Hi Brian, it needs to be manufactured in the UK for no customs charges, so you should be good to order from Arrow, 88 films, 101 films or any other UK film distributor.

Great choice of words. A lot of jaw droppings. You're in the werewolf mood. But oh my god. You always show me the movies I didn't know I wanted. Now I want this one too. But again my only minor nitpick, I once again think that a steelbook would make the Second Sight boxes perfect. This would be a great artwork for a steelbook. I don't digg the simple digipacks all that much. But it's just a minor nitpick. Bizarre that this is a 4K vs 4K. The Koch films master looks like a overbrightened standard Blu-ray edition. Once again a great unboxing video. I've got a limited alternate gatefold cover release of this on DVD that I bought when the film came out. I absolutely adore this movie but it's obviously quite grainy (not that I minded at all considering how it was shot) and I was hesitant to upgrade but your video convinced me to and I'm so glad I did! Absolutely superb conversion and considering three quarters of the film is set at night, the detail is fantastic! So thanks for your video and as ever, keep 'em coming!

Hey Lee. Like I said in the video I wasn't going to tell people to temper their expectations because this movie was shot on 16mm. I honestly thought it looked remarkable. Everything about it was amazing right down to the fine detail to the Dolby vision colours. Like you said most of this movie is held at night and I found that the movie still held up so well. A lot of folks seems to underestimate the Maximum resolution/grain density of a " Origami Film Negatives" and the 16mm format. If done correctly you can squeeze out around a 4.2K scan from a 16mm Film ( if you're willing to give up some grain density and increased artifacts). Plus when you step up to 35mm you can easily make a 8K transfer. With the King of all films-- the 70MM, able to reach a 15K transfer. Edit: But again this all comes with a few pros and cons but far better than anything Digital could produce. Great review as always,buddy. And I'm hoping to pick this up on Sunday.

Hey Kaegan. I have to admit reading this comments was very interesting. The only problem like you said is if they increased artifacts you know exactly how people feel about that when it comes to 4K and as soon as they see them the transfer gets torn apart. That's why I said in this video that I was not going to tell anyone to temper there Expectations because it was shot on 16mm because honestly if it's done right like you said these movies can look as good as any other 35mm movie out there. It seems to be in a go to excuse on 4K at the moment when it comes to 16mm. When you look at the likes of Maniac and Evil Dead and how great they do look on 4k and both of them were shot in 16mm because I thought they were done right compared to other releases that were shot on 16mm. And really it comes down to what tools, resources, and budget a Restoration team have which makes the biggest outcome for a 4K transfer. Not to mention if they choose to mess with the tone mapping/color timing. I'm sure you seen your fair share of Bad 35mm transfers and some outstanding 16mm. As long as an Original Negative is still around and the Team take their time any Film can be brought into breath taking 4K and make you feel like you're watching it for the first time again. I know that's how it felt when I watched "Django, Prepare a Coffin" 4K edition. Plus I dare to say it's in the Top 10 Transfer of all time.

I've heard about the transfer of Django and I've never seen the movie before but I'm considering picking up the 4K release just to see this movie. The one real positive thing I can say about the 4K format is when you do get a bad 4K transfer it's never a complete disaster if you know what I mean. I remember on Blu-ray when you got a really bad transfer it just looks horrible and it's Borderline unwatchable where 4k 9 out of 10 times the 4K transfers will look somewhat decent even if they are poor transfers if that makes any sense.

@@millerman9991 Yeah, I know what you mean. Bad Blu Ray transfers are dark, muddy, and look like a blown up DVD Rip. While a Bad 4K transfer appear over sharpened, out of sync, and moving Oil Painting. But still watch able. And I'm sure you will Love the Django transfer & the film it's self.

I did watch a video on the channel In Search Of Physical Media where he had some great screen shot comparisons from the shout factory BD and the Paramount BD. I thought the 4K looked stunning. These are proper captured screen grabs using some software on his computer. We Ll have different tastes regarding pictuer and of course different set ups so we'll never all see the same pictuer. I've heard that if you turn off the Dolby vision, it gives you a much better picture. Haven't tried it yet as my Panasonic 4k player is on the blink at the moment, it's still under guarantee so it should be exchanged 🤞

Hey Keith my friend, Second Sight are such a reliable boutique. They always do amazing work. I'm so glad you don't have to pay import charges when you order directly from Second Sight. This video is great as the comparison between two different transfers just show how good the new 4K looks. When you get your package, if I were you, I'd open it from the side on one of the ends. Cut the tape and either end will poll out. The reason for this is that the signature item is on top so I'd hate you to damage it. I've also sent you a little note.

So Ken, I’ve got an interesting Zavvi story for you… I ordered Event Horizon 4K special edition with the steelbook and slip case, etc. I’ve been generally lucky with them but this one arrived damaged with a huge crease down the side of the box, clearly packed that way as the outer cardboard box was fine. I contacted them, few back and forth’s then said I’m not happy about their return policy and having to send it back at my cost, etc. Next thing I know they’ve refunded me the full £39.99 and told me I can keep it.

I am so sorry to hear that about your event Horizon because it is a lovely release and thankfully it did have a somewhat happy ending. They never done that with me I can tell you. I had four damaged items in a row from them and they either offered me 10% off or I had to send it back. But I made sure they covered the cost of sending it back. What do you think you're going to do with the edition are you going to stick with it and just live with the damage or are you going to try and sell it and reorder it again.

