We have a brand-new kitten, 2 months old, he was very skittish in the beginning which we expected. However, few weeks in, this cat rolls over on his back stretches, and lets me rub that belly for as long as I can, while purring. It’s definitely rare in cats, but if you earn their trust, they’ll let you!

My little orange man loves his tummy rubs! Whenever I come back home, we do his “I missed you” flops. Or “tummy & the spine.” (Sing that like “Benny & the Jets,”) There’s lots of head bunts, a huge purr & some little love nips on my toes & lots of hope that you don’t need to use the bathroom immediately after coming in the door. It’s been our routine since he came home from the shelter. He’s four, & I just love this squishy happy dude so squishin happy much! 💜🐾

All of our cats have loved to have their belly rubbed and scratched. None have ever hissed, swatted, or swiped at us!! Have had cats for 35 years. We even had some jump into the sink in the bathroom and turn belly up while we're sitting on the loo!

Some cat breeds don't mind bellyrubs, but many do not. If your cat lets you give bellyrubs, you're very lucky indeed.

I adopted 2 adult cats from a hoarding situation, two years ago. Two years later both these boys want their belly rubbed. Trust me I do not push my need to pet them over their needs to not be harassed. My cats want me to scratch both them all over especially on their bellies.

I have two 9 year old boys. Asher will like a belly rub twice a day and me to hold his paws when he is sat on me. I put this down to him surving a road accident at 1.5 years old and the tube feeding and nursing I had to while he adjusted to being blind. He now leads a vary happy life with his brother oron ❤❤

aaaw i used to do that to honeybear, she seemed to be indifferent but mildly enjoyed it as shed often purr and flop, or shed wiggle gently after a raspberry, id put her down and she purr and rub on me and then initiate play if a toy was near by.

It's a personality type. Some people think it's abuse to handle you cat, and other people will straight up make the cat fit into the carrier if it scratches you at all during handling.

My big tabby likes this now that he trusts me. He was a rescue cat and is a real survivor. But it’s also a good way to start a fight if we are both inclined - we both know the difference and he doesn’t hurt me even when we do. Always involves the back feet which we have agreed are no-go. He has big sharp teeth and did lay me open in the early days due to over-stimulation from normal petting, being a biter not a scratcher. Now he purrs and kneads the air with tummy rubs.

I guess I was lucky then. My family has owned 10 cats over the years and 5 of them loved it when I gave them belly rubs 3 of them liked it from time to time and the last 2 didn't like them at all.

I had a cat that would do exactly that. Lay down next to me rolling and purring and as soon as you went for the belly he'd trap you and chomp you. He wouldn't go teeth deep but you weren't getting away with all your skin.

Only had 1 cat who didn't really like his tail touched periodically. He was a feral kitten when we got him and became a lap cat in less than a year. None of our cats have minded legs, paws, or tails being touched.

My cat is really relaxed so even when I touch him in a place he doesn’t like being touched, he doesn’t really attack me he just will move away when he doesn’t like being touched in a certain place

I guess my Russian Blue GiGi is one of the rare ones…. She absolutely loves belly rubs! She will jump up on my bed get right in front of me and flip on her back waiting for belly rubs and sometimes she will get in front of me when I’m walking and flop over on her back trying to get me to stop and lean down for belly rubs. She’s just the sweetest and loves cuddles! I count myself blessed 🥹 🐈‍⬛🐾💞😻🫶🥰

Had a Russian Blue / Bengal cross years ago who also adored belly rubs. (And yes, that combo was as dangerously smart as you would expect from those breeds. Using round door knobs, figuring out how to use the TV remote...)

My daughter's 16 yr old cat has always loved belly rubs. She comes up to me and lays down on the bed next to me. I will start to rub her belly and she will put her back legs around my wrist and uses them to move my hand if I'm not rubbing the right spot. She has lain there up to 3 hrs for her complete belly rub.

I have 3 cats. All of them like belly rubs. My big boy Fuzz is all black and looks like a panther. My vet was giving him a check up and she asked if I could hold him because he was puffing up and hissing at them because he was scared. I scooped him up and then rubbed my face on his belly to calm him down and she looked at me like I was insane. I said he is a lover, but he is getting a little fat n bitey like his daddy in his old age.

Surprisingly, I have 2 black female former feral cats in my house that like belly rubs. One I've had in my house with me for 4 years, one for only 5 weeks, but I had been feeding her on my patio for about 6 months.

