Back to my favorite breed . He is now 1 year old and I am 80. Never too old for the best dog in the world. He leaps for joy. Like a giselle.

At 79 years, have gone back to my very favorite breed..the cao d agua. While formerly we raised our pwds on our boat...this is first time raising one on land. A new challenge. Your video was an encouragement for my decision. They do have a sense of humour too. And love to work with you in garden

Jocelyn, my PWD had a double coat in winter. He's probably pedigree & was given away at 2 years. He's now roughly 16 years young so doesn't like to swim because he's not so stable on his back legs (hip dysplasia). Is it possible for them to get a winter undercoat which is soft and down-like

I am trying to decide between a PWD, standard poodle and miniature poodle. I grew up with a cockapoo I adored. I will likely be living alone, and expect to have a house by next year. 2 walks of several miles a day sounds like a lot for my liking, and I'll be working full time so won't have a lot of time, so maybe the miniature poodle would be best after all? What do you think?

My old Labrador I had been offered very large sums of money for. I was at a local summer fete, taking pictures for a certain newspaper. I left my lab sitting in the shade. Knowing he would never move. One of the dog show ladies came over to me and said your dog is perfect and incredibly handsome I have not seen a dog that beautiful before. Why don't you enter him in the show and the training he has is no doubt excellent . He has not moved since you left . He would win all the prizes " I was polite and explained my dog was my friend. And I would not subject him to a human showing off of an animal. As though by this the human was showing its superiority. This dog is a near perfect example of a dog and natural and he is incredibly well behaved and intelligent. His training was minimal and he knows how to behave. Its a question of friendship and dog psychology. I need only go into a pub and look at a table and he will walk to that table and lie down under it. How people ask. Its love, trust and friendship . The dog watches my face as all dogs do. No I would not subject him to such a silly ego human event. He has his pride and I would rather he retained his integrity and honour as a dog not a toy for people to play with and teach silly tricks to. How should a dog be perfect ? depends on the dog, not some invented human rules. Sorry " I turned to Soloman, ' solly ' and we set off for the nearby hostelry.Together as friends do in mutual respect.Not master and animal.

Wow this is exactly the type relationship I had with my standard poodle runt Beau. Such an amazing friend and companion. I never disciplined him like I saw other people do to their dogs. We had such mutual respect for each other. I loved that he felt comfortable enough to wake me up in the morning. He knew exactly how I was feeling and was extra attentive when I had a hard day at work. We were there for each other and I loved every minute we spent together, he made me laugh everyday. Having a friend like Beau made me a better human.

Can you recommend a reputable breeder in the US? Not interested in showing, just as a pet.
