There's almost a complaining tone: "He's so needy'." I know dogs can read us far better than we can read them, and the dog knows the owner needs for him/her to seek affection and company. It's definitely not a one way transaction.

He was found alone. Sounds like he was abandoned and doesn’t want that to happen to him again. He makes sure his mom doesn’t go out of sight for fear she, too, might leave him. Poor thing. He’s beautiful and so loving. No bad Pits, just bad owners. They can be some of the most affectionate and doting dogs on the planet. She is so lucky to have him and he is so lucky to have her. You can tell that he is sooo happy and content to live in a dog-filled house-playmates galore!!

I wish that was true. A friend of my family had a pit bull that he loved like his own child. The dog was always very sweet but then one day it just snapped and attacked. They had to put him down. Its so sad because I've always wanted a pit bull and now I'm scared to own one.

I have to say that I was a pit bull hater several years ago. I am ashamed of myself for that. I never really took the time to get to know the dog. Then I met Ubo. A friends pit bull lab mix. OMG what a loveable goofball. Then my friend got his sister a pit bull puppy named Diamond. While Ubo was the tall type of pity, Diamond was the short, stocky kind. Then my son came home with one of Ubos pups. OMG. I love this girl so much. She is so spoiled. We have hamburgers for supper. She has hamburgers for supper. We have chicken, steak or anything else she has the same thing. I think everyone who thinks pitbulls are bad should really get to know them. Bella my sons pitbull is the best dog we have EVER had. Even better then my chihuahua and miniature pincher mix. Who I will say has bitten someone. In fact I would trust Bella with my grandkids before I would trust Puggsley with them. Sorry this is so long, but I feel very strongly about letting people know that it's not the dog that's bad it's the person who made them do bad things that should be outlawed.

I rescued my Pit (May she R.I.P.) after she made a full recovery at the pound from major malnutrition, and minor surgery. When the pound guy found he roaming, it was the middle of winter. The pound guy thinks someone used her to breed and let her loose, because she had given birth only a few months prior. She was freezing, filthy, and so hungry/malnourished that she was chewing on rocks. Hence why I named her “Roxy”. She turned out to be the sweetest, most loving dog I have ever seen, and she was my best friend. Alls she wanted to do was cuddle at all times. Ironically, it was her that saved me through a few very dark years. Towards the end of her life, when she started suffering from seizures and other maladies, it was extremely difficult to see her in such rough shape, for a dog who would go to the baseball field and non-stop sprinting chase tennis ball after tennis ball thrown as far as I physically could in all directions for hours. Her passing is one of the saddest times of my life. It was like losing my own daughter. I dont know if i will ever get a dog again. I am so happy that Bluto found his soulmama:)

I adopted a year old Shepard mix who's first owners chained her up outside AFTER she got big and bouncy in thier small house. She spent a few months chained outside. She was so happy to move in with someone who treated her right again she jumped a 6 ft in fence in panicked desperation to stay with me when I left her behind to work in the front yard. Poor thing...Most loyal and obedient dog I ever had.

One of our rescue Pitties is just like this Remy never leaves my side when I am home. She jumps up in beds to tell me good night and then in the morning jumps up to tell me good morning.

We found a Chocolate Lab/Pit running along a highway during a bad snowstorm. We called to him and he jumped into our truck. Couldn't find his people so we kept him. We then got an 8 week old English Pointer/Boxer female puppy. Meanwhile, a friend found a 6-7 week old Doberman/Irish Wolfhound male puppy and brought him to us. The Pit and Pointer had 8 puppies and we kept a female from that litter. The Dobey and female we kept had 7 puppies a few years later. The morning Sassy started weaning her pups, she got loose. Found her dead on the highway close to the house. We have two females from that litter. The girls are so attached to me like Bluto is to you. If I'm outside with the other dogs, they run through the house going from window to window crying. At night, they have to be under the covers touching me. In fact, one of them is laying against me while I'm sitting on the bed typing this! They are all fixed so no more puppies!! I love all five, Grandpa, Grandma, Daddy, and the two girls. They can be a handful but spoiled rotten!

roastpork4 exactly! Every generation has had a particular dog breed villianized: Doberman’s, German shepherds, Rottweilers, and now it’s pitbulls. I specifically adopted two rescue pitbulls just to prove people wrong, and they are the sweetest, most amazing ambassadors for their breed! I’m so proud of them, take so much pride in how wonderful they are and just love them to pieces!

I rescue pit bulls too and work in breed outreach and education programs. Things have improved dramatically in recent years thanks to social media and somewhat more responsible ownership (and a slightly more focused pursuit of dogfighting operations, with much more rigorous enforcement in some parts of the country than others, ahem looking at you deep south). My “foster failure” to forever girl Princess is an awesome breed ambassador since she’s a goodly, gentle, affectionate sweetheart. Who’s scared of my cat. She’s 65lbs of solid muscle and the 14 lb senior cat terrifies her and likes to tree her in corners or trap her under a bed for fun. Not exactly the ferocious, aggressive killer of media horror stories. There are no bad breeds, just bad owners.

I was just watching another animal channel, and a man in Texas surrendered his dog Jubilee because he said she was too loyal and clingy, and did not ever leave his side! I'm gonna come here to my beloved Dodo channel, and I see this lovely lady drive 12 hours to adopt a pitbull that have been a stray, and welcomed him into her home... and I can understand why he is so clingy and does not want to leave HER side. Everybody who had ever adopted a rescue dog will tell you that the gratitude the dog has and the awareness the dog has of being in a forever home is never taken for granted by the dog! And as I've said before, and I shall say again, it is so wonderfully enriching to have a dog or cat in one's life. For those who do not have a dog or a cat, I would highly recommend that they get one-or two! But I doubt that people who don't have pets would even bother watching animal channels... Thank you so much for being here for us all, Dodo, and I wish everybody here a merry Christmas season, and a wonderful 2018, full of love and as the year 2018 progresses, that we may all grow in our ability to love, be responsible, and become more mature! I rescued a dog from the grounds of an empty women’s prison . We were shooting a film and the sheriff told me she’s dig a hole in the side of a hill for shelter and film crews would leave food for her - he’s try to get by and fired her when no one was filming but was worried she wouldn’t make it much longer . It took a couple hours and several sausages but we finally lassoes her and I brought her home . She never left my side : Couldn’t close a door on her or she’s chew her way out . As long as she wasn’t contained and she could be with me - well, her world revolves around me. She lived 11 years with me after I brought her home . She was the best ! Glad you saved your pittie ! Rescued dogs never forget .🌸

This is the same for me and Baxter, my blind pittie. I too saw his pic online and had to meet him. His story his face!! A dopey cutie just like Bluto. We call him our cuddly bulldozer. He was chained up and abandoned and lost his 8 front teeth trying to chew the chain off. so his tongue hangs out a lot and he always has to be touching me! My goofy velcro boy!

Bless you for saving Baxter. My pit Cooper was a velcro dog who would always escape the house in search of his owner. After 6 yrs of getting picked up as a stray by animal control and having to pay fines, his owner dumped him in a local kill-shelter where unneutered and middle-aged he had no chance of being adopted. I learned about him when a friend in Alamogordo NM sent me his photo and I flew him out to NYC. Cooper is still a velcro dog and I love it.
