When my children had it, their lines got fainter each day untill they were negative which coinsided with when they were feeling back to normal. That tells me that its to do with how much viral load you have.

The question I have, is after the 15 minute wait time for results is done, showing T, but no C line, 6 hours later, there is a slight hint of a C line. Should I take a picture at 15 minutes, and then through the indicator out??; as otherwise useless.

I had a very mild case of Covid and at first the line was very strong. I tested each day starting at day 5 (when cdc says you can leave isolation with mask if you don’t have symptoms or they’re waning) and each day the line got fainter and fainter until around day 10 it stopped appearing. I needed a negative NAAT test for travel (not antigen) almost immediately after so I kept getting several rapid NAAT tests done after day 10 and I was testing positive until day 15. In this case, I took the faintness to mean the viral load was subsiding. If it were a one-off test and it was faint I don’t think I would have enough info to know whether that meant the virus was coming or going or user error.

I'm timing my tests, because I have nothing better to do. At day 4 I finally got a hold of antigen tests, and the line appeared within 10 seconds of the fourth droplet of that first test. At day 5 it was 30 seconds, day 6 it was 30 seconds, day 8 it was 40 seconds, day 9 50 deconds, day 10 70 seconds. I felt 100% normal on day 8. I'm coming out of islation today at day 10, masked up for the family. BTW, my symptoms were minimal, sore throat and runny nose for 3 days. Gotta say, if Delta did to someone's lungs what Omicron did to my throat, I cringe.

NAAT is more or less interchangeable in that they both can detect the RNA of the virus. NAAT yields results faster which is supposed to be better for your travel plans. Both tests can detect minute amounts of the virus which can F up your travel plans. From what I have read you probably were not contagious. They were working on a hypothesis that connects low levels of virus or viral particles with Long Covid. I don’t think anything definitive was established. If you feel well now you likely don’t have long Covid. I’m not an MD nor am I a virologist. I am good at analyzing data and forming statistical models which are only as good as the source data. I wish you good luck. Thank you for sharing the details of your case.

Does faintness mean that you are getting less virus?
@jmckendry84
@jmckendry84 2 жыл бұрын
@@azokafn4126 *maybe*, or even *probably*. Less virus means there's less virus to bond to the part of the test that gives you the red "T" line, so in theory that should give you a fainter line. However, there are too many other possibilities that would also give you a fainter red line...maybe you didn't take the sample properly, or its fainter because of variations in the manufacturing of the tests. Therefore a faint line isn't a guarantee that you have less virus in your body. The test is really meant to give a simple Yes/No result.

from what i know, when i first tested positive, i had pretty clear signs of having covid, when i tested that day, it was very faint and showed up slowly. Again, mid covid when i had mild symptoms, i tested and the line was bold and it showed up right away and you can see a very red line at the t. today i just tested and im feeling like i have absolutely no covid symptoms, and the line was super faint on t and it showed up between 15 minutes. I think that the faintness of a line tells how much covid you have in your body.

This is an Antigen test, right? I have O- blood type, which means no antigens in my blood. Okay. I've had only one symptom -- loss of taste and smell. The faint line continues to be faint. It's going on 7 days quarantined from all people/public life. How frustrating! I have many things to do! I wish I could talk to the LEAD IN RESEARCH OF THIS COVID 19 AND PEOPLE LIKE MYSELF. We very much probably allow some antigens around our nose or mouth so as to DETER it from getting near our blood. A sudden death could happen to me? What does anybody truly know? I'm willing to share my experience and knowledge that could correctly inform ... for others in my community. If only someone very intelligent knew. Thank you to anyone who has the great wisdom knowledge and can share it with me. For others, too.

Same here, I took a LFT test this morning when I got up, because my mam and my sister have COVID, I did one quickly before I was going to make breakfast and it showed a faint positive line, I was still a bit sceptical because I felt perfectly fine apart from having a slight headache, so a couple of hours later, I told my mom I feel fine and that I don't think I have COVID, so she told me to do another test, so I did another test and it was negative. From here I was relieved because I don't really like being ill, but my mom also accused me of faking the test even though I told her I felt fine and that I don't think I have COVID🤣. So why did this happen? From what I have read, false positives are rare, could it have been that surface tops are contaminated due to my mam and my sister having covid? Or I have COVID but the virus infection levels are really low?

