Outstanding and long overdue LNT video. I am sick and tired of picking up people's dog poop bags they leave along the trail. If you pack it in, you should pack it out. The dog poop fairies shouldn't have to pick up after others. It's on their owners to be responsible and Leave No Trace.

Everywhere I go I find dog/pet poop in plastic bags. Pet owners bag it when others watch, but are too lazy to pack it out so they just toss it when no one's watching. Due to the large numbers of people that leave the poop bags behind, it brings into question which is worse, leaving plastic bags everywhere or having the poop there? Best thing is to prohibit pets!

How about prohibiting humans? They have the potential (often exercised) to cause a whole lotta more damage than a pile of dog poop on a trail, which is the REAL issue here. People are tired of stepping in it because owners are too damned ignorant to pick it up. BTW.... no mention of cats here.... cats, which are frequently allowed to run free and become feral, often migrate into parks and lay waste to the smaller wildlife animals and birds - and then THEY leave waste all over the place. But, as I've seen so many times before, cats get a pass from cat lovers. One more point to think about; coyotes are surging in population all over the U.S. They 'poop' in the woods too, and are canine, but, I guess since they're considered wildlife, they get a pass (even after they kill and eat your cats and dogs that people let run free, and they're full of the chemicals of processed pet food that you've shown above).

I think it is site specific. If you're off trail where few other people/dogs go, it might be okay to leave it or scatter with the side of your boot. Pet's should not be prohibited. It's not their fault. It's the owners who should be responsible for their dog's poop and behavior. I always bring a leash.

@karigunderson5284 That's hilarious nonsensical thinking that it's not the pet's fault. Oh, we'll let the pets go where ever they want to visit without their "master"? I never saw a leash that picked up poop either. Too much pet over population.
