I currently use an older camera, the Sony a7riiia (came out 6 years ago), but I remember using the Canon 6D that came out 11 years ago. At least on the photography side, it can still produce wonderful images. In RAW, the depth of details, tones, shadows and highlights were and still are great. It can focus great in low light.

The D3100 with it's kitlens was the first camera that I got 11 years ago. Ever since then, I worked on my skill set. Moved graduately through the ranks of bodies and lenses and eventually reached my goal to become a company (Technical) Photographer at KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. My current pride and joy is a Z9 paired with a 300mm f/2.8 VRII, that costed me a lot of hours of hard work en dedication. Never imagined, that obtaining that D3100 back in the day, would spark something in me to reach this level but also meet some awesome people on the way that I now consider dear friends. I just might buy it again (if I can find one) to put it on my little "museum" shelf.

I love the message of this video, though, when you know what Kendy Ty can do with his 12 year old T2i, you will be amazed! Extraordinary work.

For all these older cameras before dropping money please check the shutter actuations. A lot of these were designed with 100,000 shutter click rating, which is not much.

Great job using the camera as a tool. It's the shooter not the camera ! Beautiful work. I had the nikon d7000 and had similar frustrations back then. So my everest shots were constantly fighting my exposure setting. One thing is that native iso is often cleaner than the lowest iso in any given camera. Good to check it for whenever you get a new camera.

I don’t miss AVCHD! My camera from back then was a Canon T2i… which was my first non-camcorder camera. We’re pretty spoiled these days.

Great job challenging us to get out and shoot, and stop using the lack of the latest gear as an excuse!

my D3200 is great, but I’ll probably stick to my Red Raven.

So it is indeed useless yet I really enjoyed. I was hoping you'd do the t2i as that camera changed everything.

I miss the “Dxxx” line of Nikons…my D7000 and subsequent D7100 were absolute workhorses. I wish Nikon had an equivalent Z set of cams…but perhaps the entry level cam has gone the way of the dodo. 😎📸

I used to have a D3300 and it was significantly better than these results just because it was a later and better model. I think it was released in 2012 but if you are looking for a body like the d3100 buying a 33,34, or 3500 will yield significantly better results that this.

Nice video! I work with Nikon D3400 and a Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 lens and I can grab nice videos even to make green screen stuff. Manual focus, tripod locked headshots only

How did you shoot the bird scene without autofocus

Josh here, I pulled focus manually. Took a few tries but I finally got it.

Been shooting with the EOS M for 5 years now. It's nowhere near this bad, especially with magic lantern installed. I know magic lantern is kinda cheating, but it's free and all you need a fast sd card.