Here is my experience with covid test. On a Thursday is was feeling a sore throat coming on and by Friday afternoon it was very sore. I came home on that Friday around 3 and did a home rapid test and the results show positive. I immediately when down to a community facility after testing at home and I got tested by a rapid test which came out NEGATIVE. The PCR test was sent out to the lab for results. Three days later on Monday I got my PCR results it said NEGATIVE … I WAS THE SO DAM CONFUSED OF WHAT TO BELIEVE! Here I am with the doctor declaring that I have COVID and prescribes that I take Paxlovid . I have 98.6 temp. 95 sp02 and a slight cough from time to time. Other that that I feel good. To me I think they have a long way to go in figuring this thing out completely.

I think those home rapid test kits can sometimes react with a false positive when you have respiratory symptoms from cold or allergies. It happened to me recently. While in France the weather was muggy hot and with lots of dry debris flying around on the dusty dirty streets of Paris and subways. In the hotel there was one night when we kept the airconditioned all night, I do not know how often they change the filters which have dust accumulated on them also because they blow positive pressure into the negative pressure of the human lungs forcing irritating particles into the respiratory airways. I came up with a severe sore throat. I took 4 rapid test kits with me and tested positive with faint pink lines. My 48-year-old Niece was traveling with me. (I'm 69 years old) initiated protective protocols from each other wearing masks even during the night because we were sharing a king-size bed. We are both completely vaccinated. I did not isolate at the hotel but wore masks to protect others, in Europe no one is wearing masks, I looked strange to them I guess. I tested again in 48, and it came out inconclusive, we were supposed to meet a friend in the Netherlands who does not believe in vaccinations. I tested again another 48 hrs after the second test following detailed instructions to obtain an accurate test, but it showed inconclusively. My sore throat was gone by then and the cough was only occasional, this time my Niece who was sleeping with me and who only took her mask during meals with no symptoms at all took the test and it was negative after being with me all the during the trip. the occasional lingering cough lasted for about 10 days which is the pattern for me when I get the occasional allergy seasonal symptoms, I usually never catch a common cold or flu, that is one of the reasons I do not turn the central heating at home. My Nice return to Mexico and never acquired any infection from me. Since I had those rapid tests on hand I tested myself. I took microbiology in College and I obtained an A plus. Of course, you cannot assume anything about the test when it comes to protecting yourself or others from COVID infection and you must follow the CDC guidelines, but it is my personal opinion that when you have an inflammation reaction of your immune system those rapid home test may show positive or inconclusive, but for the general public follow protective protocol and always do a PCR when available and stay in touch with your Doctor.

It would have been GREAT if you took the opportunity to point out that many tests, including the one you show in this video, require that upon negative result you repeat the test one or two days later, and AGAIN a third time a day or two after that, in order to determine with any significant accuracy that you are truly negative. Also, it is crucial to follow instructions on sample collection and test preparation -- follow to the letter. We have so many jobs requiring self -test and self-reporting. Half the folks don't care and either don't test or don't follow instructions. The other half don't want to lose wages so they LIE. People continue to DIE. Die or get debilitated by Long COVID. Less people than originally, but what does that matter? They and their families suffer. The people who make money at the expense of the weak and infirm don't care. Many young people don't care. It is a crying shame. Can you live with yourself knowing that you haven't done all that you could have done to protect the lives of others? Think about this next time you hear of someone dying or becoming disabled by COVID.

