I just love this guy - he makes more sense to me than any other dog trainers video I have ever watched and I have watched so many and for some reason this must be the one for me because I gravitated to his training methods and his wonderful personality with those dogs. I cannot believe how much they respond so well to him and that says a million things to me. Like he knows what he is doing. Thank you God Bless you I am learning so much. And my dog is reacting better.

I just discovered your videos - Thank you for such amazing info. I'm into my 10th week with my adopted 9yr old GSP who I don't think had ANY training at all. The first time I showed him a ball I thought he broke my ribs - body slamming me so hard!! Thanks for the "patience" reminder. Mine has certainly been tested!!

Howdy Stonnie, I just wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU for the continued enthusiasm and encouragement you display in your videos. I have been watching your videos for a few months before I got my puppy and have been following your advice in the training and imprinting times and WOW how easy it has been to get my dog to be patient and have good manners and come when he is called. He's only 3 1/2 months! I'm a proud dog owner. Thanks for laying your knowledge out here for us!!!

The way I did it is to make the obstacles out of the stuff on the street. Little walls along the sidewalk serpentine through the pipes in the ground, using playground equipment..etc. One town I lived in had a short trail with stations for humans to excercise on...i think it's called "circuit training"" That I made up stuff for my dog to do on.
@virglibrsaglove4 жыл бұрын
My pup and I have been doing that, too. Higher curbs to jump over, bushes to go around, parking lot edges to follow, church stairs to climb, cement inclines to have her sit and stay on, etc. I'm just keeping my eyes open for anything that looks like we can do stuff with. She loves it! So do I! And passers by are entertained. Fun all around!

I recently decided to get a dog for a family pet. I have watched many of your videos, and videos from other youtube channels that have training and informative videos. I have also read up on some training techniques. I have not been able to find as much information as I would like on the differences between male and female dogs personality wise, and based on intact versus neutered. I was wondering if you would be willing to share your expertise as a professional on this matter so that I could have some more information before I go out looking for a puppy to bring home? I am positive that this matters, but I am looking for a mixed breed dog.

I think a lot of people are fooled by videos that are titled, "Fastest way to..." It's not about speed, it's about results. If they can't get their dog to behave like the dog in the video, they get frustrated and wind up doing nothing for the dog and then complain about it's behavior. I tell everyone, be patient and stick with it!

What do you do with a dog that has shut down? My dog suddenly got terrified of biking with me today, so I got off and pushed it, with me between my dog and the bike. However, she was trying to bolt away the whole time to the side. When that didn't work, she lied down and just refused to walk. I ended up moving really far away from the bike, asking her to jump into a shoulder perch and carried her home with the bike. But when we got back and she saw me put the bike away, she just stood in the driveway, not going in the house. I tried to continue the walk, planning on letting her sniff and de-stress, but she wouldn't budge. I had to drag her into the house after ten minutes of leaving the front door open. My other dog greeted her (she's usually obsessed with him) and she didn't even sniff him/wag her tail. But she never tucked it once either (when we first started with the bike, she had it tucked then we made great progress and she loved it, until we had today's incident where she almost got caught under the wheel). I had treats with me, trying to work on some engagement, just basic tricks she knows really well, but still with treat lures (this was after the bike was put away), but she didn't really budge still. Not really sure what I should have done in this situation. A lot of trust was lost between us today.

Jessica Hammage - I would say check her over for any injuries. I know your post said 'almost' ran over but still. Check her paws real good and her shoulders. Maybe even take her to your favorite vet to be absolutely sure. Then just start with the basics again. It might take a good long while to get her back but just keep trying and remember, the accident happened yesterday you can keep reliving it but she might not. Act like nothing has happened. Just make sure she's sound and start back with the basics. 😃
@bella58756 жыл бұрын
Try to not force her back to the bike too quickly, after any severely stressful event give her about 2-3 days to de-stress (cortisol takes a bit to leave the body). If she's still afraid of the bike work to build good associations with the bike. Do her favorite things and give her the most special treats in the presence of the bike while it's standing still. Then ask her to touch it with her nose or paw. Slowly start to move the bike little by little, etc. Take it slow and reward even the smallest successes!

@@StonnieDennis Do you follow your own advice? When seeing a good dog trainer on KZbin, would you take his advice and consider the Koran? Or have you already spend quite some time to make up your mind about religion and why people believe different stuff and thus there’s nothing new for you to consider. Maybe you’d even find it a bit annoying that he talks about the koran^^

y'all need to not put the devil on the same level as the Lord God. Every one wants to point out the devil did it to Job and that is true, but the devil is a dog on a leash and can only do what the Lord God commands him to do. For the Lord God is the One who brought the adversities upon job, He just used Satan to do so. Job 42:11 11 Then came there unto him all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his acquaintance before, and did eat bread with him in his house: and they bemoaned him, and comforted him over all the evil that the Lord had brought upon him: every man also gave him a piece of money, and every one an earring of gold. So I ask you, now after reading the verse...Who did what to Job? Furthermore the Holy Writ is not metaphorical, it is factual..yes there are a few allegories and many symbols and those symbols and allegories point to actual factual accounts... Be careful how you handle the word of God!
