This was very informative. In 1970 my husband bought from a breeder in England an Afghan for me and had it shipped to Canada, when a puppy. She was the same colour as your two. He too was aloof and we would not dare leave reading glasses or socks around the house because they were nice play toys apparently. She was aloof, but very protective of our home. My dogs was called Lady Seekapetra Belle when born and I named her TIffany. I used to enter her in dog shows here. She lived to be 15 years old and then developed hind leg problems, but all the other years she was very healthy. In Canada where I live they are so rare. You make me want another one.

Loved this video! My sweet Afghan, Arielle, lived to be just over 16, and was the best dog ever... hope to have another someday.

Thank you Lesley for a most informative interview! My boy, Donovan (facebook.com/Kingdonovan2/) demonstrates many of the traits you talk about. We recently repatriated back to the U.K. from Los Angeles, where he loves the open spaces, running freely and enjoying his doggie friends on our many walks in the country.

We live on a 4 acre property in Cornwall UK, so they would have plenty of space for exercise. But we cant find breeders anywhere here in England! We are now thinking about importing one or two (from different breeders) from the US instead?

They are all over Europe and Britain too. Get on the Afghan pages on Facebook. You will find Afghan breeders or rescue. facebook.com/search/top/?q=afghan%20hound%20no%20drama%20club&epa=SEARCH_BOX