Parent need to teach their Babies or Small childern to respect Cats and not to touch handle or rough play with them.How do I teach my toddler to be nice to the cat? Teach Gentle Handling- Encourage soft strokes and provide positive reinforcement when the child shows gentle and respectful behavior toward the cat. If the child starts playing rough with the cat, such as pulling a cat's tail, ears or whiskers, firmly tell them to stop and redirect them on how to pet gently. Young children are naturally curious and want to touch new things around them, especially things that move, including swishy cat tails, but this can sometimes lead to rough handling. It is important to teach your child how to handle a cat gently and with care. Demonstrate the proper way to pet a cat, emphasizing avoiding sensitive areas like the belly or tail. Encourage soft strokes and provide positive reinforcement when the child shows gentle and respectful behavior toward the cat. If the child starts playing rough with the cat, such as pulling a cat’s tail, ears or whiskers, firmly tell them to stop and redirect them on how to pet gently. It’s important to intervene, even if the cat seems unbothered, because you don’t want the child to assume that all cats are comfortable with rough play.

Our black cat Raven demands belly rubs from me multiple times per day. I'm the only one she'll let do it. The funny thing is that she is actually my girlfriend's cat - she had her before we met - but my gf jokes that she's "my cat" now because she really took to me for some reason.

I usually get 2 or three rubs before triggering the trap, but I can disarm the triggering if I do a chin scratch at the same time.

My Kitty is one of the moody ones but we learned each other well :) I rub his shoulder and neck area when he flips over and when he is in the mood he pulls my hand to his belly. At times he does start play mode when I reach his belly, but I did teach him my pain tolerance so he doesn't hurt me ^_^ I gently tap his forhead with two fingers when he reaches my pain limit and he instantly stops. Now he usually keeps it gentler so I don't need to tap anymore ^_^

It’s not rare to have your cat like tummy rubs look it up, some do. Just be careful because in most of the clips you showed, they were rough when rubbing their belly

Yeah I've been bitten when I rubbed a cat's belly and got used to it. Actually had fun with it cause I was playing with them. But my cat Yuki was a different story. I got him as a kitten from a cat hoarder and yet he got attached to me almost immediately. He did bite me a bit when he was young but as he got older he seemed to not give a damn. I can now pet him on the belly with no problem and he even stretches his legs when I do it. Not sure why I can do it but he is the only one

Nope, my Romeo wants belly rubs... in fact he's ben dubbed a 'belly rub sl*t" tho sometimes he more wants his HEAD rubbed... just his human isn't smart enough in cat gestures to differentiate between the 2... and I'll get a bunny kick... but he'll grab my arm then rub his head against my hand as a clue ;)

I've had cats since I was an adolescent, 20 in total. Every single one loved tummy rubs. Each one was a rescue or a stray. That seems pretty coincidental for 1 person attracting that many outliers. My favorite cat was a rescue who had been severely abused by people as a baby. He came to me wanting love so badly but being terrified of someone touching him. It took 3 months of patience, love, and a constant flow of gentle words to win his trust enough that he let me pet him. The first spot he let me touch and stroke was his tummy. The rest of him came slowly, later. I currently have another abused and traumatized cat I adore and her favorite thing which calms her raging anxieties, especially when it rains, is a tummy rub. She will drool with happiness and demands marathon 20-30 min sessions (oh my aching arms). Maybe it's not necessarily about the spot itself but how good a person is when touching their cat? My other girl loves to lick my tummy before she snuggles up to me for a nap. She will also exchange head and belly grooming with my youngest. They have an on/off, love-irritation relationship that I find fascinating.

My cat Gremlin is like this. She only lets me touch her belly - never my fiancé, never any one else. She never bites or paws/claws at me. I can tickle and rub her belly when she’s flopped near or on me too.

When he was younger he didn't want to hear it when it came to belly rubs... but now that he's older he doesn't mind at all... i do pet his belly very gentle at the same time i rub his shoulders and he's very loveable. If he's not in the mood he vocalizes a bit of a growl whereby i know it's not a good time lol.

My kitty loves belly rubs as long as they're gentle. Weird thing that she loves as well is when I gently pull her tail. I give it a very slow, gentle pull with a light grip & she pulls away while I let the tail slip out of my hand. Once her tail slips out of my grip she rubs her face on that hand very hard & her purring gets louder.

I must be lucky.... really lucky because an hour after I got my cat from the spca she let me rub her belly & let's me rough up her belly & I've only had her for 3 or 4 months now.... I love my Lilith & she's only 3 she was a stray but so friendly hardly nervous for an ex stray

My 2 older kittens from different mothers both roll over and show their bellys for rubs but the 2 younger kittens from different mothers never show their bellys for rubs though they will let me rub their bellys to check them but I have to ask first and when they've had enough all of the put one back leg on my wrist to push me away and that's when to stop or lose your arm😹😹😹😹❤️

I have 3 cats all from the same letter who are 10 years old. They all enjoy belly rubs and one of them is the fanatic about it. She loves them. The other 2 like them but are not as needy as the female.
