Today we're playing around with the traction control feature on my 2019 Rockstar Edition Husqvarna 450 to see if it really helps improve your lap times, or if it's just a gimmick. Hope you guys enjoy!

I’d love to see you on some Cone/Traxx suspension and then compare lap times to your stock, I know the answer but I want to see you on some pro level suspension on the Husky 450, I think it will make a bigger difference than what you got on your 250. 👍

Love seeing you on the 450, another thing to consider with the traction control is you are going to conserve more energy while churning out faster laptimes even more important in a race, that’s going to help you get better finishes results etc. Now get that suspension pro tuned, valved etc, good vid Jeff 🤙

I have ZERO experience from dirtbikes. So now i’m just asking. Is it like for streetbikes where a less skilled rider can get faster times with the help of TC, but an experienced rider might not see the benefits as much? You know, based on throttle control, track knowledge, etc.

Definitely. Most times we ride sand, it has been recommended to turn off tc. But if it is not deep enough, and has a slick base, it is super useful. Ride 90% of the time with TC on (more Enduro/cross-country than Moto, but even when motoing here in TX)

Holy sh*t, that looks like my perfect track, fast and open... railing those berms pinned on any bike has got to feel as close to playing MX Unleashed as real life is ever going to get!!! I'd like to see the results after you've spent a lot more time with TC-On. It should let you nail the throttle harder & sooner so with some experience that should make a much bigger difference to your lap times.
@Snakeeyes9909
@Snakeeyes9909 4 жыл бұрын
Im new to dirtbikes but I feel that since you're so good at riding and have good throttle control it makes little difference. For someone who is beginner to intermediate I think it could make a bigger difference maybe on either side of the spectrum since they just don't have the natural feel you have to know when to give and take on the throttle.

A tenth isn't enough of a difference to call it one way or another, IMO. Like any racing config, it'll work better at some tracks on some days and not much difference at other times. It's a good tool to understand, and to check on lower traction tracks. Just my .02 cents- you're the pro, my days on the track are long gone. Good luck!

if you ever get a chance to watch 1 of RV2 old go-pro videos you can listen to the motor and how low of a RPM he races in and goes around the tracks compare to anyone else pro videos they are in a much higher RPM and this is how all the kaw. riders trans is built and makes there motors sound so low compare to everyone else but this helps with arm pump not having to fight to hold on to the bike and it had more traction idk but t/c on would be a good thing cuz idk if you can get one of there custom trans... great video

TC isn't usually optimal in loamy conditions. Out here in (dry) SoCal, I notice it works really well in sand-on-garage-floor(basically blue-groove with a light coating of sand on top) conditions-which we see pretty much daily on our heavily-ridden tracks, especially 2-3 hours into the day.

I feel like on loose dry dirt it would help a lot but in perfect conditions TC would slow an experienced rider down. It works by cutting power when it feels the tire slipping. Even if your tire slips you’re still getting power down to the ground and if you know how to move your weight back you can reduce the slippage some.

On my Africa Twin DCT I love the TC off rad, even on lowest level you can get a little wheel spin, but with 100hp 80ft lb it doesn't matter if the bike is 50lbs that rear wheel can get crazy real fast. Even in Michigan sand I can still get enough pull to keep moving, not a hindrance at all.

Sometimes the back wheel slides a bit before it finds grip ether by digging a bit down or a little sideways, how does TC handle this? Does it give you next to no power and then build up if allowed, or does it have a min power level it will never go under, at least not right away. It looks like you are allowed to spin the back wheel in the air, even with TC on.
