okoro’s development is a huge x factor for the cavs that will determine how high their ceiling really is. the 3 point shooting post all star was a very good sign, as well as his great free throw shooting from january to march. hit over 80% every month, peaking at 89.2% in march. of course his shooting completely tanked in april, but his trainer says they’ve been shooting like crazy this off season, so hopefully he’s more consistent
@Neoctix2 жыл бұрын
If he develops to a consistent 3 and D wing like Dorian-Finney Smith of the Mavs, then they have a great glue guy who can knock down catch and shoot on a relatively high clip and a good perimeter and team defender.

Okoro and Mobley are about to take big leaps this year
@jojetparedes40242 жыл бұрын
Cavs took Okoro for his defensive skills, so yeah, they don't need him to shot a lot. He's really good at chasing down perimeter threats and getting them to commit to the inside area where Allen and Mobley can handle the rest. You're right though that he just have to make his shots whenever he is given the opportunity. As for Spida and Garland, they both play well with primary ball handlers (Conley and Rubio/Rondo) so they're good. Cavs might need 1 or 2 seasons to fine tune their system and they're gonna be a perennial threat after that.. Again, nice video and a straightforward analysis just the way I like it..

Excellent video as always! You are on a whole different level when it comes to the NBA community. If the Cavs are able to have a healthy season, I truly believe they can have a deep playoff run. The east is going to be very exciting. Boston and Philly got better, Milwaukee has Middleton back, when things click Brooklyn or Atlanta could be dangerous and then there are still Toronto, Miami and Chicago. I wouldnt be surprised if Cleveland does not finish in the top 4 as they integrate Mitchell but also learn to adjust to having a target on their back (that was missing last year).
@andrewholm492 жыл бұрын
I’m not overly worried about the defensive side of the ball, their defensive approach was to run players off the perimeter and funnel them to the basket. Lauri was pretty important as he had the size on the perimeter. It’ll be interesting to see what adjustments they make to cover for that lack of size on the perimeter
@henrybiggs31132 жыл бұрын
He had the size, but he didn't have the speed on the perimeter... His strengths was hands & passing lanes & being lengthy against perimeters players near the basket... He'll be missed, but it wont affect the offense or defense in any way... He didn't excell in any one great thing... He was a well rounded role player... Can hit 3's, finish @ the rim, gets blocks within his reach... The Bulls tried to make him a main contributor... That's not his style of play... The Cavs opened eyes on how to use Lauri... But do the teams have the cast the Cavs had around him...💯💯💯

@@samn90834 / Have you seen Lauri in the NBA...🤔🤔🤔 Same player, different leagues... I know Lauri's capabilities... Saw them firsthand all last season... He gave Cavs an awkward lineup that worked positively... He was only a major cog because of his length... He wasn't a primary scorer nor a go to option for a bucket... & his defense came in handy by getting steals, rebounding over smaller forwards, & blocking shots near the rim... He wasn't league average in any area... Was actually slow footed for the small forward position... But it didn't stand out or matter because he got Allen & Mobley behind him if he got beat, just like the guards do...💯💯💯 Last year, all the fans were claiming the Cavs were overpaying for a bum... Lauri proved that he is an well rounded player good @ many things, but not great @ anything... As long as he's not the first or second option, he'll add pluses to the plus/minus stats... The Cavs roster & style of play allowed Lauri to be competent... If teams that got & get him in the future don't use him like the Cavs did, they'll get the Bull's Lauri...💯💯💯
@samn908342 жыл бұрын
@@henrybiggs3113 Bulls Lauri was a very very good player in his second year and showed unicorn potential, but the awful coaching he then had to deal with wasted him. I’m not saying he’s gonna be a superstar but especially after Eurobasket he deserves another shot as a scoring threat

@@samn90834 / Okay then... You don't need to keep calling me out just to explain that... I never denied Lauri not having a good season in Chicago... I only stated what he brought to the Cavs, & why he was expendable... But you've added another great point, coaching staff... & the Cavs added Luke Walton this off-season... I want to say that would've been huge for Lauri, but it's a huge addition for the team period...💯💯💯

People worried about Garland and Mitchell with only 1 ball, remember this: Garland was at his best when Rubio had the ball last year. They thrived together. The only question is can Mitchell be a strong playmaker - not even a Rubio level playmaker, just an above average one.

Okoro is a misfit. He doesn't play well at the 3 spot because he doesn't rebound well and also doesn't have the length to deal with the superstar starting wings. Okoro's best skill is his point of attack defense and that skill is redundant in the starting lineup because he will not be guarding the backcourt. And to add to all of that, Cavs will also have issues with extending him...because he won't be worth it for them whether he makes a "leap" or not. They may as well hope Windler makes the leap or Caris balls out.

Despite both those he was still ballin, hopefully he can get on a team to be that second shot creator and ball handler because he’s so much more than a simple passing mention in this video.
