Does the Scott’s Edge Guard mini spread fertilizer properly?

A good portion is going forward but I noticed on my mini the impeller has a slight incline towards the end to help throw over wheel

What setting do you have the spreader set to in those slow-mo shots? I set mine to 5 and am wondering if it isn't enough...

I was using different fertilizers in each one. I do follow the rate that is suggested on the bag. The last shot was my pre emergent and that was a 5 setting. The one that shows a heavy rate was my grub prevention application and that has tiny prills and that was at 4.5. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.

Well, just watched Tommy Tester check out the Mini's throw pattern. He spread over a black top driveway and you can clearly see from the pattern on the driveway that the majority of the prills are retained between the two front wheels. Not good.

Ok I just watched “Tommy Tester” do his spreader testing on the driveway. The Scott’s spreader he is using isn’t the same one I have. But if you don’t like the spreader don’t buy it.

Thanks I did see what he was talking about where the wheels are even with the thrower. Compared to the higher end spreader. It is a cheap spreader so I guess you get what you pay for.

Do u walk at a pretty fast pace? My edge guard mini leaves dark stripes maybe a week or so after I fertilize and I see other people saying they have the same issues. I’m gonna attempt to pick up the pace and possibly lean it back a touch so the fert gets thrown upwards more

Yeah I do walk at a pretty good pace. I also drag the back end along the grass so it’s as level as I can get it. It’s definitely not the greatest spreader but I think it works ok for what I need it for. Thanks for the comment and watching.

@@JonathanDuryea We got in touch with Scott's today. They redesigned the Mini, so if yours is older than 2020, contact them about a refund.

@@dearlaserworksdid Scotts say what they redesigned on the spreader? At first glance the only difference I see is the wheels have cutouts, The impeller still rests below the wheels, and it looks like they would still capture whatever it is you’re trying to spread.
