I had a lower mandible Incisor removed when I was 12ish years old. Now I'm 24 and I have many of the problems you talk about. I have the dark corridors because the mandible is smaller and doesn't align with upper jaw teeth. Mandible teeth are bent at angle towards mouth. Maybe my mandible collapsed inwards after the tooth was removed? I have an overbite as well that may have been caused or influenced by this tooth removal. My mandible definitely looks small and underdeveloped, I'm guessing the overbite and missing incisor influenced this. My smile is very narrow and i usually don't smile because of difficulty lining up my teeth. My jaws aren't able to close comfortably in any position. Mandible is behind my upper jaw at rest and i force it forward to line up with upper jaw front teeth when awake. The incisor was removed because I had abscess under the tooth, maybe the tooth was cracked. Should the tooth have been left alone or replaced with artificial tooth immediately to stop mandible shrinkage? I feel as though the NHS dentists didn't really notice my malocclusion problems and they let me down. They only seem to care that teeth are shiny and white, not about the positioning of the teeth or jaws. All dentists should be trained to understand the alignment of the jaws. It doesn't make sense that they are given the ability rip teeth out without considering how it affects the jaws. I appreciate the work that you are doing on this channel.

@@mostsacredangel Don't blame yourself friend! , i had 6 teeth extract cause the dentists thought that it could solve my temporo-mandibular disfunction... so, yes, they just think about themselves and money, nothing else. i search for a real help on the internet and find cranio-sacral therapy, and its working amazing since then, only 2 sessions and i fell so much better in regard of the disfunction. I am with braces yet cause i have to close the gap that was left between the teeths, after years and years of bulshit ''doctors'' telling me that we're going to be fine and then fail on that matter. Luckily I finally find some help through osteopathy . i pass through difficult times, theses problems with the DTM and extractions of teeth lead me to depression and dislike of myself. and cause a lot of assymetry on my maxilla, A LOT. but i keep my feet on the ground and and I will not let it bring me down. Currently my plan is to remove the assymetry with the treatment that i mentioned and after that search for a good implant to recover at least 4 teeth. No meu caso eu arranquei 3 Sisos, e depois minha mordida começou a ficar MUITO aberta, chegou ao ponto que eu tava com dificuldade até em falar. Então o ''dentista'' mandou eu arrancar mais 2 pré-molares do lado esquerdo da boca, um em cima e outro embaixo. tirei e fiquei 1 ano com o aparelho, quando vi meu rosto tava um pouco pra esquerda kkkkk, aí eu perguntei pra ele porque aconteceu aquilo e ele disse que pra corrigir seria necessário arrancar mais um da direita(o de baixo) já que um pré-molar de cima já tinha sido arrancado na minha época de adolescência. Então eu arranquei estou há 2 anos já com o aparelho, usando elastiquinho e tudo. voltou um pouco pra direita a assimetria mas a maxila superior ainda continua um pouco torta na diagonal. tava pensando em tirar o aparelho antes mesmo de fechar a lacuna que ficou entre os dentes debaixo. porque depois que comecei a fazer osteopatia notei uma melhora significativa não só na assimetria mas como também na minha articulação temporo-mandibular. Resumo, to com 7 dentes a menos na boca, uma assimetria que eu espero ser corrigida, agora com o tratamento certo, e ainda em dúvida se eu tiro o aparelho agora ou se espero mais uns 5 meses pra tirá-lo. This happened to me. I had 4 teeth extracted at 30 and have had multiple consultations to correct my smile and bite. No one believes that my smile, lips and jaw changed due to the treatment. Now at 40, I finally found an orthodontist that will work with me to correct the previous orthodontic work. *** I had wisdoms removed in my early 20's and was told by orthodontist that I had to get my premolars removed for braces.

Happend to me at 13. All four first premolars. I protested, to no avail. Not even at the direction of an orthodontist. It was my family ‘dentist’ who declared I had ‘crowding’. Dude, I didn‘t even had crooked teeth, just some little bit of bunny front teeth. But my mum listened to my dentist money making manipulations. One premolar and all wisdom teeth gone. I plan to remove my retainers and let my teeth shift back in their natural position. I don‘t care if my premolar tooth gap will return, I will just put a fake tooth in there. I am 21 and rather have a good face structure than some artificial straight teeth. (Warning: If you plan to remove your retainer, especially after tooth extractions, ask your orthodontist if your retainers push your teeth outwards or pull them inwards. If they push outwards, don‘t remove them as your teeth might collapse inward. If they pull your teeth inwards, you can remove them. But ask them about how your teeth will shift after tooth extraction.)

