Thanks for the information. I've just begun conditioning with an ecollar(Boss educator). I have a Rottweiler with an extremely thick coat. After a day or two at 12, I was thinking i wasn't getting proper contact so switched to the ultra wing. There was a definite improvement. As I said we are just starting so we're still trying to find our groove.

I'm glad the video was helpful! Take your time when trying to find a working level. It is much better to operate at too low of a level for a few days than it is too operate at too high of a level. Were you able to drop to a lower level when you put the Comfort Pad on?

I love to hear that Marko!!! The contact points out of the box are almost always tough to use (unless a dog has super short hair). We don't like how snug a collar has to fit to get good contact with the stock setup so we definitely recommend these a lot!

Thank you for this information! The wings just looked intimidating, and I wasn't sure. I'm going to get a comfort pad with wings right now. I'm currently using the regular titanium tips, and my dog was getting pressure sores despite frequent collar rotations. We always had to part her fur before we put on her collar and made sure it was tight. Otherwise, we would lose contact very quickly. I'm also curious about how it changes the working level as well. I'm using a dogtra 280c, and the working level is typically 4.

Morning Agnes! The Comfort Pad definitely looks intimidating when you see it online, but I think you will be really happy with it. Your dog will stop getting pressure sores and you won't have to worry about parting her fur anymore. If you are currently at a 4, I would start at a 1 in a fenced in area and see how she responds. Since your working level is already so low you might not see much of a change but starting lower is definitely a good idea. Have fun training!!!

@Suburban K9 Dog Training I imagine I'd still have to part the fur for the middle 4 prongs to make proper contact but I'll see how it goes.

I actually just commented on the other video you did about the dogtra titanium nodes and I’m thankful for you bc I couldn’t find this Info anywhere. I’ve got a shepherd/husky who’s coat is like a lions and getting consistent contact is what I need but didn’t think the rounded nodes would do the trick so thank you.

Hey! I just replied to your other comment. These products are kinda confusing since they look almost exactly alike and are pretty much always interchangeable between brands. I think you will be happy with either and you will be amazed how much better the contact will be. Make sure to turn the stim level down when you first use them. We often see a dramatic drop is warranted because of better contact.

@@SuburbanK9DogTraining yes thank for you the info! I’m very familiar with the collar and the training but am re conditioning my dog to the sensation bc she’s a Velcro type dog, very confident but always wants to be near me and I was sure that she wasnt learning the sensation bc she always responds to my verbal cues but after 2 weeks of conditioning multiple times a day she wouldn’t respond to the e collar no verbal cue even tho I’ve done it properly before so i imagine bc of her crazy long hair the contacts aren’t good enough, this is exactly what I’m looking for

@@Hbryry I went with the winged tips, and it definitely works. I can advise you to separate your dogs fur with your fingers and find the skin, and then line up the winged tips with the exposed skin and make sure it’s tight enough that it doesn’t slip off position but obviously not tight enough to hurt your pup

Hey, quick question but how do you charge the e-collar with these contacts. I have the dogtra arc and the new contacts seem to block the charging port.
@SuburbanK9DogTraining
@SuburbanK9DogTraining 6 ай бұрын
Great question! You can charge the Arc with the Wingtips but you have to kinda bend the wingtip slightly to get the charger in. We have done this for years and haven't had an issue with the wingtip breaking.

Thanks for the informative video. This is what I have been looking for. My favourite e-collar is also 280C from Dogtra. I am wondering if the Winged Ultra Comfort Pad is also compatiable with Dogtra 280C. Looking forward to your comment. Thank you :)

I just got these and I can’t see how these are more comfortable. I tried it and it’s more uncomfortable imo. The wings dig in. I think this needs to be tighter so it does not rotate around the neck. The receiver wants to also rotate away from the neck due to the small contact points.
@SuburbanK9DogTraining
@SuburbanK9DogTraining Жыл бұрын
Hey AW! Sorry to hear it that! We love the Winged Ultra Comfort and have never had an issue with it. They didn't accidently send you the Short Hair or Long Hair version did they? Those have more of a normal contact point compared to the true Winged version. If they sent you the right one it shouldn't have to be super tight to get a good fit. What kind of dog do you have?

Thanks for making this video, this is super helpful. I have a Labradoodle about 37lbs and I normally like to keep his hair short, do you still recommend that I use this wing extension? Also, I’m wondering is it safe for my dog to play with other dogs while waring this? As the way dogs play with each other can be quite rough, will this hurt him during rough playing by having the wings or the contact points digging into his neck? Thanks!
@SuburbanK9DogTraining
@SuburbanK9DogTraining 7 ай бұрын
We really like the extensions even with shorter hair. Labradoodles usually have such thick hair that even when it is short the e collar can have trouble making good contact without extensions. I wouldn't worry about the e collar digging into his neck during play. My bigger worry would be another dog getting his paw stuck inside the collar and possibly getting hurt. If the other dogs are pawing at him a lot I would keep a very close eye on them. Let us know if you have any more questions!

I have a question, if you could help. I have the option of the one you reviewed and the four prong comfort pad. I have an American Pit Bull Terrier, and her fur is very short and light, especially around the neck and ear area. I currently have the short titanium posts. To get a good connection, I have the collar super tight. She has a big muscular neck so having it as tight as I do along with the two prongs, it's easy to understand that she's having some skin problems. Do you have a recommendation as to which of the two collar extensions would work best? Thank you
@SuburbanK9DogTraining
@SuburbanK9DogTraining Жыл бұрын
Hey Dean! I think either will work well. The 4 prong short hair comfort pad is great and is made for short hair dogs like yours but I have seen a lot of pits and Dobermans with the Wing Tip Ultra Comfort and they do well. Since you are dealing with skin irritation I would probably do the one shown in the video so you can put the collar on less snugly. Let us know how it works out!

Hi! I just bought the confort pad for my thin hair and neck GSP. I was finding the other one too long for his small neck. Now I found that I have to tight alot his collar to make sure the 4 contacts touch his skin but I wounder if I should add wings or it is more for long hair? i don't like the way I need to tight his collar
@SuburbanK9DogTraining
@SuburbanK9DogTraining 9 ай бұрын
I really like the wings for exactly that reason! We use them often on short haired dogs and they work well. You will be able to leave the collar much looser than with the short contact points.

What size would you recommend for a Malinois? I have a mini educator - I used the 3/4 contact points but I think because his coat is so thick we were unable to establish a consistent connection. I feel like his coat is thick enough but perhaps not long enough for the size of the wings?
@SuburbanK9DogTraining
@SuburbanK9DogTraining Жыл бұрын
Hey Dominic! I would use the long hair version. Even though his hair isn't long, when it is thick the long hair wing tip makes a world of difference. We have used them on a lot of Malinois over the years and always like them. You should be able to get good contact and not have to tighten the collar so much!

Hi Agnes! We always use the comfort pad in this video because it works so well. That being said, I have no direct experience with the Dogtra unit. I love Dogtra, so I would assume its a great product. Ok, I need some help. I ended up purchasing the same winged comfort pad as the one on your video for my long coat shepherd. @SuburbanK9DogTraining

Hi Agnes! You got those fast! Only the two wings need to make contact, not the middle prongs. The wings generally slip between the fur very easily and deliver great contact.
