I agree 💯 percent.. Same crap where I live.. large breed untrained dogs off leash all the time..

I have to agree with the walking and stimulation. I take my dog in a nearby park. I use a permitted golf cart. The park is vacant this time of year. There are times that I run my dog a few miles in spurts. But a total of about three miles. He is an American Bulldog 1 year old. His stamina is awesome. We built up to this. But my point is sometimes I take him and just mosey along and let him root in the woodside and sniff for an hour or so. Or just let him ride with me and see the sites. It’s obvious to me that he is just as settled at night either way. He is super reliable off leash and has great recall even under distraction. But sniff days and run days both have redeeming qualities.

I had a Siberian Husky that my husband was walking him on our property. However, they were outside our fence at our mailbox. An Akita ran across the road and attacjed my Husky. Police separated them. My dog needed ACL surgery at University of Pa. She refused to pay for it. Police forced her to pay the bill.

Because of numerous issues I’ve had with bully breeds in SoCal being off leash and owners ignoring leash laws and Animal Services not wanting to do THEIR job, I carry a tazer, an loud air spray and I’m now wearing a camera on my vest so I can capture the incident. We also have very aggressive coyotes now that I’m dealing with.

for me its not only off leash dogs i deal with but parents who think its ok for their kids to go near my dog and random people who think the terrified 30lb dog barking at them is cute and wants to be petted. oh and then there are street and free roaming pet dogs. i usually carry dog food for any off leash dog and scatter it then walk away. i do carry a stick but i find i rarely need it since my method of having me and my dog stop and look at the dog (a surprising amount will back off) periodically as we either turn away or walk by like we own the place (many will eventually turn away and go back) carry a second leash just in case and in an emergency use your stick (not stun gun) as a break stick and wedge it between the biting dogs mouth and thing its biting to get it to release. ive never had to do that thank god as most just get scared away by me yelling at them.

If I see there's going to be a problem I yell We've got kennel cough (or parvo), call back your dog! It seems to have the effect...they get their dogs pretty quick!

It's a headache. I have a malinois who is not reactive and well trained does not bother another dog at all only cares about working for the ball, but the dog has their limits and several times in past 2 weeks alone I've had out of control french bulldogs, hyperactive retriever labs and offleash fearful dogs come charging up, on one occasion it was dark and I couldn't get there in time for the lab who ended up getting pinned (no damage done). I have to be on constant lookout with 360 vision. I'm just shouting at the charging dog now, and if owner says anything I just say it's better I deal with this than my dog because you're doing nothing all the way over there

What works for me is that as soon as another dog notices my dog and heads in our direction, I politely but firmly shout at the owner „sorry we are training here.“ i also have the „in training“ patch on my dog‘s collar. It usually works very well, and since handler focus instead of interacting with every other dog is training, I am not even lying. If the owners have a recall they will recall their dog immediately. If they cannot recall their dog they are usually embarrassed and don’t even try to argue.

I’ve seen some off leash dogs that are better trained than leashed dogs. If I see an off leash dog under control that doesn’t bother me one bit. I do have a friend who is one of those.. they’re friendly people And I’ve tried to tell her that’s great, but you don’t know their dog or this person Not everyone is happy with a random dog running up to them And if a fight starts it’s your fault

Of course, than there's no problems 😉 And when their onleash it does'nt matter how well trained they are 😉 but off leash dogs they wanna attack my dog 😤 one i could with shouting send him away, anouther came chilled to my leash dog sniffling, but mine did'nt like and boom ... don't let dogs off leash if you don't have them surely under control 🤷‍♂️