I had to have my bottom molar extracted as a kid and one side of my face is flatter/rounder and less wide. My smile is uneven so is my face. It completely destroyed me and gave me serious self hatred issues or at least majorly fueled it. There isn't a day I am not conscious about it. It sucks. I was quite extrovertish happy kid but now I am the exact opposite. I am trying to live with it but it's hard, I don't know. I care for my skin, hair, eat healthy, work out but nothing helps, I still can't accept this. I know looks aren't everything but my image is still important to me and I hate this imagine.

Look into orthodontics to fix it. I had badly done orthodontics pull 4 adults teeth and my face is totally messed up now. I’m about to start with a new person to get a pallet expander, braces (and maybe false implants if needed to fill the space) to try correct the damage as much as possible. Best of luck.

@@xeyutipe sorry that was address right the OP. Orthotropics has videos on wisdom teeth. I think sometimes you need to get them out. With modern soft diets and changes in bone and skull size/shape they can have a negative effect I believe.

To repair this I would have to get braces to open up the space again and have a tooth implanted then jaw bone surgery (maybe expandors etc idk). That's awfully expensive and time draining. Dr. Do you recommend a palette expander instead of teeth extractions. My daughter has braces and she has and overjet bite due to her teeth being crowed. Our orthodontist will put a palette expander to avoid extraction of 2 teeth. But I have been told by two dentist that it won’t work that extractions are the correct way. I’m trusting our orthodontist and I didn’t want my daughter to have any teeth pull out. I would like to know your advice if the palette expander is the best choice.

Damn, this is tough! My first bet as sb who isn't a professional would be to just try it with an expander first and when that shouldn't help then the teeth must go out. If you can't get around an extraction of the teeth ask for microimplants or something like that that could prevent the jaw from falling together. However, maybe try talking to more orthodontics and write down your exact questions. I wish you two good luck!

I had a palate expander and it was the best decision! My overbite was cured and I have not needed extractions since. I have had braces again (invisalign) to correct minor overcrowding and overbite resurgence because I didn’t wear the retainer long enough. Expansion or biobloc treatment beats extraction hands down

I had recently a wisdomtooth extraction on my upper jaw rightside where there was a cavity but no pain or infections. I was not made aware of the risks or procedure associated with extraction of wisdomteeth at my age 40. Neither did I know that I already had a premolar extracted in my teenage years due to othodonic braces where they extracted 4 molars 1 on each side. Its been 7 days and im still swollen in the face and my speech and lip is different. The dentists took 30 minutes to extract the tooth in a very painful procedure that pulled my whole sinus area and she extracted both flesh and some bone with it. And now I'm worried that I my have some permanent nerve, bone a muscle damage that will change my face shape and cause me problems in the future? Any advise on what should I do?

Having teeth extracted can also have longer-term implications and the more teeth you have removed the greater the potential implications. Having teeth removed has the effect of changing the facial structure of the patient, potentially pulling the mouth back and slightly flattening the face. As the patient then ages, this could manifest itself in flatter cheekbones and thinner lips, prematurely ageing them. And the braces procedure itself due to pressing so hard on the root of the teeth will effect the bone of the face in a bad way!

many models gets wisdoms removed for cheekbone definition. john mew said that removing the teeth isn't itself the cause of the facial change. As only the alveolar and not the jaw bone gets remodelled. Usually you face becomes more hollowed and better looking if you remove a wisdom tooth that was previously grazing on the cheek. because remember that the cheekbone is always in contrast to the cheek, remove the support for the cheekpad and the cheekbone shines even larger.

I know no one’s gonna reply to me but I need help. I feel so lost and tired i have an extremely small jaw, my ortho put expanders on my upper and lower palate when I was 8 (?) (I’m 14 turning 15 now). for my lower jaw, it’s getting better, but for my upper, it’s still small. He says he needs to extract my right premolar . But it doesn’t even make sense ?? I already have a midline deviation and a small jaw, my tongue can’t even fit up. Its so hard. And he said he might take out either my premolar or my canine ?.?? I’ve heard of a treatment I think it’s called ipv or Ipf.. it’s were they put a razor and cut only a bit of your teeth.. but I don’t know if it’s for pre molars or canines :( I DONT Even care anymore. I DONT want to take it out but he is so convinced to take it out , also some thing else the tooth didn’t come out. I still have teeth that didn’t come out due to my small jaw. Please help me :( im very sad. I’m already ugly and tooth extractions are gonna make me uglier.

