They remember. Especially if they had a traumatic moment, or a moment where they were severely afraid or upset there. Same can be said for the groomers too if your pet doesn’t like it there. Think of it like how little kids may not like going to the doctor or dentist’s office. They WILL remember when you either pull into the parking lot or walk into the building.

I think dogs can sense the trauma that happens at the vet. Ive had many dogs over the years amd its always elicited a strong fear and resistance. Ive also been fortunate that all.the vets ive had care for.my animals were truly big hearted and loved caring for and treating creatures. By the time the vet tech or vet encountered our pets they were always soothing gentle and friendly and that really helped.❤

Dogs start to associate words to their meanings like a human baby. If you switch no's and yesses like if your dogs says something bad and you say YES, and vice versa to no, it will learn it backwards.

I literally had the same experience with my mom taking me to the clinic for immunizations before pre-k. She told me we were going somewhere else, then we pulled up to the clinic. I told her I would stay in the car and she told me that we were going there for her and not me and I believed her. She took me for ice cream afterwards. Poor dog. My daughter worked for a local vet. When our white German Shepherd was a puppy my daughter would take her to visit there. So she got to know the vets & staff. She was always happy to go even for her check-ups. She was the only German Shepherd that didn't receive a sticker indicating "might bite" or "will bite".

This made me laugh. What a cutie. What's even funnier for me is my golden absolutely loved the vet. She would have been ecstatic pulling into the parking lot. She was overjoyed and wanted to meet and greet everyone once inside. I had a hard time convincing the vet she did indeed have signs of not feeling well before I got there.
