The belief that a weightlifting belt is protective against injuries likely makes it helpful for reduced low back pain (for an individual with that belief) via increased confidence/decreased fear. Would love to see a study on this as I think the protective effects are overblown from an anatomical/physiological perspective

So to be nitpicky, belt doesn't make you stronger, just boosts your performance if you have the skill to use. Everyone in the weightlifting/physiotherapy as far as I understand, recommends you to not use the belt unless you're really lifting heavy weights, and especially not to use it to "protect your back" but learn the mechanics to protect your back yourself and then just use the belt to enhance performance in the close to maximum lifts for practice for competition. Some weightlifters even use belt just in the competition.

As someone with 4 herniated discs, I wouldn't be able to do leg day safely without a belt and weightlifting shoes.

But for what else workouts is the belt good too? I dont do deadlifts, so I wonder if the belt can help me elsewhere.

Squats, front squats, overhead press, push press, btn press, romanian deadlifts and so on
