@@earthdog9552 fair enough. I once had a “friend” argue with me over whether charcoal could be made from bamboo. I had some bamboo activated charcoal toothpaste and he was convinced that charcoal was a naturally occurring substance that you had to mine out of the ground. It turned into a heated debate, which I won, since charcoal is commonly made from wood. But he refused to believe that and wouldn’t look it up himself. Fun times.

Most activated charcoal is usually made from charred coconuts & occasionally from hardwood. &But to activate it, the charcoal is soaked in an acid, usually lemon juice. Commercial barbecue charcoal is usually saturated with chemicals like fire starter fluid. Dangerous & definitely not the same as activated charcoal. You can find activated charcoal at most heath food stores.

Good to keep activated charcoal on hand. It's useful for all sorts of stomach ailments after eating something questionable. Can also be made into a paste with small amount water and activated charcoal powder after a wasp or bee sting. Reduce pain to very tolerable levels within minutes of applying. Yerba Primo Bentonite clay liquid is another item to keep on hand for emergency use to help rid of toxic or questionable ingestion by humans and pets.

My vet told me that inducing vomiting with Peroxide can aspirate a lung, and potentially damage the dogs organs. I've also been told to never exceed 45ml regardless of the size of the dog. All that said I've had to use peroxide 3 times on my dog to induce vomiting (ate a jerky wrapper, chunks of a tennis ball, and compost, the consist i also used activated charcoal) Not saying it won't work, or that it should never be used but it should only be used when absolutely necessary, and people using this method should be aware of the risk involved.

Hi Dr. Jones. So good to see you today, and thanks for bringing us this important information on how to treat our dog of he or she eats something like that mushroom. I have a 10-month old Mini Pin and he loves to explore and try eating sticks, and some kind of black berry-looking things that fall from the trees here in Southern California. I try to keep him interested in chasing his ball and with searching out and eating treats. I launch the little treats in the air and they fall to the grass and then he goes around the yard trying to pick up the scent and then very quickly, his nose picks up the scent and he eats it right away. Have a wonderful day, Dr. Jones! 🐕😄👍🎉

Just found you! I am in desperate need of advice to help my cat. He stopped using the litter box and keeps peeing on a rug or bathtub. I just saw today in the tub that the urine was red which has to be blood. He’s had a UTI before I’m assuming it’s the same issue but it cost $600 to treat him last time because the infection was bad. I just don’t have it is there ANYTHING I can do especially since I believe to have caught it early

We have a 14 yr old cat who gets frequent UTIs, with bloody pee, she's in misery. And I've had them, peeing blood, too. Cranberry capsules is what we use. 2 opened and poured it on something stinky the cat likes, sardines for our cat. She eats it right up. We repeat with 1 capsule in a half hour, then again later. So far it's worked well. And if we remember to dose her every other day, she doesn't keep getting the infections. I don't put my doses on sardines, lol.

How synchronistic that you made this video today, as I was just asking my AI assistant what was best to induce vomiting in dogs yesterday. And it confirmed that hydrogen peroxide 3% was the first line of defense and activated charcoal could be used as a secondary line of defense. The hardest part for me was getting my 45lb Aussie to take another 5ml syringe of hydrogen peroxide after he tasted the first one. 😅 He also found an old tray of rodent poison at about 2am once. No idea how much he ate, if any. But better safe than sorry! So grateful that vitamin K is such an easy to obtain antidote, even at 2am when the vet is closed.

This has helped me, especially since I was medicating Benny (35 lb Schnauzer) with cannabis oil over the 4th and on his second dose of the day I dosed him with a 1/4 dropper full of IODINE by mistake, as I have tinctures 'all over the place'!!! I called animal poison hotline/ they wanted $95 just to talk with me, so I decided on my own to dose him with the cannabis in olive oil (to absorb???) as well as 4 nice chunks of stew meat...slow cooked (previously) and lean. He had no signs of stress, stool alittle loose but formed, no vomiting, slept well, no personality changes...lovable and happy. HYDROGEN PEROXIDE AND CHARCOAL: GOT IT!!! Sorry, I'm in nursing school and we do triple checks, so it's prob best to measure it ahead of time and keep it written down or in your phone (your dog probably won't change weight over a short time unless it's a puppy). This way you have time to make sure you measured correctly, as well as have time to do mock treatments.

I got tired of constantly yelling "dont eat that" at my dogs, so i made em "heifer hoods" 😊 designed after the "fox hood", but those are expensive and i have 4 dogs so i made some myself. Theyre breathable mesh, attach to their harnesses so they cant take em off and they can still drink water and play fetch with em on. Its been sooooo much less stressful to let em hang out in our yard with acorns and mushrooms, and walk em in parks where nasty people leave food trash behind, and where wildlife leave behind carcas remnants.

Thanks doc ❤. As i am watching my stomach is in knots. We lost two of our beloved dogs to what we presume was agricultural chemical poisoning. It was so sudden. They came to us in a state of near collapse salivating goo. They were gone in minutes 😢. Here in rural Egypt farming area sometimes bad people put out old carcasses with chemicals. Maybe to kill wild dogs. Sometimes to deliberately target dogs they don't like. Its horrible 😭. We consulted a farm vetinarian who suggested atropine injection and it worked within ten minutes on another dog. One of my beloved pooches survived. She was nursing pups and loves fresh Buffalo milk. I had given her some shortly prior. I stayed up with her to the early hours in the barn where she lay on a pile of hay and she pulled through. Unfortunately around half of her pups died. So i live in anxiety about them eating stuff around here. I pray for their safety every day and make sure they have regular good food. However dogs love finding dead stuff as we know 😅. I will see if i can get some hydrogen peroxide and we have activated charcoal 👍
