What an awesome setup ! I used to just fold the seats down and throw our GSD and Husky in there. More and more I think about the “what if” and now want a crate set up. Those girls are unfortunately gone now (just lost our GSD two weeks ago and our Husky in September) but we’re adopting a 2 year old Sable GSD this weekend and want him to have a safer set up in the vehicle. The temp monitor is great I would have never thought of that! Thank you for taking the time to put this video together

Thank you so much! I'm so sorry for your loss, it's so hard that they're only with us for such a short time. Congratulations on the new addition though! Living in CA when it would get to 115° definitely made me think about how hot it got in the car/crate!

I got the side doors in our medium sized Ruff Land Kennel for better ventilation. Plus, if we get a different car the kennel can fit in the other way. We currently have a Odyssey which is the perfect big dog car. You can see out the back with zero obstructions and the kennel sits way down low so the sun is not beating thru the windows and nobody can see my dog. I also made custom wood outriggers on the bottom of the kennel since Ruff Land Kennels tend to flip and roll going around corners. They are easy to make, since they do give you bolt holes in the bottom of the kennels to attach outriggers. The Ruff Land doors also rattle badly so I line the four catches on the doors with foam tape. And with the Honda Odyssey you have room to get the top trays for the top of the kennel for storage, which is nice. I carry a box next to my dogs kennel that has his water battles, boot brush, water dishes, balls, sponge, combs, brushes, disinfectant and other dog stuff. Also, I never put dog decals on my cars. I know people that have had dogs stolen from their cars. No need to advertise that you have valuable trained dogs in your car. You can’t be to careful with your dogs.

Love your setup! Just a bit concerned about your tool bin between the second row becoming a projectile. I’d secure it down some way just in case!

I wish I had seen this prior to ordering some items for our Ruffland. Thank you so much! I'm still going to get those mats even though I already purchased others. They look more comfortable.
@ccsocal768 Жыл бұрын
Be careful ordering. I ordered weathertech mats and they sent the wrong thing. These are liners which can actually hold water and spills, their mats can’t.

This is great. Thanks for sharing. We currently don't use crates when traveling with our dogs.. but we probably should. We looked at the telluride.. but got a rav4 prime instead.. Really like the looks of the telluride and how much space was available for our furrbabies.. Especially the headroom !! Looks like you're growing your channel. Great job. Almost 1K subscribers. You got a new one in me!!

I also have a ‘22 Telluride and love it. Looking to now get two crates in the back so this was perfect. My only concern with Ruffland is how little ventilation it seems to have. Do these get hot? Wish Ruffland had an option for roof ventilation so those ceiling AC vents could blow cool air on the dogs better.
@TheButlerK9s7 ай бұрын
I find that they vent rather well but you have the option to order them with more holes or Ruffland has a template on adding more holes yourself. You just need to make sure you're following their template or you can compromise the structural integrity of the crates.
@jackieyoung33597 ай бұрын
@@TheButlerK9s wow - great to know. Thank you! I did email Ruffland yesterday asking about putting holes in the ceiling so hopefully they get back to me. I’d love for the air in those ceiling vents in the cargo area to be able to go directly through crate roof! Great video, again very thankful!

can you please show more detail of how you attached the straps to the car and what kind of straps you use?

I used ratchet straps from Amazon, they are linked in the description of the video. They are attached to the metal tether/anchor point that's on the back of the back seats

Thank you for this video. I am working out how to use a dog crate in my 2022 Telluride SX after removing 2 row captain's chairs and 3rd row seats. I have one 97 lb dog and I plan to use an impact crate. I am figuring out what will be the most secure points for tethering the crate now that I have no 2d or 3rd row seats (removed for extended car camping trips). I wonder if you have any suggestions on this. Thank you again

Hi I have the same vehicle and one ruff land large crate placed in the same area yours are, but only one crate not two. Any recommendations on how to tie it down in the Telluride? I’m ordering the ring clips and wanted to know what straps you used and how you tied down. Thank you!

My husband and I do nosework trials and I have been looking for more affordable travel crates. Wonderful, efficient crate set up! So your fans can recharge when the car is running? That is awesome! Thanks so much for this video! I need two large crates for my Mal, and Lab/pit mix. How long will the fans run on a charge?
@TheButlerK9s2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I haven't run the fans for very long yet but others have said it will run for 8 hours on a full battery charge. The fans don't recharge while the car is running because they don't plug into the car. They can run off the battery or they can be plugged in to a wall outlet with a power cord.
@alexandergoughenour4413 Жыл бұрын
Do you run the fans now that you have AC vents in the back of the car?

I do! I prefer more circulation of air directly into the crates, especially on really hot days.

There is no turning it on or off, it's always on. I've had mine for almost 2 years now and it's still working just fine! The battery can be replaced.

What are your thoughts having a front and back door on the fuffland kennels ?
@TheButlerK9s2 жыл бұрын
I think it's great, gives you another way to get the dogs out of the crates if the hatch is damaged and won't open.
@ccsocal768 Жыл бұрын
They also have side doors.
@jackieyoung33596 ай бұрын
I was also considering getting the 2nd back door too for three reasons. 1. More ventilation 2. Emergency escape route and 3. Allows me to see the dog in rear view mirror while driving. However, ultimately I decided against the 2nd door because if there was ever an accident, those doors can pop off fairly easily and the dog can become a projectile flying forward towards passengers. The Rufflands are great but their doors are definitely a weak point in my opinion. I also didn’t want fur and water getting on the carpeted backside of my second row seats. The solid back keeps all of that contained inside the crate.
