42 years in. I read the 1921 Harp of God a dear Sister left it to me upon her death. She was baptized in the 1930s. I quickly left the org within 6 months. Great Book!

I’m guessing that, because they are trying to cover rumours of old publications being damning and incriminating, Splane has decided to give them some credence, believing that the ‘sheeplike ones’ won’t try/be able to verify. Remember they thought the end would come in 1914, 1916,c1921 1925...so by the 1930s the teaching that all jws were annointed was starting tk become invalid as they had too many to coincide with a 14rk teaching, so anyone after 1934 not baptised was no longer a John class member. Why fo grown adults fall for this bull? I stopped believing as teen as a pretty much born in who (ironically) thank god I never fell for baptism.

I can remember about 20 years ago reading that book and, since I was an active member at the time, simply thought to myself: "How quaint. Haven't we come along way from those ideas." Now Splane says this an example of god's blessing and evidence of the faithful slave doing their job!! I am so glad that removing myself from this foul organisation has given me such an objective view of things and now I can clearly see the stupidity of the "Truth"!

According to the climac book of revelations I've read, i don't remember what's its name anymore..... the water that symbolizes Babylon the great won't be dry at all before they're destroyed. In book 3 of studies in the scriptures Russell devoted an entire chapter on this corner stone that is represented by the top stone in the pyramid of Giza. Called it God’s silent witness and used the measurements of the inside of the pyramid to solidify his 1914 prediction. What a nut case!

That watchtower collection is worth a lot of money. I had quite a library myself 15 years ago but sold it all on eBay for drug money, totaled about $800 for everything, and only a few Chuck Russell books, one or two Judge R books. Most were from the 50s through the 70s.

The teaching is that the anointed from pentecost 33 to 1918 that had died got resurrected as godlike immortal spirits in the spring of 1918. JWs have a very unique idea about the resurrection. They don't believe Jesus was raised bodily, and the heavenly resurrection dribbles on until Armageddon, after which the human resurrection begins to also dribble on through the thousand year reign of Jesus and the resurrected anointed from heaven. It's convoluted and pretty much anathema to regular Christianity.

@@ResearchThis yes, it's essentially the same thing Russell taught, except Russell's dates were 40 years earlier, and Russell didn't insist that people follow the Bible Students for salvation. Russell had the 144,000 resurrected to immortality as godlike spirit beings, the most recent having been enlightened by him and his associates, and he taught an earthly paradise for most everyone else, thus the post-Russell millions now living will never die (he himself was nearly a universalist) but believed faithful Christians not called to the new covenant did still go to heaven, he associated them as the Great Company (crowd) of Revelation. The Judge changed this teaching of course in 1935 on what seemed like a whim, likely because the numbers of Jehovah's witnesses and counting those who'd died for the last 1900 as anointed had reasonably approached 144,000. Fascinating, isn't it? And yet maybe .000001% of anyone knows anything at all about this silly trivia.

What does the phrase "the faithful and discreet slave" mean? Slave to whom, "God"? And the "discreet" part. Is that like- I won't tell anyone because it's too embarrassing? It'll just be between "God" and I? I have to resist the urge to laugh at some of the more outrageous things Splane is saying. Then I remember how toxic and damaging it is.
