It so often feels like Tatum’s controller gets disconnected… like what is he doing watching Buddy get wide open??
@rory469014 күн бұрын
tf you mean often, name another time this year
@king_kunta_014 күн бұрын
Tatum was hedging the drive and a Steph curry stepback. He hoped that by forcing Steph left, Jrue would be able to stop any lay-up that Steph would make inside. Assuming Steph gets through, JT can start helping off and shoot the passing lane if ever. If Steph steps back, Jrue would be following him, making a stepback 3 harder, and JT can cut off the driving lane for a 2v1 wherein Steph's passing lane to Buddy would be tight. Yes, it was on JT not being able to read the kickout, knowing Buddy was in the corner, and he just got passed by Steph on the drive. I think, however, that he thought Steph would do an otd 3 or stepback 3 and hyperfocused on it, since he'd rather give up a Buddy Hield cas 3 on a closeout than a Steph stepback 3

This game and season convinced me that steve kerr isn’t a terrible coach. Last year it felt like he was stuck in his ways trying to do the same thing he did in the championship years, but with older guys and less talent. Klay leaving seems to have shocked the system a bit.
@fobinc14 күн бұрын
He is, you gotta give Stotts and Stackhouse credit. Look at Kerr with Atkinson last year vs this year. Night and day (also in personnel, but his bad lineup decisions still linger). You wanna see signs of Kerr decision, the Cavs game starting 5, almost throwing 30 pts lead over Houston.

It seemed like when the warrior 'blitzed' with curry, there were trying to do a more aggrseive version of the show and recover defense that they have used to protect Curry from mismatch hunting in the past. I guess there not as worried about the center catching in the middle vs a guard. Tatum screening White was both a good counter to the blitz bc it would give the advatage to Tatum, and a good counter to the show and recover bc it makes it harder for curry to stay connected to white.

So what's the best way to defend the stack PNR? Do the handler and shooter's defenders switch and the roll man's defender sticks to him?
@AndyCromer-kl9jz13 күн бұрын
I feel like that would require so muchpefect communication, That play is tough to guard. The warriors whipped out a 3-1-1 zone for a couple plays to try and counter that stack 3 man action. you can see it at the 5:25 and 1:00 minute mark of the third quarter. I guess that way the 1-1 part of the zone up top and in the middle is the guards responsible for the shooter and ball handler and the midddle man of the 3 on the backline takes the roller
@DanielLi713 күн бұрын
It's honestly the most unstoppable action imo because there's so many variations you can run. Like Andy said, it really requires perfect communication. Usually some form of switching and coordinating who takes who can slow it down but many teams have a lot of trouble stopping it consistently.
