so impressive, im blown away, i always thought huskies understand well but have a mind of their own... so happy to see this

Very impressive. I had a Husky 10 years ago. She was a beautiful and sweet dog, but I couldn't let her off the leash. She would take off following her nose, oblivious to everything, and she wouldn't let me catch her. I had to get in the car and try to track her down. The thing is she liked to go in the car too and she knew my car. So if I could get close to her and open a car door, then in she would go. I wish she was as good as Saber is.

This video has given me so much hope for my 9 week old husky pup. After bringing her home I've heard nothing but horror stories from people. I just hope we can get her behaving this well eventually!

+Melissa Moore Thank you! Siberian Huskys are great dogs, they just need proper handling for manners and formal obedience. ;-) Good luck to you and your pup!

this is amazing to see, especially with a husky! how? so many people have told me to never get a husky because i'm not strong enough to walk them "when they pull". too many people make it out to be impossible :(

That's a very good result in just 2 weeks!May I ask how you trained him? With treats or how did you reward him?
@tubbysole8 жыл бұрын
Dicipline and being strict when they dont listen is important. Its very important to dont scream or yell when they dont listen, and rewarding eith a treat is nice. When they listen and do something right it is very important to sound very positive and happy, since dogs obviously cant understand what you are saying, they listen to your voice to see if you are mad or positive :) these things worked really well for my dog, who is a very behaved dog :)

My husky desperately needs this lol Also, is it possible for dogs to unlearn the corrected behavior if the owners don't follow through or aren't strict with commands?
@OffLeashK9Columbus8 жыл бұрын
Hi Brook. Consistency at home is critical. If clients do not follow through, obedience will most likely become inconsistent. For this reason we have a 3 hour session at pickup for board and train clients, watching them work their dogs and instructing them on what to do at home. This typically works out as we rarely have to do any refresher work.

Was this really only two weeks worth of board and training? I only ask because I recently have done the same thing with my husky. He is only about 8 months old. When I've talked with the trainer about progress, he wasn't forth coming with information and it has made me nervous whether or not I've spent my money correctly... Of course, my husky is still in training for another few days, so perhaps I am just worrying too much. I know huskies are a very distracted breed, but if this is two weeks worth of training... it does set a bar of expectations. How often and long were your training sessions with this husky?
@OffLeashK9Columbus8 жыл бұрын
Hi SingSongWords. Yes, Saber was with us for two weeks. We worked with Saber on average two to three hours a day, broken up into multiple sessions. Good luck with your husky!

+대벅소녀시대 Any dog can exhibit this behavior, and a husky is no exception. Puppies require 100% supervision (thus never allowing the behavior to start), structured exercise and mental stimulation.