@@millerman9991 that’s rough! I only ever order from them if I can’t get an item elsewhere. My previous experience wasn’t great. They advertised the full Beavis and Butthead series as a blu ray box set but sent a dvd one. I sent it back but they claimed it never arrived so I was down £30 on the dvd, £5 postage and well, the item. For Event horizon, I’ve laid it flat on the creased side and balanced a heavy hardback book on it. Crease is still slightly visible but it’s now flat at least. It’ll always bug me though 😂

It would be great to see a nice deluxe edition of The Descent. I'm not quite sure if it would make sense bringing it out in 4k because as you know it's a very dark looking movie and not sure if it could massively benefit from 4k. Great to see you get it release day Keith aswell, you must be still shocked aha. And that excellent packaging in the box with zero chance of any damage. I just love dog soldiers and its always one of my favourite horrors. Never forget finding this gem randomly back in 2002, knew all the actors from uk/irl TV and the banter is so good. Sean pertwee and Liam Cunningham (ser davos) 😆 And you're right great effects for the budget and funny story about the England v Germany game. That picture difference, especially in that scene with the helicopter wow and the art well what more needs to be said, some of the best I ever seen. Gonna be a great rewatch for sure. So Keith according to a Brexit deal, anything manufactured in the UK won't have customs/import here, and you'll notice on your package it says country of manufacture is UK. The same should apply for Arrow UK site, 88 films site and 101 films site, So for example if you remember Arrow doing those site exclusives Dario Argento covers on their limited editions, you should have no issue to order one if you wanted it. And same for 88 and 101 if they have some great sale on.

There packaging was fantastic as well and completely secure. No issues whatsoever and it's great to get that peace of mind knowing that I can buy from them and not have to worry about missing out on these fantastic editions. Just finished watching Dog Soldiers with the commentary on, I didn't know Jason Statham bailed on this project to do Ghost Of Mars, and Simon Peg opted out to do Shawn of the Dead, great info, amazing what you can learn.

This is the best werewolf movie since American Werewolf in London, Darren Morfitt was awesome in this film, and as always Sean Pertwee. My favourite line, "I hope I give you the shits". Classic. Great review Keith, do you know why we haven't had a sequel yet, it's long over due. Great artwork on the box. I've got to tell you, my favourite scene is the tattoo story, the way Sean Pertwee told that was oscar winning.

Hey Gary. I love that line in the movie and spoony is probably my favourite character in the movie. Sean Pertwee as per usual incredible in this movie and he's so unbelievably underrated. As for the movie itself like you said probably one of the best werewolf movies since American Werewolf and to see it gets this new coat of paint from this new 4K transfer is something truly jaw-dropping. My copy is shipped to Germany. The mediabook by Koch Films Germany is a nice one to have, but with an awful transfer which is far away from being called "4K"! 😂

I was a bit hesitant to put down 4K vs 4K because like you said the German edition I wouldn't really call a 4K release in all fairness. Second sight have knocked it out the park again and I really hope you enjoy the new 4K transfer. I know you will after seeing that horrible Koch Films release of it

Yeah, the source material is a pinch on the rough side, but the transfer is good. We have the Shout Factory release here in the US but it's the same version that you have in Europe. I found the audio was good but is around 8db lower than my normal listening volume. If you like your raw-looking movies, and werewolves, yeah, pretty good stuff. I laughed so hard when he said I love it when a posh girl talks dirty! I said to my brother, she's posh? I have no idea what they've been smoking if she's posh. Hahaha.

Hey Carl. There's no denying that this is by far the best the movie is ever looked and great to hear that it's the same transfer as the scream factory release. I honestly thought second sight remastered this themselves. The audio was always going to be a little on the lacking side but look that's down to source material but for the most part I thought it sounded great. I have to laugh when you left that comment about I love when a posh girl talks dirty because I thought the exact same thing when I was watching this movie. I had the exact same issue over here in Ireland when buying from second sight. But I think second sight have changed their policies and I don't think you have to worry about custom charges anymore. I didn't get a customs charge today when I got this and maybe it's worth looking into to because second sight do bring out some of the best releases you will see out there.

Hi Nikolaj, I found out that anything now manufactured in the UK has no import/customs to the EU, its only items not manufactured in the UK and sold from the UK.

Apparently the scream factory 4K edition has used the exact same transfer on this edition and it was Second Sight that done the restoration.

@@millerman9991 sometimes even if it's the same scan, a company might compress it down/use a lower bitrate and it won't look as good. I see the Scream Factory 4k disc is only a 66 gb disc and that has me worried. I don't know if the second sight disc is 100gb or not. May also be due to how the special features are devided between the discs

I honestly don't know what the second sight disc is when it comes to GB. I was told by a few people that it is the same transfer and I'm basing that off a couple of videos that I've seen as well. I really must look into it myself

@@millerman9991 You're right, Scream are using the Second Sight transfer, so it could look the same, but like the guy above was saying, Second Sight have a better track record with encoding than Scream do. I just read somewhere that there's an audio clitch on the Scream Disc but I'm not sure the extent of it or if it's going to require a disc replacement program, so anyone in the states considering the Scream Factory edition might want to give it a minute.