Can anything be done after the wisdom teeth were removed? I had 3 healthy wisdom teeth and only one had a soft spot not even a cavity formed yet so my dentist was considering removing that one upper wisdom tooth. I wasn't worried about removing them and didn't ask to follow up with that dentist. However, when I started my invisalign treatment at a University Orthodontic clinic the supervising professor mentioned I should just removed my upper and lower to help with invisalign I believe. I was hesitant but I went to see an Oral surgeon who said my lowers are fine she wouldn't remove them but if they are asking for your Invisalign treatment I guess I can do it. I didn't think much of it at the time but my teeth were all out and healthy and I was already 31 at the time living with my wisdom teeth all these years without issues they were not impacted and came in straight. I am almost finished my invisalign treatment now and guess what? I noticed my cheeks are less full and my eye sockets seem sunken in, my face looks more narrow only 1 year after removing my wisdom teeth. I looked back at all the photos before the removal and my face was rounder and childlike. I feel I have aged 10 years in one year at first I didn't notice it but looking back the the photos I can see where the narrowing started it's like my cheeks deflated over the months following the removal. I am so upset and I don't know if anything can fix this now. I wish I knew all of this before removing them all. Does anyone know if there's a way to restore the facial structure or help? I asked a dentist friend of mine and he assures me this isn't a thing and that there's nothing that can be done anyways even if wisdom teeth removal does affect facial structures. The majority of oral surgeons and dentist all seem to deny there's any changes after removing wisdom teeth but I have seen it firsthand and read testimonials of others saying the same thing....

Getting my Wisdoms out in two days, and I’m uncertain on this topic as I fear removal of them will be like removing the foundation of my jaw. It’s already paid for, so it’s hard to fight it with my parents. God gave me a certain number of teeth for a reason, and perhaps I’ve spent too long on a normal diet and my mouth wasn’t worked enough for my body to adapt properly for them. I have never needed to extract any teeth in the past and I’m very concerned that this will disrupt the balance of my face, and jaw bone. Remember wisdom teeth come through later in life. If your teeth haven't come through at all, or are partially present but not completely in place, you haven't developed enough space. You've lacked in tongue posture or function somewhere that reduced your forward growth to make the room required

@@augusto7681 no all that matters is the palette size and shape. Dr John Mew said himself the teeth are simply passengers on the vehicle - the vehicle is the palette. Once theteeth are removed, there is greater chance the palette can be shrunk, couple this with braces or poor oral posture and the face may shrink and downswing. But extractions per se dont do the damage.

I am an orthodontic assistant and my dr told me I need 4 teeth pulled and many others have told me. I’m 21 and an expanded would just be so painful since my arch is fused together. And doing open coils would make everything just more painful. Also, my teeth are flared out and I was told an expander or OC’s would make it even more flared. Thoughts???

T Miller If you’re a borderline case between extraction and no extraction, id say don’t extract. I was a borderline line and having 4 premolar extracted and teeth retracted into my space has worsen my entire facial structure.. my smile has gotten so narrow and my face is sunken in. Get a few more opinions from other doctors. Just put Invisalign to make your teeth less flare if that is an option. Definitely don’t extract teeth if you’re a borderline case.

Mike, I'm 29 and still have my four wisdom teeth in, they've been in for about 6 years. I declined several times to get them extracted, and had minimal complications as they came in. THowever, and it's pretty annoying, the wisdom teeth are crooked, jutting outwards slightly towards the cheeks. I find with harder foods like nuts, or even soft foods, I consistently bite my cheeks with them. Any recommendations? I plan on consulting with a local dentist who's familiar with orthotropics.

Hey! I asked the dentist about shaving down the sharp edges, he said it couldn’t be done! Apparently if the teeth don’t fully contact each other, top to bottom, they can start growing again, which would be not ideal in this scenario. I just mitigate the problem, chew slowly and if I do bite my cheek I use listerine to keep it from getting infected. Maybe not the best but it’s currently working.

Now I got my left PERFECTLY STRAIGHT wisdom teeth removed & i already notice how my jaw on the left side isnt as defined as before. So now my jaw is asymetrical. The dentist there recommended keeping the teeth and simply using my thumb to push the one tooth every so often. Doing this for many months will slowly adjust the positioning. Also I simply eat slowly to reduce the risk of chomping on my cheek.

I read about Dr. Mew and followed on and off since 2013 but I thought it was kinda late for me since they took my braces off two years prior and also extracted my premolars for this. After braces I noticed a big (negative) change in my face. That's why Dr. Mew made a lot of sence to me. With the years though I just got worse, my body got used to it and positioned my head in a different way so I can breathe better my lower teeth all formed an inverted U cause tongue is pushing down. Anyways, I heard that because I don't have enough space in my palate mewing is risky for me. What can I do? Is there a solution for me other than surgery?
