Yes! Definitely worth exploring some drone if you’ve got tendinitis issues. Have battled similar issues on and off for years. Thank for the encouragement. You are a hell of an instructor. I need more depth in the tuning Of drop "A" . A short video demonstrating on how to tune drop "A". Thanks boss keep up the good work.
@DoesItDoom9 ай бұрын
You’ll need strings in the range of 13-65 or so on gauge. Tune the entire guitar to B-standard and then drop the pitch of the 6th string to match the pitch of the 4th string (A). That’s drop A. It will require your nut slots to be cut wider and your guitar will need a full setup (action, intonation, neck relief). You may also need to drill out the 6th string tuning peg to accommodate the 65 string.

I love Doom Metal. It doesn’t cost this much money to get a great Doom guitar sound. I get amazing heavy tones with a Peavey Predator, Squire Vintage Modified Mustang, Squire Classic Vibe Jaguar, Mexican Stratocaster from 2004 and an Epiphone SG Standard. The Strat has Seymour Duncan SSL1s and the Peavey has Dragonfire Texas Blues single coils everything else is stock. I play a Marshall Mg100 head with 4x 12 cab, a Peavey Bandit 1x12 combo and a cheap Doner compressor pedal. I think I got it all used except for the Peavey (1st guitar I ever got in 1995) for around 2000 bucks. It all sounds fantastic. It’s cool to spend more if you like gear that costs more, but it isn’t required. It’s actually sort of anathema to my ideals concerning doom metal. It’s working class music, not something you need a Charvel custom shop guitar and vintage tube amp for. These sounds are not high fidelity. They aren’t supposed to be. Just my two cents.I love the channel
@swissarmyknight43069 ай бұрын
I'm getting a similar sound from a PRS SE 277 baritone, a RAT, a Strymon Deco (optional, used as a multitracker), a Wampler Superego compressor (50/50 blend, lots of compression but blended to simulate a driven tube amp at high volume) and a Roland Jazz Chorus (I sold all my other amps, using the chorus, again optional and not identical to Sunn). I'd use a giant cab if I was trying to piss off my neighbors. I guess I should try an octaver, cause it sure sounds great, probably the missing ingredient. Sunn is actually using some very expensive gear (those Sunn amps are pricey these days), so kinda in a way you're wrong about the genre, but but kinda in a way you're right about music in general, because most of the time in electric guitar music you don't really need expensive gear to get a great sound, you just need "good enough" tools and you need to know how to use the tools you have. Frankly, I don't think you really need fancy gear for any sound. If you aren't rich, just get workhorse gear. I'm 100% sure you could achieve this sound on a very small budget with modellers and know-how. Good guitar, good setup, good pickups, everything else is highly negotiable.
