Interestingly nuanced deduction, Sam.

I have two Mosins, the first one I acquired was in 1965. It was a Finish army rifle that was sold by Sears and Roebuck and had been sporterized. The second one is dated 1928 that I picked up at a shooting range. Love them both.

Up until recently, I had a correct German captured Mosin that was given to Finland as aid in 1944. The rifle had a blued bolt, renumbered in a small font, identical to that used on most k98s, and a white rear sight. The bolt was a much darker blue than the one in this video, and the old serial number was completely ground away and restamped, not crossed out.

I had seen a 91/30 at a gun show a few years back. The bolt was blued. Said it was a German capture. Kinda wish I had bought it now. Was before the hike in Mosin prices.

This is interesting I have never seen or even heard of a blue bolt on any Mosin.

I picked up a m28/30 last year that had a blued bolt and also had multiple serials similar to yours.

Take some IP alcohol and rub it on with a rag. If the bluing comes off, it is cold bluing done by someone that possessed the rifle before you received it. A armory would not use cold bluing.

I have a pre Soviet Finn 1917 receiver date. 1943 Tikka barrel. No Soviet markings at all

I have a 1938 Tula blued bolt. Potbelly stock, m91 style front sight, rear sight leaf in the white.

You can find VZ24 that have blued bolt, part of a German rework.

Also, that dark stock is kinda weird, Sam. Any idea what finish it is? Why so dark? Looks done by a military depot for reissue to OPFOR. Quite the cool looking gun. It's an oldie too. I see Mosin Museum video, I hit like. I'm a simple shooter lol.

HelloSam, like everyone I need a bent bolt. They are supper hard to find. I can't afford a PU. Great work as always. Thanks
@AldoSchmedackАй бұрын
If ya insist, take a spare non matching bolt handle piece and have a smith do it. Never the original. Leave Mosin alone, just use the spare parts modded so hou can restore to original.
@DeimosPCАй бұрын
It'll never be a PU.. No matter what you do to it. Just save your money and get a PU or a clone.

Have not seen one like this. But peculiar to see something possibly altered by the Germans with no distinctive markings.

My Spanish civil war 1936 Tula 91/30 has a blued bolt, although I don’t know how applicable that would be to your rifle
@1murder99Ай бұрын
Mine has no bluing but several rust stains. The previous owner, a young Vietnamese guy, didn't know how to take care of it.