Putting the swab up your nose and rotating it around 5 times felt ticklish and painful at the same time. My test results were showing a faint line, which means that I was COVID-positive. I took some Paxlovid to treat my symptoms, and 5 days after, I started to feel better. Suddenly, my symptoms started coming back a few days after. Fortunately, they went away in like 4-5 days. Today is Saturday and last Monday I began to feel a bit tired but didn't consider COVID (I've been very cautious these past 30 months). I'm freelance and had work where I would be with other people. Tested Tuesday morning, negative. Tested Wednesday morning, negative but I did notice a bit of aching in my shoulders but thought it was from lifting things. Thursday I still tested negative in the morning and I was working that day and around 2pm I thought "oh. I might be sick". My legs hurt and my arms and shoulders. By the time I left at 5pm I knew I had a fever because I was getting the chills and my forehead felt warm. Got home. Had a temperature and tested positive with a very, very faint line. Made my partner test too and he also tested positive but didn't really feel ill. The next day, Friday, I tested again and the line was much more distinct. Today I tested and the line looks like it was drawn with a red magic marker. Also, today I feel the least well. I think I got this from my partner (who also is freelance and also works at the same studio I was at this week). Apparently, there was a woman there last week with a "summer cold" who was coughing and sneezing. She probably infected the 15 or 20 people in and out of the workplace. This is the same company that required PCR tests before you could enter the studio but now all precautions seem to be a thing of the past.

Consider this variable that can affect the faintness/darkness. Patient A has a lot of covid in his system - high viral load, but his nasal swab doesn't produce much material as his nose is dry. He tests positive, but the line is not particularly dark because he didn't introduce much antigen into the test. Patient B does not have a high viral load, but the mucous in his nose is watery and soaks into the swab easily. He tests positive, and the line is quite dark because he harvested quite a bit of antigen to introduce into the test. I think the amount of material gathered on the swab, and the texture of that material, affects how much antigen is entered into the test.

Spoofing aside, what can cause a false positive? I had 5 positive lateral flow test, from 2 different brands, but my 2 PCR tests were negative............I stayed home to be on the safe side......but I still don't understand......ands I still don't know if I had Covid or not.....
@Loonypapa

Antigen flow tests detect the proteins in the hull of the virus particle, whether they be whole virus particles or fragments. PCR tests detect the actual genetic material of the virus, not the proteins. If you had 5 positive antigen tests in a row, that's a pretty clear indicator that you had the virus replicating in you. The negative PCR tests could just be indicating that your immune system is clobbering the virus in your body.

This is my son story. So he tested positive with very tiny faint line at Day 4. It's funny that when he was having a high fever on Day 1, 2,, 3 He tested Negative everyday!!! 🙄 I used iHealth self kit. Today is Day 4, I tested him again. It was fainting line there. At first it looked like Negative. But yeah after 30min to hour, turned Positive.

I can answer this question! The day I woke up with a very stuffy nose 2 weeks ago, I tested immediately with Govt home test and another brand. The both took 1 second as fluid passes the T line to light up like a Christmas tree. Bold bold bold and dark positive line. That was a Sunday. On Monday, same. Tuesday and Wednesday normal line (at least 1/2 of what it was) and Thursday it took hours for a very faint line to show up, so long that the reading time had long passed, and Friday forward negative. However I got a PCR test that same Friday and it was positive and took another one in Monday also positive. My Doc said people can pCR positive test for loooing periods of time long after we’re sick. So she said 10 days and at least 3 with zero symptoms without aids like a fever reducer and were good to go live again. And I did forget to mention that I only had that stuffy nose for two days by the third day my stuffy nose was gone even though I was still lightly testing positive and when I had woken up that Thursday I just knew the moment I woke up I said OK it’s gone I was perfectly fine. Never had a fever no cough no other symptoms just a stuffy nose it felt like somebody shoved a pillow up my head. And the only reason I tested was because I had been at breakfast with friends who work for the airlines and they’ve all had it like three or four times each and I was asking them what it felt like for them and they told me the last couple times it felt like they had a stuffy nose. And I sat there looking at them thinking I feel like I have a stuffy nose today so when I returned home from that breakfast and I tested raging positive I texted all three of them and said OK I just tested positive none of them got sick but we were outside eating breakfast. At this point I don’t know if I was ever contagious or not because I wasn’t coughing and I wasn’t sneezing but I don’t really know that part but from that Thursday moving forward I’ve been around other people who are aware that I had been testing positive but wasn’t any longer on the rapid test but that I was PCR positive still and none of them ever got it either. So on the recap here I was only symptomatic for two days, tested positive for four days on the rapid home test, Nobody that I was around ever became sick. I gotten food poisoning the week before for one day I was very sick and then I had to go to work the next day and I’m around a lot of people and I think I was just run down from my vomiting spree from the food I had eaten, and that’s why I actually caught it and had symptoms. Perhaps if that didn’t even happen I would’ve never had any symptoms at all and still been positive unknowingly or maybe I wouldn’t have been positive at all. All that’s a mystery to me. Current CDC guidelines say if you haven’t had any symptoms for three days you’re good to go
@Loonypapa

