people need to understand that this 'fear of the unknown', whatever lurks in their subconscious, the thing that makes them hesitant to participate in an experience like this... that fear is the thing holding you back from truly understanding yourself. Who are you, at the deepest level? If you can't stand the idea of being alone with your own thoughts and fears , then it's you who will benefit MOST from altered perception (psychedelic therapy, meditation, sensory deprivation, etc). Most people are (even if they don't know it yet) inherently unwilling to participate in this sort of deep diving, usually by our environment, our family situation or trauma, religious upbringing, and societal rules. Ask the ultimate questions. Receive the ultimate gift.

I want to try this so much. I would absolutely fall asleep almost instantly. The subject should sit in an extremely comfy chair so that the body relaxes as well. Input about gravity and sit upright is still going on.

I doubt it. These rooms are so quiet you can hear your own hearbeat and blood pumping which would probably be very anxiety inducing

Are people for real this uncomfortable with their subconscious? I'm really cool with my mind, so it always makes me wonder if people "ham it up" for the camera, or because they know others (on the production team) are watching in experiments like this...

That’s not the point. Lol. It’s an experiment of the brain. She is not scared. It’s a perfect example of the brain reacting to a new environment without the sight or sound. An experience none of us have done. For example, it’s like those restaurants that serve food in complete darkness. Our brains will perceive food/taste differently.

A float tank is even more sensory deprived than this. But in this situation placebo is influencing her too much, she was already half way there before it even started just from suggestion. How could this have been so easily overlooked? She would have been able to take control of the experience if she realized she had the potential ability to.

My guy, we're not all built the same mentally. If you're prone to overthinking, and especially if you have some sort of an anxiety disorder, once that snowflake lands, it doesn't stop until it's an avalanche at the bottom of the mountain. Some people can reassure themselves and be fine while others really can't.

As a mom who gets little to no silence or time to self, I'd love a chance in a room like this, to pray & worship & probably sit there recalling all the things I need to do and haven't done yet. I'd be asking them to make a list for me as I call out the tasks I remember. LoL

Or the opposite. I have tinnitus too, and when I'm in very quiet places, the ringing feels much, much louder. Once when there was a blackout at night, I had to hum softly to put some real sound in the room because the ringing felt (ironically enough) deafening.

Would love to see an experiment comparing the methods that neurotypical and neurodiverse people cope with the room. As a neurodiverse person, I am always thinking and analysing with or without external inputs. I would expect a clarity of thought with an injection of meditation. You still have sensory input as you can touch yourself. Interesting and great to watch.

I built one of these Anechoic Chambers in one of my closets. I go in for hours. I love to hallucinate, drug free. I often have Anechoic Chamber hallucinations about whatever my desires at the moment are. Be my momentary desire be for sex, money, power, influence, mastery or control of people, resources, and events. After two hours, I am so rested that I often don't need sleep for at least 18 of the following hours. It's like getting REM sleep on steroids.

This is where women are different from men. Where do all of her subconscious thoughts go? They bounce around in her head and can't be released or projected onto others. She has to learn proper meditation, clear her mind completely, and some relaxation techniques. I love to be left alone working in my dark study all weekend. My wife thinks I'm an alien. I think I stared into space for 19 hours once thinking about nothing. 15 minutes would be an absolute joke.
