How to properly use the E collar to train your dog off-leash? This is a bit taken from pro dog trainer Tom Davis's training in the London area. The remote collar for your dog is the safest dog training tool you could use when introduced properly.

Saw a lady on Tiktok who was at breaking point because a trainer had told her Euthanasia was the only outcome for her dogs sporadic reactivity, even though he's never hurt anyone. I recommended you to her saying you also help online clients. She's watching all your vids now and hopefully she'll reach out. Found this episode so helpful as a fellow Gsd owner. 🙂❤

I think if a trainer says this to someone they are lazy! Every dog can be saved, it's just how hard do you want to work to save them. Clearly your friend loves her dog & is willing to put in the work but that trainer was purely being lazy!

I think the trick to this tool working, is the proper introduction and training both dog and human so they are on the same page. Tom is teaching the owners consistency too. This dog is beautiful and does not show any signs of pain or discomfort, yet responds when given a command. How much better could it be for dogs and owners? The tears of joy are the best! Best wishes to all.

I still have my wonderful Cane Corso mix because of an e collar. She decided to go on a chicken killing spree. If I could have reached her for a correction, I would have. I couldn't and she knew it. Two mild corrections with the e collar she never did it again. We also use it on our elderly, deaf dog. When she started to lose her hearing, I would vibrate the collar, call her and as soon as she looked at me, I gave her a treat. She can't hear me call her anymore but if I vibrate the collar, she immediately looks for me! Living on a small acreage, it's important the dogs respond when called.

I love that you address the fact that a higher level on the e collar IS uncomfortable for the dog, but that one second of discomfort is OKAY and worth it in order to save your dogs life or just be able to give them more freedom. So many FF people will die on the hill of “dogs should never experience pain/discomfort/etc” yet refuse to take into account how limited that discomfort is when training with an e collar or prong or other aversive tool (when done properly). My high prey drive dog gets a ton of freedom thanks to the e collar, and she is a much happier and more fulfilled dog with the e collar in her life.

You get a dog, imagining all of the wonderful adventures you’ll be going on together! Then your dog exhibits aggressive and non-compliant behavior and now Fido watches out the window, alone, wondering why they can’t be with you. Along comes Tom Davis with how to better communicate acceptable behavior to Fido, and now you can take your dog on even-better-than-imagined adventures. I totally get why she’s crying. Thank you Tom Davis!!

Go you! I spent 2 years doing daily long line, PP treat training with my rescue until she was perfect every time. Yet still, the moment I unclipped the leash she was off and I had zero recall. 3 weeks of solid e collar conditioning and now I have 100% confidence she will come back. I rarely have to use the boost button, and when I do she comes flying back and you can almost see her saying "sorry mum, I was coming back, honest!". The ecollar saved my relationship with her and gave her daily freedom off leash to explore and run. They are brilliant when used this way.

I absolutely agree with all he's saying about the e-collar. I used to think they were horrible, cruel, and to never use one. I have a shiba mix that I could never get to listen to me. Not even with treats. For three years, I felt a disconnect with my dog. Because she isn't food motivated, it was impossible to teach her any sort of recall, or even to sit on command because she just didn't care enough to do it. She would ignore us when we asked for any behavior, and she would just run out the door as soon as she saw an opportunity to dash. I had two different trainers look at me and say "you're dog should never been off leash, even in the house.", because that was the only thing that could possibly stop her from dashing off. Luckily I came across Tom's video's and slowly warmed up to the idea. Now she and I have a bond so much closer and she can go for off leash hikes in high distraction areas with a perfect recall, all thanks to Tom's education and an E-Collar. Thank you so much for all you do Tom. Thank you for teaching owners how to strengthen the bond between man and thier best friend.

He became really reactive and all the trainers in my area were positive only non aversive type trainers and could offer me no help. I found your videos started training with the prong and working on our relationship and he came around beautifully. He’s no longer reactive and so much calmer. Even better than he was before the attack honestly. Changed my whole outlook on dog training and now I have a much happier and healthier dog who is also my lifeline. Thank you for all you do ❤️

You don't just jump into it, you give the apprehensive or untrained owner confidence and peace of mind to understand the equipment before putting it on the dog. You have outstanding patience. Even I learned just from watching your videos that the e collar is an amazing tool that A LOT of people do not understand and can be a great way to strengthen your relationship with your dog. Just love how much hope Tom brings to peoples lives, speaking from personal experience, I know how much the work he does means to people in difficult situations with their dogs! I was at a point of ‘what the hell am I gonna do?’ When Tom was recommended to me. Best thing that ever happened, we have a long way to go but these videos and the official members club are invaluable to our progress! Can’t thank you guys enough for breaking down the barriers to improve the lives of dogs all over the world!

Tom thanks for this video, we've been wanting to train our bullmastiffs on the e-collar for a happy safe off leash freedom. Each video I keep getting more and more comfortable and willingness to try. Our family practically watches a video everyday to get caught up on all the education since we discovered Tom and the channel. Beautiful training, patience and incredibly helpful. We appreciate the channel so much!

Years ago I lost a wonderful dog to a busy highway, I don't know if these collars exsisted then but I'm grateful they exsist now. Keep up the great work, your videos are helping me immensely with my new puppy.

Great video as always. I have a very reactive pup and I've been trying to convince the husband that an e-collar is not a shock collar. I think we need one and I feel our girl would benefit more with one. I feel so bad seeing her so stressed and barking at the slightest sound or someone passing the house. Hopefully I can make him watch this and your explanation.

This was very helpful, for some reason the small distance reps has been something i haven't tried. I am hoping this will help my Husky develop a good association with the E Collar. Thanks again Tom for all the awesome content, only trainer I watch and trust the information because it comes from a place of love for our 4 legged friends.

I have learned a lot from watching this channel. I don't have a dog yet but watching these will help prepare me once I do get a pup of my own. The use of the remote collar you discuss and how you educate clients and us on it's use is wonderful. I am considering yours when I do get a pup as a tool. Keep up the good work!

I've been working the e-collar for 4 weeks now. Seeing my dog, and me, enjoy longer ball tosses and be more relaxed since we are off leash has been an amazing experience. Our bond and her increased, relaxed attention to me has never been stronger. She voluntarily puts her head in the collar every morning. Her anxiety has decreased. Probably partially attributed to age but more than likely the lack of me "worrying" which she cued off of. Your videos and taking the time to explain why, how, etc. have helped me more than the money I've poured into trainers locally trying to get her less anxious around new things. Thanks so much for a happier dog and relationship.

Loving the episodes with German Shepherds! First time GSD owner myself. I have learned a lot from your videos and they have helped me to become a better trainer. Had a bad experience with an e-collar, but this has inspired me to give it another go. Best wishes from NZ.
