure water produced by a reverse osmosis system, three or four gallons of water are wasted down the drain. We have drank nothing but distilled for over five years and have not noticed any ill effects.

18 years ago every morning I had pain and stiffness in all my joints and it would diminish later in the day. A friend gave me the name of a documentary about drinking water and what they were saying is that humans for thousands of years would drink surface water that is at a very high percentage distilled water from the rain accumulated in potholes little streams etc then we started drinking water from deep wells the past 100 years or more and it was from that water is excess of certain minerals that can accumulate on your joints I switched to distilled water and within just couples of months it did improved by at least 80% and since I have been drinking distilled water and have a water distiller (Pure Water)

Thanks for cutting through the BS surrounding drinking water. As an industrial chemist specializing in H2O quality, I fully concur with your arguments. Only one addendum, while RODI water is great, I also add a *deionizing resin (DI RESIN)* cartridge to my system to purify it even further. My marine tank fish and corals LOVE it! (They would die if I gave them tap water).

Thanks for sharing your tip. We moved to the Coachella Valley area in southern California and the tap water here is terrible. It's very hard with so much calcium. It makes polished chrome and shower glass doors a cloudy milky white over time. I want to eventually set up an aquarium again so in addition to filtering my water I'm going to borrow your DI resin tip. ;-)

Distilled Pure Water will not conduct electricity when only 2 parts inorganic minerals or less are present. Water with 5 parts inorganic content per million parts water (or more) will conduct electricity, completing a simple circuit and lighting a tester bulb! The higher the inorganic content is in a per million count, the less effectively water transmits organic minerals to tissue sites. Bottled water, tapwater, reverse-osmosis filtered water, and carbon-block filtered water (when tested) will conduct electricity, substantiating that each one is not the best carrier for the mineral-transport and mineral-absorption (Muehling 1994). Our tapwater in the USA has been shown to contain 19 "inorganic metals of concern"(1994 Safe Water Drinking Act), for which maximum contaminant levels have been set. (Tone 1994) Most American tapwater tested falls between the ranges of 350 parts per million to over 1000 parts per million total contaminants! (Colgan 1993)
