Dog helps Michigan police rescue owner from icy lake

Michigan State Police officer Kammeron Bennetts wasn’t able to get close enough to rescue a 65-year-old man who had fallen into a frozen lake but was able to coax the man’s dog Ruby to carry a rescue disc to him. With the dog’s help, the man was pulled to safety. WPBN’s Marc Shollet reports.

I used to know a guy who owned 5 Brittanys, and he would take them for a "walk" to burn off excess energy by clipping them all into a harness setup he'd built on the front of his ATV, putting it in neutral, and letting them pull him down the road. 😅 I grew up with them too (though never 5 at once!) and they're great dogs

My grandfather was an officer trained in icewater rescue AND recovery in Crawford County and went beyond when needed. So glad this man was able to be rescued instead of having to be recovered. It may be cold here, but our lakes haven't had adequate time to freeze to be out on them safely.

I had a brit, mine was liver and white. We went hiking and I lost track of him. I kept hiking thinking he would meet up with me. He never did. I went back to my car to find a ranger car and my dog in it. Seamus, my dog kept running to the woods and back out, another half hour they were going to send some people looking for me thinking I was injured. I love these pups.
