@@DrSueCancerVet any update on Lomustine vs Tonovea for a T cel pup? Ours is stage 5 T cel. Mastiff. Looking to prolong life. Oncologist gave him a Elspar and wants to start Lomustine single agent next tuesday. Thoughts?

My dog had B-cell Lymphoma and was on the CHOP protocol. After it ended the Vet Oncologist put him on CCNU (Lomustine) and it really didn't help him any. All it did was suppress his immune system and make him sick with pneumonia. In the three weeks after the last Lomustine injection his lymph nodes swelled up very large as the cancer wasn't being kept in check. He lived about 6 months from the beginning of CHOP through the Lomustine.

Thank you so much. Useful VDO I am veterinarian but not oncologist and now my dog find lymphoma (wait for biopsy result). Your VDO make me easy to decide COP or CHOP protocol. Thank you again😊

Found part 2 - thank you :) Sharing this site with every pet owner and vet I know. Supplements such as Salmon oil for those with lymphoma seems to be a huge hit now when on CHOP - your thoughts?

Thank you so much for your videos on Lymphoma - our dog was recently diagnosed and we’re going to an Oncologist tomorrow. Unfortunately our vet already started Pred so I’m pretty bummed about that. :(

Nothing is a guarantee! I think I mentioned Lola who was on pred for weeks and her 1st remission was over 4 years. I am sorry you are dealing with all this. Check you the lymphoma and chemo playlists and I recommend vlogs 76 and 77 before tomorrow. And please subscribe. Sending hugs and #KickCancersButt xo

I have been trying to get approved for care credit and now his neck is swollen :( I feel bad because they have just been telling me more surgery is the option yet now it looks like chemo... UGH so much time gone... wish us luck hopefully we will be 7 more years in the making!

Thank you so much for your videos. They are so informative especially for someone like me who is living abroad and does not have access to the same veterinary care. I am waiting for my dog’s diagnosis for possible lymphoma and it will apparently take a week to get back. This seems like forever especially when he may only have weeks left to live. Can I ask if age is a factor in how well dogs cope with treatment and remission time? My fur baby is 13 and he’s been healthy until recently.

Im watching this video and thinking how crazy the difference in recommendations can be from one vet or specialist to the next. When I spoke to my dog's oncologist she stated that it was ok to be on pred for a week or two before starting chemo. I ended up having my dog on pred for a week before starting the COP protocol as he has a heart condition (MVR).

My toy poodle was diagnosed with lymphoma recently and I agreed to the 26 week CHOP protocol, I am beyond stressed and anxious because I have a 1 year old that I still breastfeed. I’ve been told 24-48 hours after treatment to take precaution but I’m confused on exactly how long and is saliva something to avoid?

Do you often administer Tanovea as a single agent protocol or usually alternate with doxorubicin? I have spoken with a few oncologists and one has suggested single age doxorubicin and the other single agent Tanovea. Trying to make a decision so we can start this week. Thank you!

My 3 year old pocket pitbull just got diagnosed with B cell lymphoma she started to lose her appetite and she started to limp vet started her on prednisone yesterday and she greatly improved almost back to normal but I can’t afford to do the chop protocol because of cost and it being the holiday season it makes things even harder my vet recommended adding L-SPAR with the prednisone? Have you seen this combination and what do you think the remission time that is ?

My dog (with T- cell lymphoma) is on the LOPP protocol (vincristine, Lomustine, Predisone and procarbazine) started 6th cycle already, however I see that the liver results are high (ALT more than 3k) and I was just thinking of get rid of this protocol procarbazine (16mg. pill every day). What is your opinion on that? As I would like to his liver to regenerate. Plus when would you start reduce the steroids (as he still taking 5mg. through the whole chemotherapy)? thank you :)

My dog was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia. He has his first appointment with an oncologist in two days… Our vet started him on Predisone about 3 weeks ago. Why would my vet start him on it if they knew we were waiting for his oncologist appointment? I’m so confused. 😩

Do you give your dogs Elspar with Lomustine or can I just do Lomustine? Chop not working. Pros and con? any info will help thanks so much

In general they can be administered together but obviously will depend on the case. Best to consult directly with an oncologist or your veterinarian.

We just found out our dog has elevated Lymphocytes and we are on a month long vacation in Nc. So we are going to drive to FL and end the trip early to see about chemo in FL. These people at the ER took some biopsies during a ultrasound but they won’t be back for a couple days. Would you recommend something in the meantime? The doc says he thinks it’s likely stage 3-4 since our dog has really just gotten very tired and sleeps all day. He is 7.5 mastiff. Thoughts Dr Sue? We feel helpless.

What if the lymphoma is already in your dogs liver and spleen? Can we still do chemo? And she has been on steroids for about 3 weeks 😢
@DrSueCancerVet
@DrSueCancerVet Жыл бұрын
Yes it is often in the liver and spleen so that does not concern me. The steroids may affect chemo efficacy but I have had some cases where the dogs still had great durable responses. 🙏🏼💙

Hi sue, thank you very much for your series of videos on Lymphoma. My 14-year-old border collie was diagnosed with T-cell Lymphoma of the skin and a bad(rapid) one. You mentioned COP with Lomustine is the best way to treat it but no Japanese doctors know about such ay of chemotherapy and said never heard of that. They insist on using lomustine solely. ( I live in Japan) but I am afraid that side effect is too strong.I am at a loss. Probably your method and optimism is only for multicenter Lymphoma and not for skin Lymphoma. So maybe my case has much less possibility to reach remission. Am I right? My dog is fine except for Lymphoma.
