As a grower, after the initial dry in a dedicated ACI tent. I like to cure for one month in Grove Bags. Then I put in glass jars with burp lids. I burp once a week for two weeks, then Vacuum seal the whole thing. I have kept them for a year, and it is almost perfect.

I work in the industry. You are correct sir! THC degrades to CBN overtime. CBN does have psychoactive effects, not as much as THC, but you will be sleepy. Keep your concentrates cool, but don't freeze. Unless the producer requires freezing. Distillates don't really expire.

My friends mom gave us her old stash from the last time she smoked. Late 70s early 80s. It was not good. It was more for the experience than the high. But in oregon we get 35-50$ zips that are a year or so old. The jar in front of me says October 2023 but it was a $7 8th.

Torching some that I acquired in December of '22, NOW. I haven't a clue when it was harvested. edit: I don't notice a quality difference in effect. The flavor, aroma, appearance, et cetera are a different story. It kind of got orange/red color on the most exterior of the nugs. I'm guessing from oxidation. It lost most of it's aroma (has a very generic scent but extremely faint) until burned. Strain: unknown edit II: Storage system utilized; Hobby Lobby li'l baggies, Jif peanut butter jar (plastic type)/upgraded to amber mason jars Jan this year.

when I acquire a quantity of flower, I turn half to butter and the rest goes to the humidor. as for old smoke. I carry a bullet wherever I go and have for 20 years. at any time, I might have 4-5 strains, so I fill several at a time. I probably have 30 of them around and every once in a while, I find one in a place I haven't looked for 13 years. they get a bit dank but they still work

I didn't smoke this myself since this was before I smoked. But, a long while ago, I and some kid were hired to help clean out a house after a friend of my dad had passed away. And while we were helping move all of the deceaseds' possessions out, we found and old wooden eye glass box with a few nuggs of dark green wet skunky weed that must've been sitting there a - a while - . I declined to smoke it cuz I didn't smoke at the time, but dude brought it home and tried to dry it out. I don't know how that hit was cuz we split after the job was done and I never seen him again but that weed looked ᴏʟᴅ.

@@doknox from my experience letting dry out more than not produces a supperior bud. unless its bone dry to were its supper soft, your not "over" drying if its so dry it crumbles. the best weed ive grown was the weed that breaks apart when i sqeaze it. letting it sit around in a jar with any more moisture than that usually mesd up my tree. point being i doint think its the moisture content but rather how old the tree was that won...

Fun note on the edibles. If your storing butter like cooking butter that been infused. It was most likely put through a process which results in "clarified" butter bassicly that means that during infusing it was held at a temp that achieved pasteurization of the butter and this makes the storage time much higher atleast in my experience. I had a 1lb if butter wrapped and kept in the fridge for almost a year and it was still fine. No funk no bunk. So just for anyone one who dose need to store edibles you might Wana read up on clarified butter and store that instead of getting excited n baking 1,000,000 cookies.

Ex-grower, was always experimenting with the curing process, always fascinated me. Viability ranges, but with proper harvest/storage, a year or so after initial chop is when you start to see a drop in quality. Two years, pretty dried out, noticable drop in quality. Best to make canna butter or bho at that point. Had some long term cure, 18 months give or take. Sativa dominant hybrid, 2 week dry time after harvest, transferred to jars and burped for 2-3 months, little over a year in storage. Still some fire...

If its not stored or cured correctly flower and concentrates definitely have a best before date/ shelf life...THC to CBN like you mentioned. Also if your flower is going moldy in cure it was never dried properly to begin with. Also being exposed to oxygen.....its called oxidation mate. Then theres fermentation cures like cobs which also converts THC to CBN.

I’ve currently got weed in a jar with a boveda pack keeping it moist that I grew about 3 years ago & it is still fine, the jar is kept in a kitchen cupboard that doesn’t get opened often so basically in dark place. I do wonder though how long it could remain “ok”

If storing weed for the long term, make sure it is stored at the right humidity, out of direct light in a cool dark place, vacuum sealed, and your weed should be fine for at least half a year or more.

I keep my flower in the bag/tube that it comes in but I keep them in a lockbox in my closet. It’s not that I don’t trust my kids when they tell me that they aren’t interested in smoking any weed let alone my weed. It’s more that it’s about peace of mind for husband & meeting legal safety requirements. I keep my concentrate in the fridge, in the egg bin. I don’t really do carts. They just don’t do it for me.

Best before/expiry/ use by date....all different. Traditional dry sift hash is best long cured and gets better imo. Flower degrades easily over time if not stored correct away from oxygen.

CHALLENGE: Whats the oldest weed you can buy? Dont care if its smoked. I'm talking like a global challenge.. wouldnt it be sick to see if we could do a huge competition to see what the oldest weed somebody can source? I mean.....