@khworker1322 2 жыл бұрын
You have to test negative. 3 days without symptoms means you isolate for 5. Your pcr came back positive probably due to inert (dead) virus particles still in your system. Those tests are very sensitive. Sometimes the virus can hide although little is known about that at this time. The hypothesis came up during long Covid research. Also not well understood at this time. It’s enough to give you a Fking headache.
@Xposetruth
@Xposetruth 2 жыл бұрын
@@khworker1322 right? Lmao. I meant both 3 days without symptoms AND a negative test those 3 days too. The CDC just says it’s around 5 days for those who are vaccinated, but if they have symptoms or tested positive they have to be totally symptom free amd 3 days of negative antigen testing. And same, but 10 days for unvaccinated. The reason is me aside symptoms can develop later on. So have to be sure that doesn’t happen. My doctor and the tech at CVS both told me that the antigen tests tell whether we are actually contagious and the PCR is good for those who have symptoms but getting a negative antigen test. So all those days are set aside to make sure we don’t begin testing positive (become contagious) etc. and yes it’s all def a quagmire.😂

I caught covid twice, both times from a food source. Feeling crappy lately, so used the INDICAID COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test just now. One line in the center which would normally mean negative, but there is a VERY faint red bleed through from underneath the white plastic on the very far side. That red color is well outside the results indicator. I think they messed up the design of this one. I trust the iHealth one a lot more, but I ran out of them.

@@luvcakes2069 no. There are, however "antibodies" that bind to your antigens and then collect in the T line, which makes it show up as a red line. These are very pH sensitive though. I've measured the pH of the buffer which is 9. Generally, the pH of tap water is 7. The water most likely broke down the test and therefore showing both lines. That also works on some tests with drinks like vodka, coca cola, etc. But if you afterwards put in a little more of the buffer liquid, it will wash away the red T-line. That shows you didn't put in the buffer liquid. If you truly test positive, and you put in the buffer afterwards, the red t Line won't wash away. The test, nor the water has the virus in it.

Oh, so many problems with your response. Where to start? First of all, they never said they don't know. They said that a faint line doesn't reliably give you any information about how infectious you are, there are too many variables. Therefore, you should treat any positive result as meaning you're potentially infectious, even if it's faint. Secondly, saying "The test can't tell you how infectious you are" is simply the most honest and factually correct answer. It's not a cop out, and it's not a useless answer. It's simply telling you that the test can't provide you with this information, because the test is not designed to give you this information. Third, I sincerely doubt you actually tested your two water, but even if it did show a positive result that doesn't tell you anything either. You'd be completely abusing the test and using it in a totally inappropriate way, so any result at all from it would be useless. If you misuse an instrument it's not going to work properly... wow, who knew?!

I had a faint T line just recently. The problem is that when you look for "what does a faint line mean" you must 'consider the source'. If the site is 'on the left' then they will say things like "consider it to be positive just to be on the safe side' or 'any line at all is positive', presenting an emotion-derived conclusion (which is useless). Because the whole pandemic is politicized, straightforward information is out the window. I'll get a professional test if this cold feeling doesn't go away in a few days. I'm travelling in Europe right now too. Here for a month.

So best thing to do is to trust the science, your doctor, trust the people who made the test. ANY second line is a positive, it means the test is picking up virus. This report isn't about positive or negative it is addressing the question people have about what a faint line means, many people think," it's faint I am most likely not contagious anymore" Any second line is a positive done. Not left, not right just positive.
