Tip when female is in heat: Separate the male and the female as much as possible. If you have friends or family that know the dog, then have them petsit the dog. If you can afford it, put the male in boarding. If you don't live alone, have another housemate watch the male dog while you care for the female (or vise versa).

As someone that takes the time to understand dog breeding, I would like to ask what are your purposes for mixing two different breed dogs? Did someone ask you for a specific reason or did you need them for a specific reason? If so, and you are dedicated to handle whatever may come, then fine. I hope those dogs are in good health because if not you create more dogs with heightened problems or new problems. That's where good breeders get bad reps. Coming from someone that has experienced eukanuba judging, learned from other breeders and has seen what the right thing to do is. Sacrificing your own wants for the betterment of the breeds. Meaning "just because the dog is nice looking does not make it right." That's something I've learned from others. When you put a public video like this, you ask for peoples thoughts. I see there are people that don't mind this. It's because their brains are lacking in information about rightful and devoted dog breeding. I found out last week that there is actually someone at my work that breeds the same two breeds for some reason. He's had to lose them early in life, 5 years at the most due to consistent deterioration in the rear bone structure and or getting some form of cancers. He said he hasn't had any success on being able to dodge it. He could have unhealthy dogs though. I don't know him that well.

This is one of the biggest reasons I only keep females as a family pet, I get my dog spayed by about 14 months. As a Professional dog trainer I can tell you it is much more difficult training a male dog intact they want to mark every spot they come across.....It's like taking a 16 year old boy to a Cheerleading competition.....lol.

Of course she will still grow. Coming into heat don't stop growth. Most dogs will continue to grow and fill out till about 2. Some dogs take a little longer. The Tibetan mastiff for example.

You're acting like he actually let them mate 🤦‍♀ The doberman, as well as many other dogs in heat, have no problem showing that they are uninterested. And when they are interested, it happens. Dogs, cats, or even other animals in heat don't consider that they are "too young", or "too small" to mate/give birth. That is human thinking. If they want to get pregnant during their first heat cycle, they can and will try to. It may not be the BEST time for a female dog to do that, but if there's no one around to prevent it from happening, then nothing is going to stop her from getting the job done. I'd think the Dobie is on a chain so she doesn't go outside where other dogs might smell her and try to mess with her. I'm not going to sit here and automatically assume that this guy, who obviously takes very good care of his dogs, had the worst intentions when he filmed this video. All we see is a small clip, so obviously we can't make any assumptions about what he did and didn't allow except for what we see. If you really want to know what negative human intervention is, some inhumane breeders will tie down female dogs around their waist against something tight enough that they can't move or otherwise defend themselves when another dog approaches or tries to mount. That is a very stressful situation for female dogs. That differs greatly from this guy simply having his Dobie on a standard leash, where she's free to snap, nip, and turn away if she wants to 🙄
