Coyotes are pack hunters and their very smart. They have higher endurance then most dogs as they run in the wild 24/7. Coyotes will kill animals much larger then a large dog (60 to 100 lbs). These Coyotes were attempting to do 2 things, get the dog to follow chase and exhaust it, so they could then kill it and or get the dog to follow in back to where its pack is waiting and then they'll kill them. Coyotes are beautiful animals and deserve to live just as all creatures, however they populate quickly and have virtually no natural enemies. They kill off an area very fast thus their population need to be managed or you will soon find you pet cat and dog missing. And when a coyote has your pet dog or cat in it's jaws, no amount of chasing it will make it drop it. It a sad thing for your kids to watch as their pet is taken.

The coyote was trying to make friends with your dog by keeping calling him, but he never expected what your dog was about to do on him. Nice shot, but sad ending. I hope this type of thing will never happen in human world.

+Haiying Li the coyote hates dogs so it is trying to run it out of its home territory. Coyotes are territorial and protective over there turf. The dog is used to lure it close for a clean shot.

Bill the reason I wait is because a big part of the time when your calling and especially if a coyote gets vocal other coyotes will come in as well, that gives me the opportunity to kill multiple coyotes. Patients is your friend when using decoy dogs. Sorry you feel this way.

David Drane the object is to wait as long as you can. When the coyotes get vocal like these have, many times other coyotes show up and you will get the opportunity to kill multiple coyotes. There actually is a strategy in what I do. Patience.
