Mastitis is exactly what I was concerned about. Once I lost an expensive cow to mastitis. It is a terrible disease which destroys the animal. Not one of my buffaloes in last 5 years got any kind of problem relating to milk. Perhaps because their teats are tightly closed and you have to use full force of your hands to squeeze out the milk, I think that makes it difficult for the germs to get in, but that's just my opinion. Second thing is that they don't allow their calves to stay latched on to their udder. Once the milk is gone they just kick the calves away and they will not nurse them until the next milking time. My main concern regarding buffaloes is to avoid uterine prolapse. The main cause of uterine prolapse is calcium deficiency, because buffalo milk contains 60-70% more calcium than cow milk and bones of buffalo calves are thicker and heavier so the moms are prone to calcium deficiency. So far I have successfully avoided both mastitis and prolapse in buffaloes without using any medication. I have avoided mastitis by keeping them clean and prolapse by keeping them well fed with green fodder. Full stomach keeps the uterus in place. Your videos are great as ever, very informative, down to earth and interactive. I am pretty sure your channel is soon going to gain many more subscribers.

El Hombre de oro As always, thanks for your support. Penny is doing very well! We have been treating her mastitis infection and it has been rapidly improving since we were able to catch it so quickly. Thanks for all the interesting information about your Buffalo’s!
